I'll toss in a few I've stayed at....

Green Valley Ranch. Very nice rooms. Beautiful pool but kinda stingy
on hours. The Feast is one of the better Vegas spreads.

Flamingo. One of the best pools in Vegas. Together with the 4 foot
drinks it makes for a day wonderfully wasted :-) OK rooms (the
regular ones - haven't been in their high tech ones) Nice if you can
get a room facing the Bellagio fountains.

Bally's. Large nice rooms. Nice sports book. Crowded smallish
pool.

Sunset Station. Off the beaten path. A local fave. Pretty decent
rooms. A Salvador Dali style pool that's unheated.

Mirage. Also unheated pool. Rooms have luxury feel but small.

Furnace Creek Ranch. OK, so it's a 130 miles northwest in the center
of Death Valley. Lowest point in western hemisphere. Standard rooms
but given where you are, you are so grateful. Great spring feed
pool. Golf too if you want it.

New York New York - windows have a weird pinkish tint, so it always
feels like twilight. If you're near the roller coaster, it feels like
that scene from "Annie Hall."

Luxor - Coolest elevators of all, they go up on an incline.

Hard Rock - One of the few places in Las Vegas where the windows on the
room actually open, so you can get fresh air.

Venetian - Everything about it says "overdone," including the gondolas
in the lobby and the indoor piazza that's lit to feel like it's
outdoors. The rooms were GREAT and big though.

Mandalay Bay - Really nice place, but you have to walk 20 miles to get
anywhere. It's a complex, not a hotel. Comfortable rooms, and a good
place to give a presentation.

Orleans - Feels like the Wal-Mart of hotels.

Dude...it's Vegas. *Everything* is overdone...it's supposed to be that way.

Only been to Vegas once -- stayed one night at Chez Cordo (tastefully
decorated, excellent coffee, attentive staff, and the Flyers on TIVO).
Then a few nights at Exaclibur, where I was expecting kitsch and they
delivered.

Also did a day trip to the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead, which was awesome...

Fresh what now? They don't have any of that in Vegas.

If you've got the cash, or a high limit credit card, they'd probably work
something out for you. :)
