I would propose the following depth chart for the new Sharks defense
(we can argue about this, if you want):

1. Campbell $1.75 UFA
2. Rivet 3.75m
3. Vlasic 0.74m
4. Murray 0.55m
5. Ehrhoff 0.90m RFA
6. Carle 0.95m (extended averaging 3.4m after this season)
7. McLaren 2.50m
8. Semenov 0.65m UFA
9. Ozolinsh 0.63m UFA
10. Norton 0.48m UFA

I have no problem with the last three, as they are there in case the
Sharks get into a Buffalo situation, where all of their dmen go down
to injury in the playoffs. I would have traded Mclaren, though, were
I Doug Wilson.

Since DW didn't trade him, although he was rumored to have tried, I
would demote Carle immediately, and let him be the #1 guy in the AHL
for a while, and regain his confidence. They are paying him too much
to be their #5/6 guy, and he's looked shaky...

Not sure about 4 and 5. Murray has grit and is sandpaper, but
EhrrorHoff has improved of late. He is actually starting to get his
shots on the net. If he keeps doing that, one might actually go in.

I'd scratch 8,9, and now 6 most nights, but if Carle does get sent
down, who gets sent up?

Agree across the board.

The Sharks need one or two guys who can play hockey --AND-- pound
people.

Looks and sounds about right. Ozo below Semenov though, that's pretty
bad, although I can't say it's necessarily wrong.

You talked about Murray a short bit ago. What a boon to the team, his
development. It was interesting, they saw the potential in him, and
tried him on the first line with Hannan last year. He looked great for
a couple games, then the mistakes started happening. Now he's showing
why they tried that experiment, and with Campbell, he should be a very
strong 2nd line D that brings much needed toughness.

The guy makes me smile. He appears to genuinely enjoy applying
punishment, and when challenged, gets a very wicked gleam in his eye.
He's a hammer and should only get better.

Shaky? He's got a ways to go before he's only "shaky"!
