Just wanted to add, again, that this story is part of a series of
stories. Although I think it can "stand alone" to some degree, it is
helpful to have read the ones which come before. Doing so will better
explain the dynamics floating about (and the longer we go, the more
important it will become to know the backstory). In fact, I s'pose I
look on WAE not so much as a story as a "chapter" in a braided novella,
my co-author being Peg Robinson. Yet we're not really collaborating,
in the traditional sense, so much as carrying on a story dialogue.

So, just to clear up any lingering confusion, here is a list (in order)
of the "chapters" to date:

1. Talking Stick (mine)
2. Circle (Peg's)
3. A Cherished Alienation (mine)
4. The Red Queen's Repose (Peg's)
5. Walking Across Egypt (mine)

coming soon:
6. Almonds and Raisins (Peg's)
(I think that's the title she's working with at present)

"Chapters" 1-5 are available now in the a.s.c. archive.
