When you are terrible and in a rebuild it doesn't really make sense to tallk about particular results. Just looking at who may be helping more than hurting.

Also, we were told Grier wanted to build a team with a more physical, nastier identity.

Not sure we really see that, especially the way they don't clear or take bodies in front of their net. Not sure who it was, maybe Duclair, almost got killed trying to fight.

But maybe some positive

Okhotiuk plays with edge and looks like maybe an unexpected silver lining of trade

Hertl having to step up and lead more, and he's doing it

Here's an unrelated, but amazing, couple of stats:

Goals per game: Sharks 32nd, Caps 31st
Power play goals: Sharks 31st, Caps 32nd

Caps record: 8-4-2 (second place)

It's really hard to assess individual performance on this team when the chemistry, and skill, clearly of these misfits is not there.

agree on Okhotiuk and Hertl. Also think Burroughs is not bad.
Eklund needs to play only with Hertl.
Carpenter has been playing responsibly.
Duclair is disappointing.
G Smith is too slow but dishing out some hits
Granlund might be turning the corner.

I think Blackwood is a top-tier goalie that hopefully sticks around long enough to have a better team play in front of him. Unfortunately, we dont know how long that will take. The Sharks should resign him (if he wants to stay) otherwise I could see him fetching a big return come trade deadline.

That is just unbelievable, and probably unsustainable for Caps

Yeah hopefully they can gel at little, and get to the point where it looks more like NHL hockey and we can get a better idea

Related to this is the category of guys who should have been known quantities but are struggling. And again, let's wait, because it's in part due to the chaos and horrible beatings they are receiving. But I would put Burroughs in that category, and he should be a pain in the ass for the other team, and provide leadership to Sharks. He's been OK but just stop all the stupid penalties please.

Hope you are right on Granlund because he looked like a complete bust there for a while

Carpenter should be one of those guys to provide stability.

I don't know that they can trade Blackwood now and just presumably completely collapse into the worst team in history, but OTOH if you could trade him now to the Oilers who should be pretty desperate, I wonder what you could get
