Just Broadcast, not cable? Fringe. Hottest chick? Terminator: The Sarah
Connor Chronicles. (You know I have a thing for Summer Glau)

Understandable ...... but I'd have to say "Heroes"

{though I like the new Dr.Who but am having a tough time giving it
a place rating between 10 through 3,with the Stargate franchise at
#2}

especially from a couple of eps back this season, re: the emphasis
that if everyone had powers, the world would be destroyed because
there are still too many humans that are petty and stupid, with an
overabundance of such in the USA.

Like Suresh was thought of as the ultimate good guy but has now
gone dark side.....Gabriel/Sylar wanting to repent and become a
good guy had me a little taken aback....and now that daddy Petrelli
is awake we are seeing what true evil is[he is the original
absorber].

Don't ask me about Battlefart Galactica...[classic or
new]...though, it isn't even on my radar, both premesis are
pathetic, the new one even more so...it has to be pretty bad when I
only care about the ship designs and not the characters. At least
in the old one the Colonials were true victims....in the new one
they did it do themselves, so why should anyone have empathy with a
civilization even more pathetic that the real-life one I'm [we] are
forced to live in? {which is why I said not to ask....I could
really rant on about the Ron Moore version}

"Firefly" is still #1 though, even if its not airing.

Doctor Who is my #1 favorite, however, mine were based on the fact that
RayCav said "broadcast" I wasn't sure if he included cable or not. If
so, then Doctor Who is far and away #1. After that, Stargate Atlantis. I
really like Fringe and Sanctuary too.

Damnit, man! I have 3 episodes backed up on my DVR that I haven't gotten
to yet! No spoilers!

Not sure if you're supposed to feel much empathy towards them. I feel
the character dynamics are more along the lines of a Film Noir, where
none of the characters are particularly sympathetic. Some are maybe just
a bit less bad than the others.

I really liked Firefly. Of course, a lot of it had to do with a certain
actress. ;)

/Nowadays/ ....?
Straight sci-fi.....
Hmmm.....

1. Heroes.
2. Doctor Who.

Others in recent years, but that have only been broadcast recently overhere
(relatively speaking), and/or looking at a broader spectrum of the fantastic
genres in general:
- Angel
- Lost
- Daybreak
- Threshold (I was surprised myself!)
- Stargate SG-1
- Medium
- The 4400
- Jericho (which I would recommend to anyone).
- Surface
- Supernatural

As for *the best* of my second list ...?

1. Angel
2. Jericho
3. Daybreak
4. Supernatural

Something like that.

Yeah, ITT people fail to understand what "broadcast" (as opposed to
"cable") means. I mean as in what you get on your TV for free, over
the airwaves, you need one of those converter boxes to see after Feb
09 if you're a poor bastard like me.

I never warmed up to 'Invasion'. I found it impossible to sympathize with
the characters.
The same goes for that other 'Hardy Boy' show called 'American Gothic'.
What pissed me off was the cancellation of 'Firefly'. I'm glad we at least
got 'Serenity' after that.

Well, if we're talking past shows, Firefly, no duh.

As for current shows...don't know if Chuck counts but if it does, I
would say that, at least for its first season (haven't seen second
season yet)

If it doesn't...haven't quite gotten into Fringe yet...it might
actually end up being Sarah Connor Chronicles for now.

Eh, to be honest with you, it's kinda a weak start (but you still
absolutely have to watch if you really want any idea of what's going
on in later eps, it's a very plot-driven show ala DS 9) and while it's
still not the best thing on American over-the-air broadcast
programming right now, it's definately worth watching.

