That was hardly odd, but what was odd was they type of fighters
they were. Not a single one belonged to the Sixth Imperium, in the
rush to evacuate Kothis fighters had landed on the closest carrier
with no though of who the ship belonged. Now these ships were
returned, they began to land on the ships of there government, or on
Luna Base.
The carriers themselves also sat down on Luna base. They opened
massive hatches and a motley crew of soldiers began to climb down.
They came form dozens of races and thousands of units. Most were
just lucky to be alive. Anyone who hadn't escaped Kothis was now
dead.
Once the soldiers were clear the carriers lift off silently. It was
an odd sight. No flames, no glow, not even a sound as the floated
upwards like a feather, then rocketed off at incredible speeds.
There wasn't even a sonic boom since the moon's atmosphere was far
top thin.
"Earth Command. This is Senior Fleet Captain Guisly. The Star
Marshall want to consolidate our forces before rejoining the fight.
We have no fear for the safety of Earth though. I doubt that even
TOWMNBN can defeat the might of Kynes and Planet, especially with
the presence of Sir Graeme of Dice. The Imperium has long been
allied with them and know there power. So instead of wasting our
time helping one who does not need help, we will be on the CIN
front. While the trolls hate the FAQ it's presence will not
guarantee our victory."
He paused for a second and studied a display, then continued. "But
the loss of the Crystals will mean our defeat. If you look at the
maps you can see that they are concentrated on the CIN. One Vanguard
Fleet attacks Earth, but six attack the CIN, not to mention the The
Troll Grand Armada. We still don't now what they're after."
The Carriers were now barreling for clear space so they could jump
to hyper. but before they did Guisly gave one last piece of advice.
"We saw what happened on Kothis. Don't let them do it again. Don't
get pinned down to this system. Hit them first, engage in a running
battle. Fight a war of a thousand pinpricks, bleed them. That way
when they finally reach Sol they won't have the strength to take it.
Pound them hard, and keep it up. Never let off the pressure."
He was about to cut the connection then remembered something. "One
warning. If you decide to build a base on Earth, be very careful. Do
not harm the planet, or you'll regret it. I doubt you'll even meet
Kynes much less speak with him. But always remember his presence,
and the power of Planet."
The sixteen ships vanished. Earth Command considered his words.

Or not. Both of the thread are completely contradictory. I think we
should do a quick vote on which thread to use.
Because Several things seemed a little off. Like the existence of
Planet, and that there is no Kynesian Imperiate. Kynes is a wizard
who is the brother of Earth. Graeme's character is close but he
seemed a little weak, plus stupid.
But then again I don't like the whole FAQ idea in the first place.
I much preferred the original idea with the crystals.
Damn hyperspace for being this slow. The only consolation Wilkens could
take was that he was not forced to deal with something as primitive as
warp drive but it was of little consolation. He wwas taking too long to
get to earth. While the others fought to protect the crystals he would
fight to defend the FAQ. Sheppard would be coming here and Wilkens had
a bone to pick.
Their history was an interesting one indeed. Wilkens had entered this
strange realm hearing stories of the man's exploits with the Cleaners,
a mighty fighter in the crusades against the troll-lords of old. Then
the ASVS civil war had broken out. Sheppard had broken with the powers
that be and sought to impose his will upon the group. He had attracted
a cult like following of derranged S&M psychopaths (not that there's
anything wrong with S&M). It was this force that WIlkens had barely
managed to defeat over the skies of Earth in the last defense of the
FAQ. His men's blood had been spilled to prevent Sheppard once and
WIlkens swore that he would shed it again until Sheppard ceased his
immoral crusade of destruction.
What worried Wilkens the most was that this was not the Sheppard of
old, it was a troll sheppard, prone to the oddest of behaviors and the
worst possible tactics. In a way that worked to Wilkens advantage. His
gunners and sensor officers despite numerous battles against Sheppard,
Boyd, Vong, Theela and others they still lacked the missile defenses
that some powers had. To be certain the fact that his lightest guns ran
nearly a petajoule in energy per shot was a good way to make up for the
defficiency but not nearly enough. Fortunately Sheppard was so warped
by his conversion to trolldom that he would most likely never again
rise to the intelligence level required to utilize a proper fleet scale
battle.
One more thing helped, the Peacekeepers could do damage, especially to
fleets in motion without enough security. The M-Wings could do worse.
Recconnisance had already shown the Troll fleet stopping many times
over to reorient with Sheppard apparently being forced to rearrange the
formations constantly to deal with troll stupidity. His tacticians had
already planned out an increasingly deadly series of hit and fade
attacks against this enemy. This would be interesting.

Okay. I'm a mite confused right now as to what exactly is going on, so I'm
just going to bring in my forces. I'm just adding a small amphibious assault
group to my current force of the 'Phoenix'. Oh, and BTW, I'm not about to go
and attack the Collective. There will be time for that later. At Christmas
maybe. Remember that when you get to the last paragraph. I don't have the
time to drag them into this mess.
The Phoenix unfolded at the edges of the Talheri system and requested
clearance to enter. The remnants of several Collective fleets could be seen
drifting in the void. The defence platforms that had destroyed them were
invisible for the moment, their massive arrays of relativity cannons and
tactical super lasers hidden behind cloaks. With a system wide interdiction
field in place, this was the only spot one could enter and even then, only
using warp drive. The alternative was a 2 week high sublight journey,
something no sane commander would commit his forces to. The whole bridge
breathed a sigh of relied as their codes checked out and the battle cruiser
was given clearance to proceed.
The journey in was made at a leisurely warp 7, giving Jonathan half an hour
to review the situation. There were conflicting intelligence reports from
his own people and intercepted transmissions from the allied forces were no
better. No-one seemed to know quite what was going on. The only certain
thing was that the troll war would continue a while longer, both in the air
and on the ground.
As they cruised into the system, the wreckage of more Collective vessels
appeared, along with patrols of rebel ships. Obviously some ships had
penetrated the defence platforms' screen and tried to make a raid on the
shipyards. They hadn't got far. A pair of Purification class battleships,
with a heavy escort of cruisers and destroyers, ran a few sweeps of the
battlecrusier with their targeting sensors. There would be no ships to spare
for the naval battle against the trolls. The same would apply to troops. The
rebellion was heavily outnumbered by the Collective and could afford to lose
none of their valuable troops to trolls. Jonathan would need another way to
raise an army. And he had one.
The docking procedures were uneventful, a small cheer going over the comms
when they arrived. When Jonathan departed the ship via an airlock, he was
greeted by the inane grins of the senior staff of the main shipbuilding
facility. Jonathan, and consequently the rest of the Boyd, was not big on
ceremony however, and they retired swiftly to a luxurious conference room,
where the commanders of the various major facilities in the system, were
already waiting. It didn't take long for Jonathan to explain his plan.
"You want to bring _them_ back?!" exclaimed the commander of the naval
college.
"Surely they wouldn't stand a chance against intelligently led troops."
"Trolls are hardly intelligent."
"Maybe not, but they've got instincts for combat."
"But we need those numbers."
"Given time, we could even match the Collective army in size."
"But what about officers? Without competent leaders, they'll be useless.
Slaughtered in the first offensive."
"I'm not proposing to use them as officers. That would be foolish. There
were other clones who served as officers. With the right leadership, they
can be more successful than you imagine. Trust be, I've seen them in
action."
The admiral fell silent and acquiesced.
"Are there any more objections? No? Very well then, cloning will commence at
once. All chambers will be used. That solves our troop shortage, now what
about ships?"
"The shipyards are working 3 shifts and breaking all their previous records,
but every ship we build is used to replace those lost in raids, or is
dispatched to aid efforts to incite other worlds to rebel. We have a handful
of frigate and destroyer squadrons in reserve, and fewer than 30 bigger
ships. We're stretched as thin as things will go."
"What about transports and fighters?"
"We can spare a few Griffin wings and a few Marine air groups. We've more
transports than we need as well. We've been considering using them as patrol
ships as well."
"I'll need an amphibious assault force capable of transporting an entire
Marine group and their associated aircraft."
"Hmm. It'll cost us a lot of the reserves, but if you need them... They'll
be ready within the hour."
"Very good. I want the Phoenix's Carrier Star Wings replaced with Air Wings.
And that concludes are business."
That would replace the Phoenix's Snipe interceptor squadrons with Griffin
attack fighters. Slower and less manoeuvrable, they were however, better
armed and stealthier. The troll fighters weren't a threat to any of the Boyd
fighters and the Griffins were much more useful against ground targets.
Besides, the amphibious assault force would have a carrier escort providing
plenty of fighter cover.
2 hours later, Jonathan stood and watched as the first regiment of troops
boarded the Ocean class transport. At 4km in length, she was bigger than his
battlecruiser, the command ship of the force, but smaller than the Deathwing
escort carrier that would be guarding her. The only ship in the force that
was any bigger was the Argus class transport that would be carrying the
11,000 support aircraft. That didn't include the drop ships permanently
attached to every platoon. They amounted to 100,000 for the entire Marine
group boarding the Ocean class transport. To speed things up, the troops
were using both their feet and the transporters. It was a heart lifting
sight to see the seven foot giants, for giants they literally were compared
to the rest of the Boyd, board the transports.
"Just like the good old days," murmured Jonathan. It had been a long time,
from the perspective of humans, though but a blink as the universe measured
time, since he had commanded grunts like these. Not since the old battles
against Sheppard. Yes, they were dumb, but did it hurt when they hit you and
there was nothing to match them for endurance. They were even carrying
MP-10s, the actual mechanism replaced with a rail gun of course.
"Emperor Boyd to the bridge, Emperor Boyd to the bridge."
Ah, it was about time those words had been spoken. Checking one last time
that his Walther was properly loaded, he checked himself in a conveniently
placed mirror. Yes, that suit did look rather dashing on him. Satisfied, he
turned and strode for the nearest airlock. It was time for the Boyd Empire
to demonstrate that it was the greatest power in the galaxy.
[Forget to mention, the composition of the Amphibious Assault Force is as
follows:
1 Deathwing CVE
3 Avenger CG
8 Vesuvius DDG
6 Tempest DDG
1 Argus LPV
1 Ocean LPV
Hope that's okay. The only other ship I want to declare is a battleship
(Purification size or smaller - haven't decided yet) with armament and
shielding comparable to my current battleships, with the addition of a new
cannon. I don't want to reveal the details of it, because that would spoil
my fun, but it's nowhere near as powerful as even an Eclipse superlaser. Is
that okay? It won't be introduced for a while. I may even wait until the
next TGOD, but it might come I handy at some point here. I intend to make
several of them at some point after this TGOD, but for now all I have is a
prototype under construction.]

