Inter's misery continues with another defeat at home to lowly Lecce. Parma
move back into the title picture with a late victory over Udinese. A mistake
by Van der Sar gifts Lazio a point in Turin. A Totti inspired Roma move to
the top of the league. Atalanta trail them by a point and remain the only
unbeaten team in the league following victory over Brescia.

ATALANTA 2-0 BRESCIA
Donati 17
Ventola 47
Donati scored his first Serie A goal in spectacular fashion, blasting a half
volley into the top corner. Srnicek tipped a cross onto the crossbar
unfortunately for Brescia it came back, Ventola tapped in.
Attendance : 28,000
JUVENTUS 1-1 LAZIO
Tudor 21 Salas 29
Tudor emphatically headed Juve into the lead form a Del Piero corner. Salas
tried his luck from 25yds and Van der Sar either attempted to save the ball
or kick it, he missed and it rolled into the net. He made amends with fine
saves from Crespo and Nedved. Juve had a couple of half arsed penalty
appeals turned down, the type of decisions that used to go in their favour
in the past.
Attendance : 35,000
Assists : Del Piero, Simeone
12 NOVEMBER 2000
PARMA 2-0 UDINESE
Lamouchi 84
Micoud 90
Lamouchi broke the deadlock with a stunning strike. Micoud's goal was almost
as good, a low shot curled inside the post.

BARI 1-3 MILAN
Madsen 71 Bierhoff 67
Shevchenko 74
(Pen), 85
Given the number of chances created by both teams it was surprising that it
took 67 minutes for the first goal to arrive, Bierhoff heading in Coco's
cross. Madsen equalised with an excellent volley from the edge of the box.
Shevchenko put Milan back in front from the penalty spot, awarded for a
rugby tackle on Coco and made the game safe from Jose Mari's cut back.
Attendance : 35,000
Assists : Coco (x2), Jose Mari
BOLOGNA 1-1 FIORENTINA
Cruz 38 Leandro 64 (Pen)
Signori and Nuno Gomes missed sitters. Wome intercepted a ball and passed to
Cruz, he ran from the half way line, turned Pierini inside out twice and
shot into the corner. The ref dreamed up a penalty for a supposed foul on
Leandro, he beat Pagliuca with ease. Repka was sent off for an equally
dubious foul on Cruz.
Attendance : 25,000
Assists : Wome, Leandro
Red Card : Repka 90 (Fiorentina)
INTER 0-1 LECCE
Vugrinec 20
Inter were awarded a penalty for a foul on Sukur. Chimenti brilliantly
tipped Blanc's spot kick to safety. Piangerelli pounced on slack control by
Farinos (or Jugovic) and passed to Conticchio who in turn found Vugrinec and
the Croat slammed a first time shot past Ballotta. Malusci was harshly sent
off for 'bringing' down Sukur when through on goal. A rusty Vieri wasted
several chances though Sukur was guilty of the worst miss, heading over from
a rebound in front of goal. Ballotta made an excellent save to deny
Lucarelli.
Attendance : 60,000
Assist : Conticchio
Red Card : Malusci 31 (Lecce)
PERUGIA 1-1 NAPOLI
Materazzi 70 (Pen) Amoruso 18
Amoruso tapped in a rebound after Belucci's shot came off the post and then
wasted a glorious chance to increase their lead. Perugia dominated the
second half but needed a dodgy penalty to get a share of the points but
they should have bagged all three. Baldini walked for a reckless foul.
Attendance : 10,000
Assists : Bucchi
Red Card : Baldini 78 (Napoli)
ROMA 2-1 REGGINA
Totti 29 (Pen) Bogdani 54
Montella 70
Totti fell in the box, Collina gave a penalty, Totti converted. Taibi made
an excellent save from Candela and typically following up with one of his
specials, spilling a pass to Delvecchio who should be shot for missing an
open goal. Bogdani rose above the Roma defence to head in a free kick. Taibi
made World Class saves from Totti and Cafu before Montella won the match
with a great goal, Zanetti launched the ball into the box, Totti headed
down and Montella volleyed into the net.
Attendance : 55,000
Assists : Totti (x2), Jiranek
VICENZA 2-2 VERONA
Luiso 52 Bonazzoli 55
Dal Canto 66 Camoranesi 82
Ferron blocked Toni's shot but the ball fell kindly to Luiso unmarked in
front of goal. Bonazzoli equalised with a looping header. The unfortunate
Ferron did it again, he made a brilliant save from Bernardini's free kick
but Dal Canto was quickest to react and poked in. Camoranesi powerfully
heading in Salvetti's corner.
Attendance : 14,000
Assists : Salvetti
Red Card : Laursen 89 (Verona)

Unfortunately, I had the displeasure of watching this dire match. Not quite
as bad as Villa v Derby though.

