If you've watched The Lower Decks of Strange New Worlds you've
encountered the cosmic Koala that shows up whenever characters are
ascending into energy beings and/or other layers of existence.
Remember that alien that Janeway encountered that wanted to take her
neural energy? The koala is an entity like that, praying on newly
ascended beings: eating them. It's a filter to overcome to become a true
superbeing like Q.