That I got. Which is why I bugged out, taking time to pick up some troops of
course. Did you leave any behind? I may have rescued them.

Okay. Thanks.

There are two (well more but we don't need to focus on the others here)
alternate universes in the S/TGOD universe (due to the fact that in the
civil war some people didn't bother to check what had happened before before
posting stuff) alternate universes here each has a milky way galaxy in it.
The first one is the STGOD universe in which the Boyd collective control
half of the milky way and contains the Earth that Brither Kynes comes from
the time in this universe is about a decade after the end of DS9. The
second one is the ASVS universe, in which the Civil war was fought, the
time in this universe is the year 2000 and Earth is split between the
Sirensha and the Kynesian Imperiate (a military power controlled by the
version of Kynes from this universe - AFAIK he is not a wizard and the two
beings have nothing in common except their name and appearence). The Earth
in this universe has the FAQ on it (the FAQ doesn't exsist in the STGOD
universe) and the Dice that was protecting the FAQ on this Earth was not the
real Lord Graeme but a magical being that he had placed there eons before to
protect the FAQ (AFAIK the Dice are not confined to one universe but travel
between them - i'm sure someone said this before).
I'm not sure which of the two universes the CIN is in (although I originally
assumed it was the STGOD universe), Phong which one is it? Basically TJ is
trying to invade the multiverse and we must stop him, the above is my
understanding of the suituation and I think that it the best solution
countinywise that anyone has come up with so far (in other words no one else
has come up with anything else). Please correct me if I have misportrayed
you above.

Ditto but with a little imagination we can make them both fit.

Nope. I lost an entire Amphibious Assault Army (15 divisions), the base

There's the correctly spelled thread and the incorrectly spelled one. The

When you say "nope", do you mean you left none behind? Or that you left them
behind, but I didn't rescue them?

They're dead, for whatever reason. My fleet couldn't get to them in time
and no-one else could rescue them due to the pressing concern of
evacuating their own troops. Though I suppose you might have rescued some
- but for all points and purposes I've lost an A3 force.

I'll say I got a few of your officers out.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
Ranius spoke, "Most of our fleet wasn't designed for hit and run assaults."
In the meeting room, taskgroup commanders and others sat.
Steelclaw agreed. "Chamachie vessels were built for direct fleet action,
long-drawn out fights. The Minions, to penetrate defensive fleets. The
Protoss are too centered around sublight drone fighters. The Republic and
GTVA could handle it perhaps. The Elite Guard definitely."
Force Commander Yen'gra interrupted, imbedded crystals shining and rippling
as he spoke. "This is the environment the Yedagons are perfect for. My
entire flotilla is centered around what is necessary. Forty years of
guerrilla war against the As'at'si'xa and their psionics should be
sufficient experience. But these bozon fields have proven difficult, even
with the Alliance's force shields protecting us. Ramming assaults will be
very devastating."
"We should disperse, reinforce CIN positions. Force shields give us immense
holding power, even if our weapons do not match."
Everyone agreed to that. Ranius began giving mobilization orders. "The
Minions, Chamachies, GSL, and Protoss will head to CIN positions in most
dire need. The Republic and GTVA will stay in Sol, overseeing defense
construction under such time their fighters are replenished. The Yedagons,
the Elite Guard, and Corben's forces will begin strike missions against the
troll fleets, we'll start coordinating with our allies. But I still have one
concern, Earth."
One of the Jedi responded. "Do not worry Fleet Admiral, the planet itself
beckons with immense psionic power. If Kynes and Dice cannot hold the
planet, nothing we can do will make much difference. But we must reinforce
the CIN, the crystals they hold must not get into the hands of the trolls."
"Very well then, all ships may ready to depart within the hour. The trolls
are already moving."
I pickd up 30K mixed troops and at least 12 wings of Fighters from other
powers. I'll drop them off at Earth.
The entire primary milky way task force had been called here, less the
losses defending the CIN.
The fleet consisted of 14 Executor class III's, 48 Intruder class fleet
carriers, 150 Wirlwind class Destroyers, 400 Akiras and all 800 (till now)
uncommited assault frigates.
It was an impresive force. Imediatly, they started to deploy over Calista
(the local defence strongpoint) hundreds of Chintaka class Orbital weapons
platforms and a pair of Hypermatter power plants as well as quadrouple
planatery shields over the moon. The carriers started to move out, laying
more and more platforms as fast as able. The trolls were comming, and Chris
intended to 'great' them properly.
"Sir it seems we are getting a few reinforcements on Earth while the
rest are rushing to Nemisis to protect the crystals," the Fleet's
tactical coordinator spoke out. "We need to start repairs on most of
the larger vessels once we arrive. The Republic classes and upwards are
lightly damaged but most of the frigate and corvette sizes are gone or
useless."
"The Attack Fleet's Gamma detachment will be here with the Arc Hammer
Mark II in another two hours sir," the supply coordinator rang. "We can
use her dock facilities to do most of the repair work though we have
far to little time to do anything but replace fighters lost that we
still have pilots for."
"What about recon drivers," Wilkens asked turning to his sentry
commander. "We might need to pick your best and toss them in combat
ships once we have a sensor lock on the troll armada headed this way."
"We can probably spare a half dozen squadrons worth," he replied. "No
more or else we won't be able to do our job."
"Tactical contact reported at monitoring poitns Aleph Twenty and Beta
Four sir," the sensor officer shouted, drawing everyone's attention his
way. "It is a reconnisance force, bozon signatures indicate that they
are attached to the troll fleet headed this way."
"Have the Freedom meet us at Rendezvous Ten," Wilkens ordered. "That is
where they'll drop out most likely.
The officers assembled all smiled lightly. They would begin hurting the
trolls as far in advance as possible. Hopefully they would be able to
at least slow the advance. Wilkens knew as well as any that the power
of the forces arrayed around Earth paled in comparison to Kynes and
Dice but he had to do something. The prospect of a troll like TOWNMNBS
possesing the FAQ was too horrible to suppose. At the same time if he
possesed the crystals the result could be equally horrible. It was a
rock and a hard place that the Defenders of USENET were caught between
and fortunately it appeared that TJ was too stupid to actually weight
his forces properly.
---
Rendezvous Ten
In the darkness of this uninhabited system the two New Republic
battlewagons were virtually invisible with only a fraction of sunlight
reflecting off their black hulls. Running lights were extinguished and
most all sensor gear was cold, with the exception of passive systems.
The two vessels were arrayed in a rather simplistic array with a large
space between them centered along the likely line of approach for the
Troll Reconnisance force.
Suddenly they were not alone. Space twisted and radiation bloomed as
several dozen lightly armed escort vessels sudenly burst into
realspace. Following cloasely behing came at least a handful of
cruisers and one battlecruiser, no doubt serving as the recon
commander. This was no light patrol but the leading edge of an invasion
force. Wilkens intended to hammer them hard for their brazen lack of
sensor discipline.
Waiting like a crouched predator the Peacekeeper and freedom watched as
the thirty odd ship force moved along a simple line through the system.
Without second thought they passed in between the two behemoths in
wait, their sensors not powerful enough or brains not strong enough to
comprehend the danger around them. All at once they learned. Flaring
brilliantly the two battleships light up space between them with over a
quarter million Heavy Turbolasers.
Troll ships that were unprepared were instantly vaporized, turned back
into constituent molocules. The heaviest vessel lasted long enough to
raise shields but they had already lost so much strength that the
second volly, a mere two seconds later, came crashing through their
hulls. In seven point three seconds the entire troll reconnisance wing
had ben eliminated. Turning silently as ever the New republic vessels
shifted position and shot forward into hyperspace leaving nothing but
debris as a warning to the coming troll armada.
Thanks for the offer but the Peacekeeper and her two remaining sister
ships the Freedom and Reliance are 70km long and are self contained
repair points. Also the Arc Hammer MkII is a 12km long repair dock with
defenses so I'll be fine. As to fighters, well I can get all the ones I
need for the pilots I have. Thanks for the offer.
"That should do it," WIlkens finished. "Send the message."
"Aye sir," the comm rating replied. "Message receipt confirmation."
"Good, now lets hope the Arc Hammer II can finish up," Wilkens sighed.
It had been a long day, three wings of the troll reconnisance teams had
been obliterated in the same manner as before. They just didn't learn
but their fearlessness was a problem.
"Sir, recon reporting in," the Deck Officer called out over the
background hum of a ship at war. "The troll advanced fleet has entered
Rendezvous Four, the main fleet is one hour behind."
"How much?" WIlkens asked.
"At least twenty battlecruisers sir," the Deck Officer replied scanning
the report. "But they appear to be a little light on destroyers and
cruiser, almost none sir."
"Well it appears Transcend took out all the escorts we haven't seen a
troll Destroyer or Cruiser since the first recon force," Wilkens
mused. "Without their escorts the M-Wings should have a field day, prep
the 27th attack wing now"
"Aye sir, they can launch in the next ten minutes," the assistant CAG
responded. "Time to Rendezvous Three is five hours, that should give
them enough time."
"Do it," Wilkens ordered. "And lets hit them as hard as possible now."