Speaking of gifts. The Lazio defence went to sleep on this corner and Tudor
strolled up to meet the incoming ball.

100 km/h is not exactly what I call roll. Van der Sar had similar problems with
with Veron blast from 35 m.

Sure, especially the save from Nedved was good but he looked very shaky
throughout the game. It was obvious that he was frustrated with his performance.

I'd say that on the whole Lazio had the upper hand on this game. Salas played
very well between midfield and attack. Say what you will, IMHO Salas is a real
class act and I don't really think that the diving-like-a-whore syndrome is his
way really. Too often, he's been played as top striker whereas he should play as
forward and get involved in the build-up a lot more.
Can't understand what Oldbaldo is doing in the squad. As soon as he entered the
field Davids got a grip of the midfield. Up til then, Veron and Simeone had had
him neutralized. Pancaro, on the other hand made up for Lazios lack of classy
right wingers He had a very good game and a severely bruised nose.

Zzzzzzzlept through most of this one. Parma seem determined to get a grasp all
the fans out there who got a complete Boyzone section in their record
collections and generally don't want too much excitement in their lives.

Maybe Lippi was right after all and it's time to fire two thirds of the squad.

It didn't seem to be that fast.

He started well at Juve then his form dropped during the title run in.
He's never been the same since gifting Shevchenko a goal last season.

Er yes!

I don't think it's the squad. What the point in spending even more
money? I don't know what the problem is, maybe it's the backroom staff
or pressure from the board. The best thing for Inter to do is plan long
term not short term. They should forget about winning the scudetto for a
while and just concentrate on building a TEAM.

I either want less corruption, or more chance to participate in it.

It is not the squad. They spent 15 million dollars on Vampeta (best #8
in the world, (TM)) and he is not even on the bench. I call it bad
coaching.

Before you buy.
Bad management is more like it - Inter has always been a numbers
game in which the players and the fans end up losing. I don't blame
Tardelli, I blame the insane mixture of pressure and smugness that
surrounds the Inter inside circle.
If I could have my way I would sack the whole lot of "dirigenti"
(management)
including cute and lovable Peppino Prisco and hire some people who
actually want to build a soccer team. There is too much catering to
spoiled stars who come to Inter to rake in the cash and run when the
going gets rough. Time to create an actual team philosophy and stop
throwing rose petals in front of the likes of Ronaldo, Recoba and the
like......Vampeta? Vampeta is a victim of the turnover from Lippi to
Tardelli - he should be sold back to Corinthians (in best Inter tradition
he will be sold back at a great loss no doubt.....)
More players like Javier Zanetti are needed, but more importantly
is the removal of the old hands who continue to demand big names
every time there is any pressure so they can say to the fans that they
are doing everything possible to win. Bull! Doing everything to win
should have started at the bottom ranks and moved up - not the other
way around!
Until Inter understands that a team concept and a philosophy that
fosters teamwork and grit while not submerging skill and creativity
is the only way to win, they will always be the big failure. Going for
the Next Big Name will only perpetuate this sickening wheel of
continual disaster.

(P.S. I also expect Inter to play much better in the coming months as
they adjust to Tardelli after having experienced Lippi. But despite that,
all that I say above still applies.....)
The producer used a layer for stats and graphics. I
especially like when they draw the 9.15m circle (is that ten
yards?) at freekicks. Far to often the defence wall crawls
up to 7.5 m immediately before the shot. Hopefully, this
will force the refs to put more emphasis on keeping the wall
in it's place.

I also heard Eriksson say that he bought him because he's so
cozy, making everybody feel good about themselves. He
contrasted with Signori whom he sold because he was
complaining all the time.

Hmm. Maybe I didn't make too much sense. So let's put it
this way:
Parma without a coke snorting Aspirilla and a Tomas Brolin
athis peak is Bloody Boring.

Yes you're probably right.