Don't listen to him, he likes it only because it has Summer Glau in
it. Summer Glau can be buried underneath a parka giving a lecture on
Hillary Clinton's national health care plan and he'll still think it's

What happened to the deaf kid who was a soldier wannabe?
Was that Sheppard or was Sheppard some one else?
Back in '99 or '01 one of my Legion magazines came in with five
page article on how the Cadet movement was changing for the 21st
century.
I wanted to forward it to him so he could drool with envy[but one
of my cousins' kids got his hands on it and then joined his local
army cadet company as the army cadet structure is affiliated with a
local
'grown up' regiment] myself I was a member of the Royal Canadian
Air Cadets. What suprised me was the increase in the number of
flying scholarships being awarded.....in my day[early 1970s] they
were rare and you had to compete for them.
However I got to fire the real-life original Stormtrooper
blaster...
as a 9mm slug thrower[soft lead not copper jacket], in the movie
you saw them with the stubby practice magazine[i don't remember if
they were 5 round or ten round] cadets and reserves/regular used
the standard 30/60 round magazines..there was a larger size but it
unbalanced the weapon and the reason Stormtroopers couldn't hit
anything with them is they were basically for brush-clearing, for
any accuracy you needed either the eight inch or 12 inch extended
barrel, don't quote me on that, I just called them the long and
short add on.
However the military turned into work....first you got 20-25 hours
of lectures before you were even allowed on the range, then
afterward you policed your brass[early recycling] then you stripped
and clean the weapon, then reassembled. This turned it into work
and soon the novelty/thrill wears off and it just became another
job.
I don't see them anymore, I guess that when the CF got rid of the
FN they all went with NATO spec hardware in 7.62,5.56 and 9mm
because I don't even see the local Lincoln and Welland Regiment use
them any more. Though it has been more than a decade since i
dropped in on them.

Is the movie "Passchendaele" playing in your area?
I admire Paul Gross for bringing it to the big screen, in the past we
had to rely on the CBC for telling our stories, "The Arrow"
notwithstanding and a must see for everyone, American and Canadian.
Google/Wiki "Owen Maynard" please.
"The Great Escape" was primarily Canadians but they had to use
American actors and change things.
For the uncles I'll never know WWII was tragedy....prior to US
involvement in '42, Canadians were cannon fodder for the German
gunners, in particular, Dunkirk and it was the Canadian squadrons and
free Polish who saved England from invasion, at least they aknowleged
that in their movie and the Germans became afraid of us.
With good reason....there were scores to settle.
The Pacific was your war and I wouldn't apologize for the use of the
bomb as so many left-leaning want to do, they started it and as for
internment I was aghast at the apologies my government were giving
out. Those camps were holiday resorts compared to what American,Dutch
and British subjects had to endure at the hands of the Japanese, if
it had gone the other way, our parents would have been slaves and you
and I would probably not have been allowed to be born even. They had
definite plans to replace the population of North America with their
own people and those interned here would have used family ties to set
themselves up as the upper class.......

Sorry for the OT rant....I just wanted to know if the movie was/is
playing in your area.

Oh believe me, Shep's someone else. And, uh, you don't want to know
what type of "facility" he ended up at.

Oh God, believe me, getting in touch with Shep is strictly optional.
There's a reason why I blocked him.

Couldn't remember the kids' logon name, if he was deaf then he would
be restricted as to what trade he could pick in the reserves or
regulars but in the cadet movement up here and pretty much since the
1960s, if you could walk, they wouldn't discriminate unless you were
a disipline problem. However a few hours with a DI could usually
break one of that or the military disiplne would have been good for a
kid like that and there were a plethora of courses one could/can take
including the full formal sign language as well as the Amslang, the
American slang sign language[good for covert/silent ops]if they had
an instructor for it..you could fairly well learn anything military
you wanted, at least in my day.

What's TV? I seem to have forgotten...does it have something to do with
that big boxy thing in my room that has like a glass front on it? Hell if I
know...

Lately I've been as busy as a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.
Kinda comes from being a single dad with two little boys and working
full time. I have several shows backed up on my DVR. I should watch
them, because I'm running out of room. :) Anyway, I watch BSG, Fringe,
the new Knight Rider (don't laugh), Terminator: The Sarah Connor
Chronicles, (Mostly because I have a MAJOR crush on Summer Glau), NCIS
and Heroes. I'm looking forward tot he new seasons of Primeval,
Torchwood, The Sarah Jane adventures, and of course, Doctor Who. Damn,
that's a lot of shows. No wonder I've got so many on my DVR I haven't
watched. Thankfully, the seasons are staggered so I'm not completely
innundated.

NCIS is about the only show you listed that I actually have watched more
then a few bits and peices of. Good show actually. :)
