USS Constellation: Without Notice

It was shaping up to be a long day. It seemed every hour another system
failed, no doubt the result of taking a severely battle-damaged starship out
of spacedock after only 3 days, rather than recommended 6 weeks for repair.
Currently it was something about the impulse engines, though with the ship
at medium warp, it didn't slow their progress, though did give Constellation
a sort of "all or nothing" in the speed department. Supposedly impulse
drive would be back online in two hours.
"Come" Moozh responded to the door chime, after a brief pause to put on her
glasses and watched as LT (JG) Douglas came into the formerly dark room.
"Lights" Moozh said before the door swooshed closed, allowing Fraser the
benefit of sight.
Douglas opened his mouth to speak, but Moozh was faster, speaking first, and
not at all about what Douglas expected her to.
"Open the box" she said grimly as she slid a small plastic box across the
table. Her expression remained serious, making Fraser wonder what sort of
evidence was inside, and more importantly, what crime it was connected to.
"I think this indicates something of an oversight on my part" Moozh said as
Fraser picked up the box. "I should have brought it to your attention
sooner.
Fraser opened the box and just as his eyes focused on the solid pip inside,
he saw Moozh's expression change to her trademark dimpled smile.
"Congratulations lieutenant, its overdue, and for that I apologize. Your
date of rank is actually right after the Pisces mission. Peter Erickson
asked me to hold yours until we hit Starbase so he could be present, but
events conspired against it."
As Douglas looked down into the box, Moozh's expression changed back to
business and she said "I'll have the security now, Lieutenant."