Umm...shit...
A freak magical accident warped Confederation space to the point it
exists in both realities at the same time. I don't like it, but it's the
only real way to explain the fact that I've dealt with both universes.
Jonathan was rapidly losing patience with the CIN sentry, but was determined
not to let it show. Yet.
"You do know who I am?"
"Boyd, Jonathan, leader of the rebel faction opposing the galactic
government of the Boyd Collective, current commander of the Amphibious
Assault Force 'Excalibur'."
"And you would be?"
"Jones, Peter, Private, CIN Marine Corp, sir."
"And who therefore holds the highest rank between us?"
"You do, sir."
"And who will be transferred to Rura Penthe for a little fitness training if
they don't get out of the way?"
The marine paused to think for a few seconds.
"ME sir."
"Glad we've established that. Now please move."
"I'm sorry sir, but I can't let you past."
Jonathan groaned and looked round. There was a small squad of 10 marines
currently standing guard over the entrance to the Shrine of the FAQ. 2 stood
in front of him, while the other 8 patrolled back and forth. There was no
sign of the troll fleet yet and no enemy troops had landed, but these were
professionals in a military that prided itself on its professionalism.
Things would be much easier if he had full access to his powers, but much of
his mind was occupied with keeping the link between his rebels and the
Collective severed. Sighing, he reached for his gun holster.
"Allow me, sir," interrupted BFA-9, bringing his H&K SOCOM up and putting a
bullet through the surprised sentry's head. A fraction of a second later,
the other sentry went down hard. Before the other 8 sentries could react, the
2 grunts who had accompanied Jonathan, had their modified MP-10s up and were
firing. A couple of the marines survived to dive behind cover, but soon went
down as well, outflanked by the Boyd forces. The resistance gone, Jonathan
made sure they'd cause no more trouble, putting another bullet in each and
every head.
"You two, stand guard. Nine, you're with me."
Jonathan had regretted having to use firearms - no doubt they'd set off
sensors, but he had not time to lose. According to allied intelligence
reports, Kynes was on his way. This was the only chance he would have to
take the FAQ.
Sprinting down the stairway that led to the inner sanctum, he was amazed at
the splendour of the trappings on the wall. Embroidered tapestries, oil
paintings, exquisite marble and gold statues all hung suspended on the walls
and from the ceilings. Almost invariably, the depicted Imperial Star
Destroyers brushing a Federation fleet, or the Death Star entering orbit of
Earth. The occasional painting or statue was dedicated to a person such as
Palpatine, Vader and of course Kynes. The High Priest always had to be
present in the shrine in some shape or form. Taking a moment to draw a crude
moustache and beard on a painting, Jonathan ensured that it would not be a
perfect form by any means.
"Terribly immature sir."
"Yes."
Having started from deep within the shrine, it took but a minute to reach
the inner sanctum. Its marble walls were illuminated by a central glow,
radiating out form the FAQ's stand. An ornate lectern was the only ornament
in the minimalist room.
"Running scans..." said BFA-9, pointing a small cylindrical device at the
red leather-bound book.
"It's the real thing, Nine. Trust me."
"Best to make sure though. Scans check out, but I'll show it the sign."
BFA-9 withdrew a metallic badge from a pocket and tossed it in the direct of
the FAQ. In the instant before a dazzling beam shot out from the book,
vaporising the badge, Jonathan saw it to be the Federation crest.
"FAQ all right."
"Then let's go."
Jonathan had picked up the FAQ and was moving for the doorway when the sound
of footsteps filled the air.
"Drop it, Boyd, there's no way out," came a voice form the entrance. "It's
impossible to beam through the walls and hand weapons don't have the power
to burn through. And don't even think about using the Force. We've got
Ysalamiri strapped to our backs. It's over."
"Come and get us."
A small softball sized object rolled into the room and immediately began
discharging gas of some sort.
"Aww crap," muttered BFA-9, collapsing unconscious. Jonathan merely steadied
himself with the Force and began neutralising the effects of the
neuro-toxins being released.
"Not even a Jedi can last forever without breathing. Come on-"
The voice was cut off by the sound of shooting. 10 seconds later, a handful
of grunts in gas masks entered the room. A recently cloned Lieutenant helped
Jonathan out of the room as the grunts hefted BFA-9 and carried him out.
"When the warning went out about weapons fire in the shrine, our forces
attacked the allied. We're outnumbered, but we destroyed substantial numbers
of their aircraft and have air superiority and the initiative on the ground.
We hit their command posts first and they're still trying to reorganise.
There's been no attempt at orbital bombardment so far, but there are fighter
launches from orbiting carriers. We'll probably lose air superiority before
long."
"Is the taskforce ready to fold out?"
"All drives are powered up and essential personnel are at their stations."
"Excellent. Return to your company and pass the word to the command that
you're to begin withdrawing to the dropships. We're going t have to get out
in a hurry."
"Yes, sir," responded the lieutenant, rushing off as soon as they reached
the outer entrance of the shrine.
A couple of platoons were on guard, most with SAM launchers pointed
skywards. In the distance, explosions highlighted the battle lines. Boarding
their APCs, the troops returned to their transport, first dropping Jonathan
off at the _Phoenix_.
"Report," he ordered, upon reaching the bridge.
"Thanks to the marine drop ships, we're maintaining air superiority, but
they'll have to return for fresh missiles soon. Once that happens..."
"And the grunts?"
"Withdrawing to their transport. Once Corp has already boarded."
"Any orbital bombardment yet?"
The officer of the watch shook his head. "We're firing at them, but they
don't seem to be returning the favour. We count 5 dead destroyers so far."
"Make that 5 destroyers and a light carrier," corrected the tactical
officer, grinning. The grin broke off as a message came through.
"Allied forces are counter-attacking. They've got off IX Corp. And the
dropships are out of missiles. They're picking up as many grunts as possible
and returning."
There goes air superiority.
"Bombers incoming."
"Go weapons free."
A couple of Viper squadrons were racing in to attack the grounded 'Phoenix'.
Only 2 fighters made it through the vicious maelstrom of CIWS and
interceptor missile fire that filled the air between them and the 'Phoenix'.
Breaking off, they rocketed for space and hoped for safety.
"Wow, massive bomber formation detected by AWACS, sir. Estimate 8 regiments
coming in. They've got a heavy fighter escort as well. They're coming in at
low orbit form the other side of the planet. 2 minutes until firing range."
"Can we spare enough fighters to break them up?"
"No sir, too much activity this side now."
"How long until our troops are al aboard?"
"Too long with the counter attack in progress."
"Can we sue our weapons to help?"
"we're using our relativity cannons and missiles to keep the enemy carriers
at arms length.
"And the CIWS?"
"Didn't think of that sir."
"And that's why you're only a lieutenant. Fire."
Nadion beams swept across the battlefield, gouging out deep trenches in the
ground and vaporising thousands of men. After the first salvo, the counter
attack faltered. The next broke it, sending the attacking divisions into
retreat. There was no time to take further advantage as the savaged grunt
formations boarded their APCs and dropships to be transported back to their
transport.
"AWACS is off the air, sir. Last report was of enemy fighters closing to
engage. We took 3 of them down before the channel went dead. Estimating 20
seconds to firing range."
The grunts weren't all going to make it.
"Bomber regiments in range."
Every bridge member cringed slightly at the thought of several hundred
targeting sensors illuminating them.
"Vampire, vampire!"
The missiles seemed to be divided half and half between the transports and
their escorts. 'Phoenix' had over 80 incoming and barely 15 seconds to do
something about it. With 700 point defence guns, almost half of which could
come to bear, 'Phoenix's defences were considerably less capable than the
slightly larger Deathwing class carrier that lay a kilometre off her bow.
350 guns against 80 missiles wasn't a terribly taxing matter however.
"They'll have to get closer if they want to get through our defences,"
commented Jonathan.
"I think they know that, sir. They're still coming. Vampire, vampire."
Another salvo blazed out at the Boyd vessels. And another a few seconds
later. The point defences got most of them, but there were a few leakers.
Enough to overcome the shields of one of the Avenger missile cruisers. The
hull wasn't seriously compromised, but her GSD was out and with it, her
ability to fold out. The fighter/bomber formation blazed past, strafing the
wounded cruiser and engaging the remaining dropships. As more CIWS fire rang
struck out against them, a group of bombers broke off, before turning and
accelerating back.
"Targeting lock."
"Surely they're out of missiles by now?"
"They are."
A sudden premonition filled Jonathan's mind.
"Fold drive, now!"
"Engaging."
The battlecruiser shimmered out of existence as the bomber crews parted
company with the universe, though in a more spectacular fashion, ramming the
remaining Boyd ships. Only the Argus, her shields the toughest of them,
remained to fold out on witnessing the destruction of her escorts. All
threats to them gone, the allied fighter force pounced on the remaining Boyd
dropships and troops. It had been a bloody slaughter on both sides.

