Hey everyone!
I want to welcome two more new deities to the ASCEM(L) Pantheon of
Insufficiently Reluctant Deities. With these two additions, the ng is
pretty much at full strength staff wise, so I thought I'd do a quick
rundown as to who everyone is.
First off, let's extend a laurel and hearty welcome to the new kids:
Julie <jj...@interaccess.com> is our new Status of Stories Goddess. She'll
be collating all the stories posted to ASCEM(L) into various ways, thus
providing the lists used to create the Golden O ballots.
Ned <n...@blimpht.com> is our new Web Site God. He'll be working on a
website for the group. It was a tough call to make, and I thank everyone
who wrote to me about the position.
These two people, along with Niece Jen, have taken a load of my shoulders
and I'm really *extremely* grateful for their help.
Alexas <ale...@earthlink.net> is our Moderator Goddess. What she's going
to do with her new free time, I have no idea. Get some rest maybe? :-)
anne <asc...@aol.com> is our List Mom Goddess. Adore her, because she
works her butt off to get the mirror list (in three exciting flavors) out
every day.
Jen <cha...@dixie-net.com> is our Co-Moderator Goddess. Now that she has
access and can post her own posts on any given day, Al and I can goof off
even more.
Constable Katie Fritz <reds...@ix.netcom.com> and Dina Lerrett
<rle...@mindspring.com> are our Archiving Goddess. Bow down before them,
because they do a shit load of work, not only for ASCEM(L), but for ASC as
well.
And that's the Pantheon as it stands. Huh? Oh yeah... me.
Ruth <eres...@cyberg8t.com> is the FAQ Maintainer Goddess as well as being
a Co-Moderator. Described in the Encyclopedia Galactica as "mostly
harmless," Ruth's epitaph will undoubtedly read: "Well, she meant well"
which pretty much sums her up.

<Julie shuffles nervously, adjusting the loose fitting toga and
wondering what
the view from the side looks like>
Julie: Yeah, thanks Ruth. Keep those stories coming, people. Work? I
love it.
>Ned <n...@blimpht.com> is our new Web Site God.
<Ned eyes his black leather armour, looking not unlike a certain god of
war in
another fandom entirely. He flicks a speck of dust from his shoulder
and tries
out his new godly powers by snapping up... a beer!>
Ned: Well the interview was kinda rough, but what you'd expect from the
President of TSU. Sweat? You bet I did. Hey and thanks to atara for the
costume.

<Alexas hitches her toga up with her elbows and looks around for the TV
remote.>
Alexas: Ahhhh, "rest", "sleep" even. To knit up the ravelled sleeve of
care...
>anne <asc...@aol.com> is our List Mom Goddess. Adore her, because she

<anne pauses and wonders if the cowboy boots clash with the flowing
robes of
Goddesshood, then shrugs, and continues cutting and pasting away>
anne:<mumbles> Thirty days has September, April, June and November...
So that
means... let's see...<counts on fingers>
>Jen <cha...@dixie-net.com> is our Co-Moderator Goddess. Now that she
has
>access and can post her own posts on any given day, Al and I can goof
off
>even more.
<Chapman grins evily rubbing her hands together, then loses it
completely as
Bucky the pet calf stands on her toe.>
Jen: Stoopid cow!! Piss off! Hey! Come back here! <she chases after a
scared
Bucky whose hoof has become tangled in her new PJ style toga dragging
it off
her pale and ample body and leaving her fleeing nekkid down the hallway
after
him. Of course, just then Olivia walks in>
>Constable Katie Fritz <reds...@ix.netcom.com> and Dina Lerrett
><rle...@mindspring.com> are our Archiving Goddess
<two people in long white robes sit hunched over a keyboard lit only by
the
glow from the monitor>
Dina: Is it right yet?
Constable:No
Dina: Is it right yet?
Constable: No
Dina: Is it right yet?
Constable: No
Dina: Is it right yet?
Constable: No, hang on, wait. YES!
Dina: Sure?
Constable: Um... no.

(like I'm letting *this* through without comment <g>)
<In a pair of grubby shorts and a grey Giants T shirt, a twisted and
dried out
laurel wreath around her hair the only concession to Goddesshood, Ruth
tucks
her Doc's under her chair and scrolls through her last email. It
*looked* ok,
but what did it mean? Sure, lots of people took trek names as their web
names.
Look at all the T'somethings out there. But usually they had an "@"
sign in
their e-addys too. This one didn't. This one just had one letter.>
Ruth: Um, atara? Has Chapman been e-card bombing us again?
atara: Don't think so. Is it rude?
Ruth: No.
atara: Then she hasn't.
Ruth: Oh.
<That didn't help much. Maybe it was <name omitted> being a smart
bastard, and
trying to piss her off. Maybe it was just more spam, like "Granny likes
to
suck your cock! Click here for free sample!" She shook her head. Ah,
the joys
of moderating. >
Ruth: atara? Have the kids been at the 'puter?
atara: They know better than that.
Ruth: Oh.
<So that left...>
Ruth: atara?
atara: WHAT! I'm working here!
Ruth: Has my sister been ...
atara: <giving up and coming over to look at the screen. She reads the
note>
Hmmm, that's not your sisters' style. Look! It's imperfectly punctuated.
There's an elipse there with *four* dots unevenly spaced. She'd *die*
before
letting that one past.
Ruth: Oh.
<atara drifted back to her work. Ruth had the oddest of people writing
to her
every day. She shrugged, already thinking about Ares and his shiny black
armour, and how it looked all scattered about the floor in Herc's...
oops. Not
going there.>
Ruth:<mutters> Hmmm. It can't be *real* then. Can it?
<she decided to print it out. Maybe it looked better like that. The
printer
hummed and produced one typed sheet. Ruth flopped onto her bed and
rolled onto
her stomach, and leaning on her elbows, read the letter for the
umpteenth
time>
<it read>
Dear Ruth, Goddess (apparently) of Ascem/L
So. All these new people. Think of all the spare time you'll have now.
All the
time in the world in which to write new and interesting treksmut. By
the way,
don't think I haven't noticed the drop in productivity lately. My
*friend* and
I are eagerly awaiting the next installment of ACT, not to mention the
occasional TSIM. Sure, we have "other people" who can do it for us, but
it's
like an old comfy slipper. We know what to expect. And the sex is
always so
much fun.
Don't think your efforts are going unnoticed. ... we both know what a
feedback
slut you can be. Like scratching a puppy's tummy at times. How droll it
must
be to drag yourself into work every day instead of indulging your
appetite for
treksmut. Why, with only a snap of my fingers I could.... never mind.
Enough for now. Crack the whip on the new people. Really. You know you
want
to. I suggest a bit gag for that Chapman woman. She's "bound" to make a
bit of
noise. Tell Ned I *love* the leathers, and he looks just too cute in his
little English business suit.
But remember, dear "Goddess". It's all about *me*. And my beloved pet
<g>.
Q
***
<Ruth glanced over her shoulder. Was that a car pulling up outside? Was
that a
knock at the door? Was that eerie guitar music starting up again?>
Ruth: Oooo, a return visit! Goody!
<She rushes to the closet and picks through her wardrobe. This time,
she'd
dress appropriately for a visit from Mr Johnny>
