A friend who works for Orca Bay assures me this is the reason
Pavel wants out. It is of course your perogative to believe it
or not. I simply pass it on, as it does seem to make sense, in
light of past rumors. Those in the Vancouver area will have
an advantage over others in determining who I am talking
about, but I am not going to name, names.

--Pavel was dating a certain young lady [ who's aunt has been
in the news lately ].
--this young lady was supplying some members of the Canucks
with a certain substance.
--with certain members of the Canucks being traded, and Pavel
deciding to smarten up, the relationship with the young lady
was terminated.
--she has been unable to accept this, and has been stalking Pavel
ever since.
--that is why he moved out of his house.
--the young lady has threatened to go public.
--Orca Bay does not want to contact NHL security, because of the
pr and legal implications, with respect to the substance.

In light of Pavel's steadfast refusal to talk about his reasons for
leaving, the few reasons suggesting why he wants out not making
any sense, and my friend being the one to tell me this, I must say
I believe it.

Jim, I also heard the rumor that Pavel liked the *snow* in Vancouver.
It does make sense.

First off, everyone seems to know someone who works for Orca Bay who
always seem to have these great stories. I don't know whether low
level Orca Bay worker bees like to gossip, or if people like to take
their stories and stretch them. Probably a little bit of both.

I actually used to work for someone in Orca Bay senior management
(before he worked at Orca Bay) who I still keep in touch with. Want
to know the truth? Most of the time they know about as much as we do
in terms of the players' personal lives. Only the people who are with
the team day to day really know what is going on, and even they would
be speculating.

With that out of the way, does Pavel Bure look like a cocaine addict?
This guy is one of the most superbly conditioned athletes in the NHL.
He comes to camp every year with a body fat ratio hovering around 5%,
and has one of the best bench presses on the team to boot. Trust me,
cocaine addicts can't perform like that.

As for his ex-girlfriend, Dahn Bryan -- ever get a look at this girl?
Does she look like a stalker? Does she look like someone who has a
tough time getting a date on a Saturday night? Give me a break.

Maybe Bure's love life does have something to do with the trade
request, but let's leave unsubstantiated drug rumours out of it, shall
we?

P.S. -- anyone remember the Jeff Brown-Kirk McLean love triangle
story? Turned out to be a load of garbage -- McLean's wife wasn't
even in town when the alleged rendez vous took place, and she had
never even met Jeff Brown once. This rumour, however, was repeated so
often everyone just assumed it was true.

PPS -- everyone who is tempted to recycle this story should look up
the phrase "urban myth", and familiarize themselves with its
meaning...

Hmmm. I wonder if reasons like these are also what drove David Duchovny
out of town, taking the "X-Files" with him. (For those who don't know,
he too has been dating this certian young lady.)

I guess the reason that came back again was Jeff Brown was dealt from
Carolina for a pick on the same day McLean was dealt to Carolina...
weird coincidence.

What do stalkers look like? Do they all have long sharp fangs and
pointy little horns sticking out of their heads?

It even seems to have even the Carolina management fooled when they gave
Jeff Brown away for a song the same day they acquired Kirk.

Frankly, as you appear to have as little verifiable or credible
information as anyone else in this newsgroup (myself included), I'll buy
that. It's a heck of a lot more exciting than Bure being bored or
frustrated.

Because everyone knows Orca Bay is really a front for Triad smack
smuggling operations and OB pays its hooligans with free hits to keep
'em primed and wanting more thus creating the ultimate employer employee
relationship where the employee will have the utmost sense of loyalty
for the employer and the employer may direct his employee to fulfill any
task no matter how illicit?

How would you know? Do you think cocaine inhibits training? Addict?
The rumour that was passed on was that he was a user, not an addict.
Borje Salming was an admitted user. He said he "tried it once."
Yeah, and Clinton didn't inhale.

