At least my beer league team won. This is a true testament to
coaching--before our game, a teammate who'd been to a hockey camp over
the weekend proposed a new strategy for the forwards:
--first player in with the puck, shoot
--second player, go to the net
--third player, go high slot
On our first shift, I came in on my off wing, a la Messier before he
turned into MEssier, ignored my linemates, and took a shot, which by
some miracle beat the goalie. Is coaching really so hard that they need
a crazy loon like Tortorella behind the bench, if some old-time rec
league player can coach so successfully?!?
I'm telling you, if Gillis fires V, I am available to replace him.