Not exactly I'm from the STGOD universe and interact with both, there are a
variety of ways to cross between them so if you want to settle down in one
(hint: the STGOD one is better :) it won't be a problem. If you want to you
could just say that the CIN has a few outposts in the other universe - if it
would help. Or you could keep your solution - it's certainly possible
considering the amount of magic that you use there.

FAQ ON EARTH!!!
MY FLEET DEFENDING!!!
MANY SHIPS, VERY POWERFUL!!!
Got it?
Sighs.
Your just Like Sheppard. Comming in and declaring this or that. That is
STUPID
The FAQ is in a fortress hidden deep in the US continental dividem in
Colorado (it's where Kynes lives, after all). I have supplied roughly
300,000 SRDC troopers, now stationed throughout the mountains, with
various bunkers and fortress points built up. To accompany them, we
have 8,000 Virgo II Mobile Dolls, and 2,000 Tallgeese Suits. We have
built a strong shield over Colorado, roughly equivalent to the Endor
shield concentrated over a much smaller area.
For space defense, there is the fleet mentioned before. It is composed
of 10 Base ships, 1500 Destroyers, 48 special purpose Strike Cruisers,
and 500 carriers. Full fighter loadout, BTW.
"Transitioning to Hyperspace, Third Tier. Trans-spatial scan in progress,"
spoke the AI of the frigate.
"Ready torpedo spread and prepare for random transition pattern."
"Targets confirmed, troll medium convoy, 180 ships. Probable destination,
CIN Plebes Sector Base."
"Engage."
Inside the murky red of one of the many dimensions known as hyperspace, the
Shadow Cutter D-Immersion Missile Frigate Battle of New Kuat began launching
a massive volley of torpedoes. They streaked forward and rippled into
realspace. The troll fleet was caught off guard. Missile after missile
slammed into countless ships. The immense bozon fields of the heavier ships
saved them but proximity bursts left burnt and melted armor.
"18 ships destroyed, 42 disabled. Beginning random transition. Transitioning
to subspace, second tier."
"Prepare second volley."
--------------------------------
Thirdspace, Corresponding realspace point: Orion Sector
Normally, a Valor's Hero-class Dimensional Immersion Escort Frigate would
never leave a Shadow Cutter's side but here few had probably encountered
such ships and the Battle of New Kuat had sufficient fighter defense.
Besides, the Memory of Sol could reach the New Kuat in under thirty seconds.
"Mem, acquire targets."
"Troll light fleet detected, enroute to reinforce Orion assault force."
"Load missile bays, fire at will. Begin transition pattern alpha-one-three."
"Firing. Transiting now." The view outside changed as a wave of white light
passed over the Memory of Sol. From Thirdspace, they entered the murky
purple of one of the many layers of hyperspace. "Entering hyperspace, eighth
tier."
"Fire volley two."
"Firing, transiting now."
One of the officers spoke up, "Sir, why are we using standard protocol
against these things? They don't have the capability to counterattack us
here, not like the As'at'si'xa or the Heralds."
"Entering hyperspace, first tier."
The captain responded, "Well, logically since the trolls known about our
d-subs now they would find some type of countermeasure. Of course they do
the illogical thing, though a troll doing the logical thing would be rather
illogical. I'd rather know find a surprise of the trolls developing
transdimensional h-ks now."
"Yes sir."
-------------------------
Unknown System
A jolt shook a number of troll ships as they were forced to come out of
whatever FTL they used. The Alliance did not know themselves, and used just
about every interdiction method they knew. It was only a small portion of
the troll fleet entering to Earth, but then that's exactly what the Alliance
hoped for.
Adding to the trolls' surprise was hyperspatial anomalies engulfing some and
were replaced with small, nondescript freighters. Their formations broke
apart as explosives within each freighter deonated, engulfing them in
maelstroms of plasma and debris. The Yedagons and the Elite Guard pounced.
Rippling into view, they unleashed their firepower. Kinetic missiles
streaked unseen at near c, tearing into and through troll ships. Plasma and
railgun shells smashed against armor. The trolls were disorganized and
confused as they struggled to return fire. They were met with hyperspatial
superlasers melting through their hulls, tearing them into various tiers of
hyperspace. The largest ship, a battlecruiser, was met with the worse fate.
The Freedom's Torch, blasting away like an angel of death, fired its Vortex
Cannon. Armored panels in the tip of its nose opened, a white glow leaked
out and a blinding beam of liquid white fire poured out.
It is not really known what happens to things caught within a Vortex beam,
but the end result leaves very little. From what the Alliance gathered, it
was pure chaos, the target suffered from just about every form of
destruction. Matter into energy. Energy into matter. Subatomic fusion.
Quantum fission. Conversion into antiparticles. Heat. Radiation. Gravity.
NDF. Burned from time. Tore into the void of many dimensions. The fury of
the universe unleashed. The pure chaos of the universe met the chaos and
illogic of the bozon field. Those trolls suffered a rather unpleasant end.
The missing ships found themselves in a deadly crossfire of the GSL. With
ant-like viciousness, the insectoids tore them apart, sending their remains
into matter-destroying parts of hyperspace.
The first strikes were a success. Problem was, a few hundred down, more than
a billion trolls to go.

