I said it on ASC, but thought I'd sayit again here: Congrats from both
myself and atara.

Al, that's like thinking you can turn on the TV weather these days and
*not* hear about El You-Know-Whato. In other owrds (for those who don't
live in SoCal), it ain't gonna happen.

Ditto. I was waiting on tenterhooks for the list, not having entered the
contest, but having many friends that did. It hurt to not see some of the
people that entered win, as I think most of their work is far superior to the
DS9 material Pocket publishes, but it was *extremely* satisfying to see people
I have known and read on the list of winners. Not everyone can win I know, but
it's sure nice to see actual fanfic writers get chosen. *satisfied sigh*

Now *there's* a lovely dream. :)

Greco? (sorry, sorry, I'm tired and it's late) I know. Nino is hitting in my
neck of the woods as well. It hasn't stopped raining for almost a week.

But we can hope, can't we? I'd like to feel that some day either Pocket, or
else another publishing house that enters into agreement with Viacom/Paramount
will be more open-minded. I mean, if they look at the numbers, they are
ignoring a significant percentage of their reading audience with their current
policies. I may not write slash, but I enjoy reading it and I would certainly
buy a novel with those themes. I know I'm not the only one. Heck, IMO, the
ASCEM readership alone would sell out a couple of Barnes & Noble's of any Trek
Slash if it were ever actually printed!

Now I'm wondering who they would get to do the cover art. <g>

<WG> Having already done a nice, big formal 'thanks to all" over at
asc, I'll
do this one the easy (but no less sincere) way.

Thanks.

(whew.) Now I can go back to the writing stuff, instead of the
uncomfortable
curtsying stuff. Thank heavens.

"Actually" she said, wringing out her child's shoes, socks, pants, and
such,
and looking reproachfully at the still slightly cloudy skies,
"actually, I have
a good deal more belief in the possibility of getting to *not* hear
about El N.
than I do in Pocket Books running a Treksmut antho. At least the rains
stop,
sometimes." She glares at the departing clouds. "And even reporters and
weathermen get tired of blather. But Paramount never gets tired of
pretending
their characters were all spawned, not concieved, and that they will do
likewise should the time of maturity ever come upon them--thus
Janeway's most
intimate recorded act to date was done while in the form of a
salamander, in a
swamp, and only occured after she'd been thwacked on the head,
kidnapped, and
transformed to a questionably 'higher' life-form by the terrible and
insidious
forces of transwarp. <EG> Apparently, in the opinion of the PTB,
amphibian
mating will be a meteoric evolutionary advance on anything we have
going at
present. I doubt there will be a Treksmut antho unless it deals
strictly with
the dribbling of milt on piles of slimy eggs in a nest of swamp-weed.
Some of
you are talented enough to make even that erotic...but I must admit,
I'm not."
(Though I must admit the challenge is so tempting that I'm having to
struggle
to refrain from trying it, at least as a really farcical bit of
porny-smut.)