>This guy is one of the most superbly conditioned athletes in the NHL.
>He comes to camp every year with a body fat ratio hovering around 5%,

As earlier noted, you can be a user without being an addict. Not all
cocaine users are drugged out on the streets and looking like
something out of a William Burroughs novel. Coke is a "recreational
drug" used by millions of affluent people ... without most of their
family suspecting they're users. Same goes for heroin, believe it or
not.

>As for his ex-girlfriend, Dahn Bryan -- ever get a look at this girl?

I'd also note that you don't have to "have a hard time getting dates"
to be a stalker. Sean Young was stalking a famous actor in Hollywood
(whose name escapes me at the moment). Anyone care to offer a
negative opinion on Sean Young's desirability?

>Maybe Bure's love life does have something to do with the trade
>request, but let's leave unsubstantiated drug rumours out of it, shall
>we?

Why? Do we have proof it didn't happen? Is Bure himself doing
anything to dispel rumours? Is he doin' any 'splainin'?

Yeah, and there's also the Gary Leeman - Al Iafrate - Iafrate's wife
triangle. Apparently Leeman was screwing Iafrate's wife, and that's
why the Leafs traded him (before he killed Leeman, who was a 50-goal
scorer at the time). Is it true? Who knows... The point is that it
was repeated in several newspapers and by reliable writers in each
case. I'm not familiar with the one you quoted.

>PPS -- everyone who is tempted to recycle this story should look up
>the phrase "urban myth", and familiarize themselves with its

Just because you call it that doesn't mean it is (or isn't).

Jim, you will have to excuse the bad spelling and gramMar due to the
fact I keep falling off my chair from laughing so hard.

If anyone else had written this load of horse shit you would be
screaming bloody murder. Bure doing drugs, my word. Has the sky
begun to fall Jim you have put in writing something negative about
Pavel Bure. You must have either been drunk, or there was a full
moon.

Regardless of what you wrote about Bure, the fact is that
unsubstantiated rumors arent worth the paper (or screen) they are
written on. You have constantly accussed pretty much every local
reporter of making up shit about bure, stating as facts things they
have no idea about, and lacking professional integrity. Not to
mention the crap you have said about me, and anyone else who has said
anything bad about Bure.

And now to hear this from you. How can you have the audacity to type
this crap in this NG after your stance on this very type of post. I
have said this before, but now it is 100%, absolutely, positively, and
unoquivically confirmed, YOU JIM, ARE A HYPOCRITE!!

Ouch, I just fell off my chair again. Ahhhh...ha..ha..ha!!!

There is every possibility that they just dont like each other. But
the fact of the matter is that how many of us REALLY know the
situation. Everyone has just heard it through word of mouth.

And what leads me to believe that it is probably not true is that it
is a pretty common rumor. There is the Brown - McLean triangle, there
is the Gary Leeman - Al Iafrate triangle that Tom refffered to, and
there was a rumor that Coffee left the Oilers because he was doing
Sathers wife. And I bet if you checked in other teams NG's, there
would be alot more of this same rumor.

So, saying that Brown left the Huricanes because McLean was ariving is
a little niave, and yes, probably just a coincidence. Furthermore, as
professional atheletes, dont you think they would have an obligation
to play on the same team regardless of history if the management
wanted them to. Sort of like, "you dont choose yopur team mates. So
play or you dont get paid!!"

I don't really believe that rumor either Niel, it's just weird that
Brown got given away for a draft pick the day they got McLean.... now,
obviously he was a UFA at the end of the year anyways, but it seemed a
bit odd. It makes me wonder if Carolina management had heard this
rumor enough to believe it..... obviously as you pointed out it's
possible they just don't like eachother, but i don't know if that'd
warrant a Brown trade.

Of course, the Brown trade could be completely unrelated... oh well,
it's the offseason and speculation is fun :)

Maybe you guys can clear up this rumour once and for all for me, a Leafs

broke up a fight between Pavel and his girlfriend. Whats the "truth", as in