Waiting to plot a drawing for my final so I'm using Deja. All Stats are
on my page. But there are no links to it fromt he index, use the links
in my sig (non deja posts).
My fleet is: 8 Dreadnoughts 22 Battleships, 30 Battlecruisers, 75 Heavy
Cruisers, 100 Light Cruisers, 110 Destroyers, 20 Heavy Carriers, 30
Light Carriers.
Considering the relative sizes of our ships, you might outmass me by a
small margin. But I thought a few other ships also made it out? Why
don't you add some Heavy Cruisers and maybe some Corvette type ships
you joined up with in the system, some kind of anti smuggling patrol.

Getting out should have been nigh on impossible even if you consider
the force sensitive commando teams I have (if you read the stats I have
three regiments of them) in the area and ignore the rest.

Okay here goes. A standard infantry division is 10080 troops and 337
officers. All are in powered armor and all of them fight. Its kinda
hard to kill juking men in titanium/durasteel armor. There are 432
infantry divisions in theater for about 4.37 million infantry.
A standard armor regiment is 96 heavy armored vehicles (Repulsor
Juggernaughts Mk.II) and 144 light armor FVs (Hover AT-AT Mk.III). This
works out to about 864 hevies per division and 1296 AFVs per armor
division. There are 156 in theater for a grand total of 202176 AFVs and
134784 heavies locked up in armored division.
A standard Light Armor Recon regiment has 68 AFVs and 114 Light Scouts
(equivalent to a hummer in relative firepower). This leads to totals of
612 AFVs per division and 1026 Light Scouts. With 51 divisions in place
this means 31212 AFVs and 52326 Light Scouts in LAR.
Next are the Marine Divisions. These are a dual organization just like
the modern corps. There is one Air Wing and one fighting division for
each "Marine Division." With 30 in theater this means 30 Fighter wings
and 30 Divisions with 3472 Infantry per division (1 Brigade), 1 Armor
Brigade (288 heavies and 432 AFVs), and 1 Regiment LAR. Thus the grand
total supplied is 104170 troops, 8640 Heavies 8640 plus 2040 AFVs and
3420 light scouts.
Finally there are 90 repulsor fighter division wings in theater. These
consist of 4 squadrons per wing and 2 wings per division wing leading
to a total of 720 squadrons on the ground. Then you have to add in
orbital support from the Vipers (72 Squadrons from the Peacekeeper's
alone) and orbital bombardment.
Please note this is ONLY what is aboard the Peacekeeper clas
battleships that are in theater (I have 3, one was destroyed by the
Watts and Joules)

Boyd did you ever read "Starship Troopers?" There really is no such
thing as a command post for the Mobile Infantry. My ground forces,
infantry at least, are almost an exact copy of said command structure.
The only "command posts" are aboard the NRF Peacekeeper and I don't
honestly think you'd be stupid enough to attack her and her two sister
ships.
In other words my troops have near perfect realtime communication on
scrambled and piggybacked carrier frequencies on special hyperwave comm
units that are about as powerful looking as background static and can
in fact travel like background static, untouched.
In other words it is virtualy impossible to launch that strong of an
attack against my troops without warning, especially since you had a
limited number of strongpoints. Next in my list of complaints I have
three regiments of force adept commandos wandering round, you would
never have gotten out past them. If you did, well I still have some
tricks up my sleeve, I will hunt you down.
GRAEME'S JUST KIDDING!
What about the fact that 10 of my ships were Grand Cannon equipped, and
could have vaped his fleet the moment they went hostile?
And don't think I would have given a rat's ass about friendlies in the
Boyd vacinity. I'm on the Zero System, man.
Heero Yuy: 'Anyone that fights is my enemy.'
Besides that, he would never have even been able to attempt to attack.
Why?
My goddam Mechanical Distortion Generators. I have six such systems
spread throughout my fleet, and the moment Boyd decided to betray us,
his ships would be unpowered hulks. Granted, nobody would have been
able to touch him, but the ship engaging the field could just waltz up,
surgically blast away his guns and engines, and deactivate the field so
that we could apprehend his punk-ass.
Probably a good idea for the future. Right now I guess we are awaiting
a decision as to whether Boyd's post is valid. Regardless I'd like to
invite you to have a representative and staff open up shop in the GFMCC
(Ground Forces Mobile Command Center) aboard the NRF Reliance. Its
where I'm running the show with the troops on the ground right now and
General Lut'awax'tabo would be gald to host your officers to help
coordinate a ground based defense. (He's the Attack Fleet's Army
Element Commander)

I was unaware of this. Sorry. Do you have your tech on a web page somewhere?
It would help avoid such problems in future. I'm going to stick up the
details of the Boyd Empire stuff soon. I've got all the naval tech worked
out and the ships are almost finished. Marines shouldn't take too long. I

As I've already said, the orbital ships were holding fire because they
didn't want to kill their troops or risk destroying the FAQ.

IIRC, Rog wrote a post that suggested Kynes wasn't in this universe, but was
en-route form another one. I had plans to steal the FAQ with him being
there, but when I saw that post, I assumed that he wasn't. In fact if you go
back and re-read my post, you'll see that I was in a hurry because I knew
that Kynes was en-route.
> I don't mind your men being

I've said several times that they weren't holding. They were fighting a
delaying action. They were only winning in the opening stages of the battle
because they had the advantage of surprise. After that, they started getting
mauled by counterattacks. Re-read my post. It's all there.

They may have been elsewhere on Earth at the time. They could have been
occupied dealing with the Boyd Knights and Masters that regularly accompany

There's a limit to how many infantry you can have on a front at a time. And
as I said, all I was fighting was a delaying action on a limited front. It
was entirely possible with the number of troops and aircraft I had.

I guess I'll have to. Give me a chance to introduce the Washington class.
I'll move General Kital there immediately. Watch out, he saw action in
the Spacebattles Invasion. He was temporarily trapped there after the
retreat, and he's a bit of a nut job.

Where did you post info about these generators? And how exactly would they
disable my ships?

But you couldn't have fired without damaging the FAQ. Considering you were
trying to guard it, I don't think even you would open fire.

I thought the Phoenix was like 17 km long? It all depends on the
shape. My ships are long thin cylinders, so if your ships are wider
then that they could make up for it.

At least you don't have too many fighters. Hmm, maybe I could have me
meeting up with a new carrier battle group. 1 carrier, 3 major escorts and a
few smaller ones. I could take your carrier force then, but not the rest.

Nah, she's a piddly wee 3km thing. Smallest BC in the fleet. Fastest and
most manoeuvrable though and the only one with a singularity cannon and
phase cloak. First rate comms and sensor suite as well.

Quite a few of the major ships are shown there, although the Phoenix
originally looked like the Invincible class and the Boyd Empire is using
completely new ships (but not fighters).

Maybe, but remember the capability of my fighters. Each equals a
squadron of B-Wings in firepower, and betters a TIE Interceptor in
performance. Not to mention since my ship use missile weapons
they've got massive PD outfits.

Thanks.
The details are all based off of the stats avaliable at my site. (
http://pvmsnews.homestead.com/fiction.html ) Also I would note that I'm
being generous and just using the units stationed aboard the
Peacekeeper-class vessels. In other words all the total you have seen
do not reflect troops aboard SDs, SSDs, ESDs, SovreignSDs, Republic
SDs, MonCal Star Defenders, transport ships etc. Basically When I
declare those forces tobe on the ground its like saying the equivalent
of every other troop unit in my fleet (other than those aboard the
SMCVs) were roasted at Kothis, so this is actually being generous as to
how much I had on the ground.

You're also ignoring the effect of all of Sanchez's stuff that was in
system. Or did you forget that SRDC had a huge fleet prescence in
system more than willing and capable of roasting you alive. This is why
I wanted the post declared invalid, it defied all logic and completely
ignored the forces arrayed against you that would have used orbital
bombardment to turn you into atomic ash. Let me repeat that a single
Peacekeeper can rain 130,000 HTLs every three seconds with energy
levels exceeding 50 exajoules each. That times three plus the MTLs,
LTLs, and Missiles, plus the Viper GAs, M-Wings, and assorted other
craft. I repeat that this is just what I could bring to bear and
Sanchez had more.
If you chose to continue this action I have an ace up the sleeve that I
had hoped to save for a later TGOD but I guess I'll have to play it now.
Go do it NOW, it is an incredible book, the movie sucked but the book
is incredible (well at least I think so) and its a relatively easy read.

