A couple more:
"Firestarter" and "The Green Mile"

I may agree with "The Green Mile", but 'Barbeque-starter' had
several glaring mistakes with it that made the movie more mediocre
than moderately successful.

Don't forget "Shawshank Redemption."

Democracy's greatest challenge is that a "majority" can be wrong.

Oh shit, I knew someone would call me up to remember the
differences. I have to admit that I read it ("Firestarter") over 18
years ago, and haven't touched the book since, so I can't remember ALL
the details from it.
About the only one I can remember off the top of my head
involved the fact that when Dad "pushed" someone, the imprint of the
push was still left on the object.
That's about all I can remember.. :-\
I thought you meant internal inconsistancies *within* the movie. (I'm sure
there were some, but I don't recall any.)
That being the case, I agree. I also remember that there were
inconsistancies. But, like you, I don't reall what they were. (It's been
about 15 yrs. since I read it.)

But there are also a lot of movies from Stephen King that do not
translate well on the big screen. Recent example is Dreamcatcher.

The Shining is only considered a good movie because of the director and
actor. The original writing has little to do with the final product if
Kubrick is the director.
