This smacks of a rumour designed to affect share prices. I for one
wouldn't believe it.

I find that very hard to believe. Rumours are always around, and
journalists just want to get more and more "shock value" out of their
stories. But then again, who believed it when they bought Cole?

Well I didn't hear any rumours about Cole. It just came out of the blue.

There is no way that Wright would be allowed to sign for man United,
although he is obviously talented on the field, we just don't want
characters like him playing for Man United.

A rumour designed to affect share prices? That'd never happen.

BTW,did you hear that Ruud Gullit's dead?

This is amusing, coming from a Man U fan!! Oh, I forgot about the
whiter-than-white antics of Schmeicky-pops, Keane (The irony!
Attempting to cynically hack down Alfie-Haaland, he ended up fucking
his cruciate ligaments...Nasty! However, if Haalands leg had been
broken by the attempt, there would have been little mention.) and
Beckham of late.

Before you accuse me of unfairly singling out Man U, all I am doing is
pointing out your flawed argument. Fergie has a long record of
allowing gross indiscipline go, in favour of results...unfortunately
it seems to work.

Any club in the Premier would want Wrighty - His goal against us at
Elland Road a couple of years ago was exquisite, he's just a class act
(on the pitch!).

Surely it is easy enough to see that Arsenal are only giving into what
most would regard as destiny.

For 2 years Man Utd didn't really spend on anything. After going through
with the youth movement it boggles the mind to think how much money they
have available to spend. Arsenal nor any other team can possibly compete
with this type of monetary domination

Sad, but not silly. £3.75m for a 34 year old? Bloody good business
transaction. I still can't see that he'd do it though - we haven't got a
replacement anywhere near his class. Plus, I wouldn't want to upset
any boats if I were Wrighty - there's no guarantee things wouldn't go
pear shaped and cost him a WC98 place.

Lee, Newcastle are not having that bad a start, you have some games in
hand and if you get decent results in them you will be up there with
us. However liverpool seem to be in trouble, for several years they
have continued to play with substandard (judged by their own high
standards) players. If they ever realise that players like Rednapp
are just not top class, and are grossly overated, they will return to
being a threat again. I had said in this newsgroup this time last year
that Rednapp was an average 1st division player, no more, and you can
add 2 or 3 more of the present Liverpool team to that classification.

I certainly hope that they don't wake up and dump the 'excess
baggage, because when they do they have the potential to be great
again (Fowler, Owen etc)

Paul was referring to their, ahem, 'bad boy' status that all four players
share, not their ability.

Btw, comparing Cantona, Best and Keane to Wright when all four play
completely different positions isn't wonderfully brilliant.

Point is you talked about "characters", while the obvious skill of the
above players is in doubt they are certainly "characters".

I don't really think that he is that bad, but really at best an
odinary player, the great Liverpool teams just didn't have odinary
players did they?
As for evans, he really didn't inherit much did he, i think he has
done a reasonable job. But just look at the managers Man United had to
go through before we regained our former glory?

OOOh against, no, wait for it, Barnsley!!!! Drum rolls sound all over the
place. If he has been soooo much better than Fowler at scoring goals, why has
he not started when the worst problem that I can see that MU have is that they
don't score enuff? Fowler's coming back from a serious injury. BTW you can
say he's a more rounded player but, correct me if I'm wrong, I thought
strikers were supposed to score goals. At least that's what I want Chri

When was the last time you watched Redknapp play? Yes, that's called irony.
The last time I saw him play was in the match against Strasbourg and he was
the only Liv player on the pitch who I thought had a decent game. The same
player you are writing off Glenn was saying he would like to see playing in a
sweeper role for England because of his superior passing skills. Not Beckham.
I agree that some of the Liv team is being carried, Jones has lost his deadly
pace, McAteeer hasn't been much on the boil and I doubt Berger's top flight
crednetials. However Redknapp is the player on the Liv team that I admire.