Very well, its getting kinda boring to argue this out and since no
moderator has stepped in I'll just toss a wrench in things if it starts
to go downhill between you and Kynes out in wherever. *sigh* this was
setup so nicely with the unstopable troll force attacking the ever so
weak Earth while also overrunning Nemisis and the crystals then you had
to go ruin a perfectly good subplot with another perfectly good subplot
*sigh*. have I ever mentioned that I hate perfectly good subplots?

Hideously powerful PD outfits. Yeuch. I'd really need a 1st rater to stop
you or a squadron of 2nd rates.

In large enough numbers, which wouldn't be encountered unless you attacked
a major Boyd system. They're durable, but don't really have the firepower to
take Asgerds down. A fleet of less than 100, handled intelligently, could
probably wipe out the Collective. But that wouldn't be any fun, would it :^)

It was developed after an intensive study of Bozon radiation. It does
not use the same process as Bozons (therefore it can't be stopped by
Bozon shields), and only affects technology. But it's a doozy. Most
technology more advanced than a simple wheel and axle would be shut
down. There is no currently known way to combat it, but its
inefficiency in fleet combat is a problem.
Basically, your ships, and any ship entering the field would be shut
down. The only vessel in the field not affected by the distortion would
be the ship(s) carrying the generators, because the field is radiating
away from them. This includes my ships, so I'd have to shut it down
before engaging.
Thanks. May look the post up then.

Ack, I thought I was the only person to have developed Bozon technology. The
wraithbone armour would impede the fields though.

"I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or
Not much at all. It really depends on how the organic ship works. Is
it purely organic, down to the point where it generates power through
Bio-Energy, and uses some bizarre means to navigate space?
It affects only technology. The idea was that I would power that up,
and one of my allies with your sort of ship would be free to pound away.
Not much. It doesn't use quite the same method, so it bypasses most
anti-Bozon defenses.
It took less than 2 minutes to explain they're entire history school. Less
than 2 minutes for Jonathan to decide that the only way they'd get out of
this was to run.
"GSD status?"
"Insufficient power for fold drive, sir and interdiction fields are blocking
all other modes."
Time to find another only way out.
"'Vengeance' is hailing us again sir."
It would have been so much easier if they'd just jumped straight home, but
no, he had to wait to see how much havoc he'd caused.
"Why did you do it?"
In any other navy, such a question would have been reserved for a briefing
room, or personal quarters, but not with the Boyd. There would be no loss of
respect for BFA-9's authority.
"He as a threat."
"He was your ally."
"His ships were too powerful. He had to be eliminated."
"You could have been more thorough."
"The error was mine and I will suffer the consequences. He's not interested
in the FAQ, he's interested in me. I'll beam over to his ship, he can do
with me what he wants. You can run."
Jonathan smiled.
"I'm not sacrificing me best officer."
"Then you go sir, take a fighter and leave with the FAQ"
"I can't leave you all."
"Sir, it's our duty to do this. You couldn't sacrifice the Admiral and we
won't sacrifice you."
"Jonathan looked round. The entire bridge crew seemed to be in agreement.
"I guess I'm outvoted then."
"We'll have Lt 43987 accompany you. He's one of our best Viper pilots. You
might need a wingman like him."
Jonathan nodded and left the bridge.
"'Vengeance' is still hailing sir. The Star Marshall has quite a talent for
languages. I've counted 37 individual languages he's sworn in so far."
"Open the channel."
"And where is you gallant leader, admiral?"
"He was more concerned with the FAQ than my honour. He is... Out of the way
for the moment."
"And what honour would you be referring to?"
"The honour you see fit to besmirch, you worthless son of a p'tack."
With that, BFA-9 cut the channel.
"Imperium fleet is backing off and encircling us, sir. 'Vengeance' is the
only one closing."
"The honourable fool. Signal the fleet."
Stopping to see what they had wrought had been arrogant and foolish, but not
without precautions. A small taskforce had been constructed in their absence
and dispatched with all due haste to the co-ordinates they were now at. A
SAG, headed by a BB and a CVBG were now in position.
"'Vanguard' responds. Requesting permission to open fire."
"The Emperor is requesting permission to launch."
"Signal all units. Permission is given."
It was hardly fair. 2 2nd rates, 23 3rd rates and 16 4th rates against The
Imperium forces. The Imperium escorts were more than a match for Imperial
ones, but Imperial ships of the line were an order of magnitude more
powerful than Imperium ones. Besides, the Empire had the 'Washington'. First
of her class, she was revolutionary, as far as Boyd vessels went. Built
around her Bozon Cannon, she was designed to disable, not destroy.
Kyle was tired of posturing in front of a silent 'Phoenix'. This fight was
personal and he was going to take her down himself. 1 ship against 1 ship.
He should have known better than to expect the Boyd to co-operate. The
fighters had launched and formed up to attack when the 'Washington'
decloaked.
"What the hell?" muttered Kyle as the Bozon Cannon fired. The 200 GJ beam
swept through the ship, incapacitating crewmen and shorting out logic gates.
Within seconds, his instrument of revenge had been reduced to a lifeless
hulk.
"No, it's not _FAIR_! You're not going to beat me again, not AGIN!" screamed
Kyle defiantly, but there was little he could do. The main viewscreen, one
of the few functional systems left, showed the 'Phoenix' surging forward,
her relativity cannons opening up on his fleet as cruiser squadrons surged
past to support her. If not for the presence of the lead battleship, it
could have been an even match, but supported by the carrier's star and
battle wings, she began scything through the Imperium position.
"No, don't let them cut you off, stick together!" he wailed as a cruiser
group was isolated and mercilessly pounded by the Imperial fleet. The
battleship, with her quarter mile cannon, was firing every 30 seconds,
sacrificing rate of fire for a guaranteed kill. The hulls of 4 dreadnoughts
littered the vacuum now. Intense missile fire was being exchanged as the
Boyd guided missile cruisers brought their weapons to bear, but the point
defences on both sides were simply too good for significant damage to be
done. Few fighters were to be seen either. The presence of a 2nd rate Boyd
Carrier left the Imperium badly outnumbered. They had more firepower and
shielding than the Boyd Vipers and Snipes that swarmed over every squadron
that tried to close with the Boyd formation, but they weren't quite as
nimble and the accuracy of the fighters' 2" cannons at these ranges was
close to 100%.
Enraged, Kyle pulled out his pistol and fired a few shots into a dead
console, swearing viciously. His bridge crew was dead, the Bozon field
having friend their brains. The rest of the crew were either jibbering
idiots or in the same state and he could do _Nothing_ about it. Suddenly,
the 'Phoenix' seemed to grow larger in the viewsceen. She was slowly passing
the 'Vengeance' once more, tracking an unseen target. She was almost lose
enough to...
It didn't take long to reach the airlock and don a suit. He'd grabbed
weapons from a locker on the way and a small personal shield. He'd even
taken the time to write BFA-9's name on one of the clips hanging form his
belt. Watching as the battlecruiser swung past, he punched the
depressurisation button and nearly had the breath knocked out of him as he
was hurtled out of the airlock. It was a 30 second flight through the void
to the battlecruiser. Hitting with a thud he felt everywhere and would
continue to for several hours, he began edging his way round the hull until
he found an airlock.
[editor's note - I'm assuming Kyle was moving too slowly to be repelled by
shields]
Grunt 973459's assigned battle station was airlock 5. It was dull. Nothing
happened. Ever. He didn't get hull breaches. He didn't get people beaming in
to try and sieze control of the ship. He didn't have ships frantically
trying to dock in the heat of battle, baring important information for the
captain. At least he didn't have the intelligence to get bored. Kyle's
blaster took away his only chance to gain such intelligence, leaving a
smoking hole in his head.
"Oh, your ass is _so_ mine now," he muttered, quickly searching the grunt.
This was going to be _really_ personal now.
Jonathan reached the edge of the interdiction field without trouble. The
numerical superiority of the Boyd fighters prevented any Imperium ones from
engaging him. Waggling his wings in thanks to his wingman, he triggered the
fold drive of his fighter and headed for Talheri Prime. He was relieved to
find the customary reception awaiting him. No hostile fleets, just the
Sentinels. Half an hour later, he was initiating docking procedures. The FAQ
was safe. In Boyd hands. But what of BFA-9?
[You may indulge yourself now Kyle]
"Thakash brai! Activate force shields, carriers remain in hyperspace, launch
all strike craft. All units engage."
"Tracking Boyd fighter containing FAQ, it has folded."
"Damn it. All capital ships concentrate fire on those battleships. Tachyon
cannons act as point-defense."
The fleet emerged from hyperspace. Fighters and bombers streaked forward as
the capital ships lashed out with beams of hyperspatial energy. Vaporizing
countless fighters, they smashed into the shields of lead battleship and the
Washington.
"Captain, I'm reading hyperspatial shielding on those Boyd ships." The
sensors officer faced Thanius and grinned, or the closest equivalent a
insect could manage.
"All ships, activate collectors." The fleet revealed why even the immense
assault cruisers had wings and fins. Golden organic armor withdrew to other
areas of each ship, revealing large solar panel-like collectors. GSL
fighters and combat drones quickly approached the Boyd squadrons, who
suddenly found themselves rapidly losing shielding and the GSL fighters
gaining them. The dogfights began, tachyons and railgun shells streaking
back and forth.
The capital ships meanwhile were relatively ignoring the Boyd escorts,
leaving them to the Imperium. The GSL, being made up predominately of
insectoid hive races, were firm believers of swarming tactics. Light bombers
and drones encircled numerous cruisers and carriers, buzzing around like
gnats, weapons blazing, and "borrowing" those ships' shielding to survive
against the myriad number of point defenses weapons.
"Group Captain, enemy battleship is priming its bozon cannon. We are
targeted."
"Activate the hyperswapper, target: lead battleship."
"Aye sir." The lead ships of both fleets then found their positions
switched. Much to the horror of the battleship, the bozon beam engulfed it
and Thanius's escorts. Immediately, the Washington cut the beam, but already
most of the battleship's crew were gibbering wrecks. Thanius on the other
hand found herself in the middle of countless Boyd fighters. The GSL
flagship ripped away their shields with its immense hyperspatial collectors
and deployed a number of bombs. With collective precision and reaction, the
fighters turned upon the assault cruiser.
Using the fighters' shield energy, the flagship primed for another hyperswap
and switched positions with the Washington. The fighters' second barrage
smashed into its shields. The bombs detonated, and the fighters were
engulfed a hyperspatial maelstrom. The Washington was heavily battered.
To someone's standpoint this was probably all very amusing. And the GSL was
milking this ability for it was worth. Talheri Prime was probably already
figuring out countermeasures. The battle raged on, but Thanius wondered,
what was Kyle doing?
(Hope I didn't over do it with the hyperspace stuff.)

