So the Sharks are going through a full-scale rebuild, and we’re observing an attempt by Grier to obliterate the DW-era prospect pool and supporting cast. This year alone, the number of transactions is mind-boggling:

OUT: Meiers, Ibragimov, Harrington, Hatakka, Emond, Nieto, Merkeley, Weatherby, Criscuolo, Reedy, Agozzino, Svechnikov, Kniazev

IN: MacDonald, Johnsson, Zetterlund, Mukhamadullin, Okhutiuk, Thrun, Peterson, Cardwell, Romanov, Sustr, Blackwood, Gadjovich, Gawanke, Todd, Carpenter, Burroughs, Kaut (?), and now Zadina

Still waiting to see what happens with EK65 and the rest of the core. Whatever happens, Grier is going for size and grit to complement (and in preparation for) the higher-end talent through drafting. The big questions are whether or not these draft picks pan out and will his scouting team be any better. Only time will tell.

I am starting to feel hopeful, with cautious optimism. I feel the Sharks are on the right track. Will they make the playoffs next year or next? Absolutely not. But I expect a little more snarl to their game.

Yeah I'll go along with that. Grier did make at least a couple of head-scratching moves already. He undid one of their better moves, grabbing Essyimont, in a strange manner as well.

I also think we will kill ourselves for not taking Michikov if he comes to the NHL. The Sharks scouting, in general, has been shit for years. Hopefully Grier has fired most of that crew, I haven't kept up.

But I'm on board for a rebuild for sure. Hopeful times coming, fingers crossed
