Chelsea 1 Newcastle Utd 1
(Chelsea win 4-2 on pens)
It's a funny old game... 90 minutes on the clock and Chelsea are
losing 0-1 and although creating loads of chances it looked like they
were going out of the League Cup... Cue an error from Kieran
Trippier, Mudryk finally gets the ball in to the back of the net for
Chelsea and before you know it, penalties!
Chelsea were clinical in the shoot-out, scoring four out of four
penalties, whilst the unfortunate Trippier missed his spot kick and
then Petrovic saved Matt Ritchie's penalty to start the party at the
Bridge as Chelsea head in to the semi-finals.
The match itself was typical Chelsea, a silly error leading to the
Newcastle goal and a lot of huffing and puffing. Chelsea were by far
the better team, they just couldn't break Newcastle down until the
late Trippier mistake. <shrugs> Shit happens!
