USS Cortez is a Play-By-EMail Roleplaying Game set on a Sovereign-class
deterrence-explorer serving at the far reaches of the known galaxy. Crewed
by a diverse range of individuals, from holographic engineers to telepathic
tactical officers, the Cortez is a unique SIMming environment. Writing
together on the same storyline, the crew gradually constructs a brilliant,
original work of fan fiction that will evolve every time each person adds a
part to the plot. The story will have changed every time you check your
email, and every time you write.
Sounds good? Sure, but the Cortez is just one of many PBEM SIMs out there,
right? Wrong. Unlike many of those games, which are new and run by
inexperienced people, the Cortez has been going since 1997. We've been