Oi! You're not Kyle! I was expecting you anyway though :^)
> "Thakash brai! Activate force shields, carriers remain in hyperspace, launch

> (Hope I didn't over do it with the hyperspace stuff.)
Hrrrm. It's irritating, but fair enough. I' sure I'll come up with a way to
drain your shields at some point :^)
BFA-9 slammed his fist into his command chair in frustration. It had been a
chance in a million that the bozon cannon would affect the battleship. The
Boyd, due to their linked minds and wraithbone armour, were virtually immune
to bozon fields. There must have been a flaw in our armour. She'd been
launched without shakedown trials, like the rest of the fleet. And,
crucially, without Boyd Masters and Knights on board. They couldn't afford
to take risk like that again.
The remaining Imperium fighters were now escorting GSL bombers as they
struck against the lynch pin of the Imperial fleet; the missile cruisers.
They were the best anti-fighter and anti0missile platforms deployed- with
them gone, the Imperium ships could bring their own missiles to bear. If
they survived long enough. They were down to 2 dreadnoughts now, 7
battleships and 4 battlecruisers in addition to a number of smaller vessels.
In compensation, they had destroyed half the Imperial 3rd rates and most of
the 4th rates.
The GSL assault cruiser was taking a fierce pounding from the Viper fighters
and Barracuda bombers. They had switched off their shields, relying on speed
and agility to keep them safe. So far it was working and the suddenly
considerably more vulnerable GSL fighters were taking losses. What appeared
to be the focal point of the attack, based on the cruiser's port bow, was
nothing more than a feint however. Naval strike bombers, deployed in reserve
by the taskforce's carrier before entering battle, appeared off the
starboard boy, the interdiction fields dragging them out of hyperspace in
position. Immediately the 8 regiments of B-64s launched their 4 AGM-209-Bs.
960 of the cruise missiles raced in with their 10 TT warheads. The bombers
continued to bore in, launching wave after wave of ASM-165s, overwhelming
the cruiser's point defences. In a spectacular explosion, the starboard
shields failed and the savaged remains of a cruiser squadron immediately
turned its relativity cannons on the bare hull. Gouts of fire leaping form
every deck, the cruiser turned and ran from the battlefield.
The battleship was once again operational, grunts having taken the place of
dedicated gunners in some places. Fortunately, the crew responsible for her
primary armament of the 1/4 mile cannon, were still alive and the sickbay
was working on those clones who had been affected by the Washington's blast.
The influence of billions of untouched minds was rapidly restoring them to
sanity, and they would soon return to duty.
Washington was now flying in tandem with the carrier of the taskforce,
sheltering in her point defences and providing anti-ship firepower with what
remained of her main batteries. The Boyd forces had lost the initiative in
the battle and it was now poised to go either way.

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
I had six units with these weapons, on each axis of the planet. (North
pole, south pole, and four equidistant around the equator.) However, I
think we can let it slip, just this once.
Well I was going to work it otherwise but now we'll do this my way.
New Republic Fleet Carrier 46-77A
Home of M-Wing Squadrons "Screaming Devils", "Psychosis",
and "Tarantulas"
They knew how to kick ass, and now was the time to prove it. HIMS
technology had been introduced by the Bakurans over fourty years
before, now it had been incorporated into virtually every single
hyperdrive equipped combat vessel in the New Republic Fleet, the Navy
had a few but they didn't need them as badly. That was going to come in
handy now.
So were the years of work on Electronic Counter Measures and
Dectection. With all the battle data and weaponry the Boyd fleet was
lit up like a christmas tree to any observer. Now that data was being
used to plot precsion hyperspace jumps.
Scant seconds later two jumps were made, the Fleet Carrier and her
fighters and one other group which had been getting a lot of work
lately.
Jumping in through immense interference the HIMS began to cut in almost
immediately but they did their job, coasting the NR fighters up to
within 1,000 km of the Boyd vessels. That was all they needed. With
suprise on their side the M-Wings instantly turned Dr. Device on the
Washington. twenty four beams lanced out intersecting in her center.
The field took hold and here the bulk of the Washington was her own
undoing. Starting slowly then ramping up Dr. Device grew and
obliterated the entire vessel.
AS if that was not enough the Remaining two M-Wing squadrons turned
their beams on the cruisers and battlescruisers of the Boyd fleet.
Scores went down but battlecruisers and cruisers lit the sky
incandescent with a white glow as Dr. Device reduced them to molten
piles of scrap. Viper fighters finally managed to hunt down most of the
M-Wings, they simply didn't have the power to fight like the Vipers
though they still managed kills.
Then the second group arrived. The Peacekeeper, The Freedom, and The
Reliance all slid through hyperspace into the fray unleashing an near
instantaneous barage of Heavy, Medium, and Light Turbolasers. Smlaaer
vessels were vaporized instantly. Boyds heavy ships fought back but
against vessels designed to shrug superlaser cannon shots away like a
bad case of fleas it was simply too little, not after the M-Wing strike.
Wilkens hit the comm button. "Boyd if you don't want me to hunt you
down like a fool then relinquish yourself and the FAQ, otherwise, well
you can see the sensor screens as well as I."
Even as he finished speaking the three SMCVs disgorged their fighters,
M-Wings, lots of them. Each was a ship killer in disguise of a fighter.
With his defenses decimated and jamming/interdiction jumping twofold
there was little left.
---
I told ya'll about the M-Wings, I told ya'll bout the Peacekeepers.
Boyd unless you want to bring some big boys just turn over the FAQ. I
don't want to play God but with you only bringing smaller ships to the
fray it was easy for the Peacekeeper's to mop up.

