Man, they look good. They have it all.

Hard to believe it was only a few years ago I cheered for a team that was
almost as good.

Fuck them.

And Mike Gillis.

Amen. When Bernier got hurt, the Bruins smelled blood and it was men playing
against boys. Is it just me, or is the reffing getting shittier by the day ?

Did you happen to hear Gillis spouting his bullshit today ? News flash--he has
a plan ! This is the plan I guess which follows the last plan. And was patting
himself on the back for the FA's he signed. Huh ? WTF ? Listening to him made
me throw up in my mouth.

My guess is because of his contract, the slumlords will make him the pres
only, bring Naslund in as GM, and Torts is kept on.

This will free Gillis to concentrate on implimenting his plan without the
pesky details of actually accomplishing something. I need a shower.

This of course will

The goalposts have moved on him though. And when those suckers move on you?
It's all over.

In fairness, he did sign Santorelli and Richardson, both of whom have
played pretty well.

Did you get the sense he's not happy with Torts? He mentioned how V,
when he first got here, was a defensive coach who changed his style.
The implication being, I thought, that Torts is going to have to change
his system as well.

Given that both he and Torts, apparently, have four years each on their
contracts at 2 million per, you're probably right that both will be back
next season.

Surprisingly - at least to myself - I'm not as upset with that idea as
I would have been a couple of months ago. I've been watching these past
few games and have been pleasantly surprised with the play of Matthias
and Jensen. I'm not as pessimistic about the Canucks as I was. I
certainly don't think they'll be challenging for the Stanley Cup in the
next year or two. But, with some luck in the draft and some judicious
free agent signings, they might be back in the thick of things after that.

That's the part I agree with. Was hoping so bad that one day Rypien was
going to get the chance to jam his stick into Chara so hard he could skate
him around the ice like a Ukranian Popsicle.

One can only dream of what might have been.

No class, he threw him under the bus to try and save his own ass.

What the lying asshole counted on was short memories. Gillis was perfectly
happy with V's coaching until ticket demand dropped, tv and radio ratings
fell, empty seats in the building, concession and merchandize sales dropped,
and fans were bored out of their skulls. Then, and only then, did he reveal
his " plan " was always to play up-tempo attacking hockey, and V better
change his damn ways, cause he doesn't like the type of hockey they were
playing eh.

Yesterday was Groundhog Day.

Barring some miracle draft pick out of nowhere, aka Pavel, they're fucked
for the forseeable future.

He says that the Canucks' style was the biggest reason for their
struggles, but Torts implemented the style he was hired to implement, so
the responsibility falls to those who hired him. If Gillis had no say in
that then maybe he keeps his job.

But I see where you're headed: after a good chewing out, he should fire
himself.

I think much depends on the Sedins. If they can get back to some
semblance of their previous form, I think the Canucks can get back into
contention sooner than later - with, as I mentioned, some judicious free
agent signings and some luck in the draft.

On the other hand, if this season is indicative of what we can expect
from them over the next four years, then I would agree with you - the
Canucks could be hooped for years.

I'm going to remain optimistic about their future, and the Canucks'
future, until events prove otherwise.

Golly, Jim: you know so much about how it all works...

..why is it you haven't been hired as a GM yet?
