STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT
Guest: Writer Brannon Braga and Show Runner of the television series
"Enterprise"
Hollywood's Master Storytellers, the prestigious film series based at
ArcLight Hollywood, celebrates the world of "Star Trek" on Tuesday, June 15
at 7:30 PM with a presentation of the feature film STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT.
In 1966, the late Gene Roddenberry first introduced a television series that
would ultimately become a billion dollar industry with the words, "Space -
the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise..." A
mediocre performer with the Nielsen ratings during its initial three year
network run, STAR TREK's fans proved to be exceptionally passionate.
As a result, Mr. Roddenberry's creation, initially described as "Wagon Train
to the Stars," would ultimately become a global phenomenon, spurring five
hit television series and nine dozen feature films based on both Classic
"Star Trek" and "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (ST:TNG) which
successfully re-invented a television classic, becoming one of the crown
jewels of Paramount's television library. For many fans, STAR TREK: FIRST
CONTACT is the best film to date based on ST:TNG, thanks largely to a
screenplay by veteran ST:TNG writers/producers Rick Berman and Brannon Braga
that showcases all the qualities that made ST:TNG a solid hit for seven
seasons.
STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT's writer, Brannon Braga joins HMS host Dennis
Michael for a lively post-film Q&A. Braga began as a writer on ST:TNG and
rose through the ranks, writing and producing subsequent STAR TREK series,
including "Deep Space Nine," "Voyager" and "Enterprise," which was recently
renewed for a fourth season on UPN.
Tickets are now on sale for STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT and other HMS events
both online at www.arclightcinemas.com and at the ArcLight box office.
ArcLight Hollywood is located at 6360 Sunset Blvd. at Vine.