I don't think so. But don't think that collector thing would work on
MY hypershields:) Boyds are FAR less advanced copies he made to
counter my hypermissiles. Mine have features that the BE could never
hope to understand.
Kyle didn't worry about his fleet. Soon enough the individual
superiority of his ships and fighters would triumph, but for now he
had time for some fun. He was ready for some major league killing.
Before jumping off he'd taken a few seconds to get his combat
armor. Boyd's soldiers didn't have a thing that could stop him. Nor
could he detect him, Imperium Combat armor was the most advanced
Infantry combat system ever invented.
"Should I just walk straight to the bridge and kill everyone on the
way?" Knopf thought to himself. He decided to try something else,
this was going to be fun.
First he went to full stealth mode, now a person could stand next
to him and never even know it, low level hypershields even blocked
the
force as well as magic.
Then he stowed his Grav gun and instead activated the two built in
cutting blades.
--===--
Lt. Boyd-145672 was assigned to damage control, sector twelve. He'd
read a small hull puncture in this area. The grunt assigned to that
area had not reported in, DC Central had sent him to investigate.
"This is 145672, I'm approaching the zone, no indicated loss of
pressure. Wait."
"What is it 145672?" Central queried.
"Central, I've found the Grunt. He's *gurk*" Then the comm ended as
145672's head flew across the room from a single powerful knife
thrust. With his combat armor Knopf was a good match for even a Boyd
Knight, and none were aboard the Phoenix.
"145672 Report, 145672 what did you find?" Nothing but silence was
heard. "145672, what si your status, 145672, repor..."
A cold voice interrupted him, not 145672s voice. "He's dead, and
the rest of you should join him soon enough."
There was no verbal reply. Only the wailing of the intruder alert
system. They were looking for him know, the game was afoot. Knopf
smiled, but it was the hungry smile of a wolf, not one of pleasure,
but the look of a hunter as it readies that perfect shot.
--===--
Knopf stalked the Phoenix. He walked in front of security monitors
with no problems. He would even walk behind Security patrols, or
anyone else and slice of there limbs before they knew it. His blade
was heated and cauterized as it cut. He was a virtual demon.
For know he'd just planted several "surprise" and was standing in
the main drive room. He now used his energy gun. With a good press
of the firing stud a contained vortex of gravity lanced outwards.
The invisible beam struck the GSD system head on. A few seconds of
fire and it destroyed the entire thing, tearing it apart on the
molecular level.
He now jumped to another level to make sure none backtracked the
explosion and switched to the grav gun. Grav guns were less powerful
then energy guns, but they were also less accurate, with a small
adjustment a a cone of hypervelocity darts mangled the entire engine
crew.
He walked over to a comm station and attached a small fold space
comm to it and left. "Baffa Nine this is Knopf. How goes the battle?
HAving a little troubling fighting as you crew keeps dying, or
losing limbs? Don't worry though I haven't forgotten about you, I
should be seeing you soon."
--===--
On the bridge of the Phoenix BFA-9 was anything but happy. The
bridge was now cramped and crowded from the platoon of Marines he
now had guarding it. They covered the only door with heavy weapons,
while the access ducts were covered by a few marines.
*SWISH* The door flew open and the heavy weapons opened up, every
marine on the bridge turned to fire. There was no one there.
"SIR!" BFA-9 looked where the corporal was pointing. It was a dead
marine with a hole through his chest, the duct he'd been covering
was open. BFA-9 began to react, when a stun bomb went off. Everyone
was knocked out.
--===--
BFA-9 awoke in a charnel house. Everyone else in the bridge had
been shot through the head. A glance at the command displays showed
that the internal defense had been turned on, in unrestricted fire
mode. He was the only one left on the Phoenix.
Except for him. He saw his opponent now. Knopf stood in front of
him and smiled. "I think it's time for you to learn some lessons."
The cutting blade pooped out of a fore arm sheath, and glittered in
the dim red light. "I'm not going to kill you, no you're now my
prisoner. But you'll wish I had." With lightening fast reflexes
BFA-9 was lifted off the ground and held two feet above the ground
by his shoulder blades.
With a quick slash both off his legs thudded too the ground. BFA-9
had studied numerous disciplines, but this pain was beyond
imagining, he couldn't stop screaming. Another slash and his right
arm fell off, a final slash and his left arm feel off. The pain was
so terrible he wanted to pass out, but Knopf jabbed him with a hypo
of stimulants. It was pure agony.
"Not so smug know are you Baffa? You know what, I think I'll send
these to Jonathan." He gestured at the pile of limbs. "But before we
leave I've got something to do." He still held BFA-9 in the air and
hit several commands on the command console.
"OK. time to go." Phoenix's shield flickered at the exact moment
that the shields of Terror also flickered. The new transporter
upgrade to his enhancements worked perfectly, in a split second he
was on the bridge of one of Vengeance's sister.
[you told me to indulge myself;)]
--===--
"Throw this piece of shit into the brig, no medical treatment
allowed." BFA-9 was thrown at a marine guard. "Status report
captain?"
The Task Force is fairing fairly well. That Bozon cannon took out
he other seven Dreadnoughts. The crews are still in bad shape, but
the AI's have taken control and withdrawn the ships."
"What about our allies?"
"Both Wilkens and the Alliance have engaged Boyd. Together we're
clearing them out. oddly enough they started suffered some command
confusion about five minutes after you disappeared..." He trailed
off suggestively.
"Did you see that body?"
"Yeah..."
"That's the fleet commander, and second highest member of the new
Boyd Empire."
"But why'd you do that too him?"
"He's also BFA-9"
"Good." The crew of each Vengeance Dreadnought was made up of
handpicked personnel who'd served in this galaxy before. This was
true of the entire Task Force, but those on he dreadnoughts had also
been part of Knopfs crew at the First Battle of Sol, and seen Boyd
betrayal first hand. Not one of them would waste an ounce of pity on
BFA-9.
"How'd they take out the Dreadnoughts? What happened to our
shields, we shouldn't have had a problem with that Bozon cannon."
One word answered this, "Sabotage."
"How?"
"The Boyd, Collective not Empire, changed the settings on the
shield software. It left a whole in the Bozon range. Only Terror
lasted long enough to fix the problem."
"Good work, now lets hit the Boyd again." The battle continued, the
Phoenix just floated alone in space. Lifeless.

Hmm, so psionics/Force/magic could stop the bozon cannon.
The GSL flagship was forced out of the battle. They couldn't afford to lose
many ships and especially not an assault cruiser. The intense torpedo
barrage had penetrated through the shields and burnt away layers of organic
armor, leaving only the refractive crystalline armor. Easily the Boyd
cruisers tore though it with their relativity cannons. If the order had been
reversed, things might had been better. But the organic armor was already
regenerating and the fleet tenders were sending out repair drones.
From the bridge, Thanius watched as the NR decimated the heavy ranks of the
Boyd fleet. Wilkens was also demanding the return of the FAQ.
"Admiral Wilkens, this is Group Captain Thanius, GSL. Boyd has already fled
the area. He has probably reached Talheri Prime, with the FAQ."
But what really gained the attention of Thanius was the rapidly diminishing
lifesign count on the Phoenix. In five minutes, it was down to one, then
none. The battlecruiser was drifting, dead in space. It was well away from
the battle.
"Fleet Tender 3, move out of formation, one light minute. Activate
hyperswapper when in position, target: the Phoenix. Return as quickly as
possible."
Not wanting a second's delay, the tender transited into another tier of
hyperspace and was a second later in position. A purple glow of hyperspatial
energy surrounded it and in its stead was the Phoenix. The assault ship and
the carriers plastered the ship with barrage after barrage of ion cannons
and missiles. A few of the heavier batteries were carefully destroyed. No
need to take chances.
"Deploy boarding parties."
Assault transports were loaded up, combat drones, war droids, marines fully
suited in sealed combat suits, etc. Docking at multiple airlocks and other
points throughout the ship, the scout drones went in first. The ship was
completely disabled, or most of it. Some of the internal defenses chewed
them apart. Heavily shielded war droids waded through, blasting through
defenses one by one. It was a slow process securing each portion of the
ship.
The main transport finally burned its way into the bridge. Bringing in
independent batteries, the bridge team reactivated the computer. Harmless
hard drives downloaded all the data and were loaded onto a unarmed shuttle
which was parked in front of the assault cruiser's main hyperspatial beam
cannon, its engines were promptly blasted off. Slicer droids wiped the
ship's computer, three hundred times over. If the ship was anything like its
maker, you couldn't trust it. Searching for any back-ups, they did the same
to them. Engineering was locked down, all power cores completely shut down.
The GSD was disconnected from the ship and removed.
Thanius began wondering what she could do with this ship. The analyze of
wraithbone could benefit the GSL, providing them with psionic protection,
the Yedagons would appreciate any railgun technology, and the Alliance would
probably like any data on Talheri Prime's defenses.
If the ship decided to act up, it wouldn't get anywhere. This was the
seventh tier of hyperspace, the Boyd probably didn't know about it. Perhaps
only the Imperium and Alliance did. It was not a traditionally used
dimension. Any override commands wouldn't have reached it here. Besides, if
necessary, the slicer droids would be forced to install an old Earth copy of
Windows 98 on the Phoenix. ;)
