Thanx for your help in advance.

Try contacting Varsity ice hockey coach Mike Gilligan at the University of
Vermont in Burlington. Since he was John's college coach he might be able to
give you some interesting info or an anecdote...and getting a direct quote from
him about John could be a nice addition for your son's report.
Call the UVM directory at (802)656-3131 to get transferred to his office.
Hope this helps.

JH, just curious, but do you live in the area, Burlington I mean, or
did you look that number up somewhere. I ask cause I live in Burlington
myself...

Rick,
I went to college at UVM, and even had the fortune of playing with John my
freshman year (his senior year) as a walk-on. I only played for the Jr. Varsity
team, but I got some ice time with him during training camp and thru out the
season here and there. The UVM directory # is burned into my brain for some
reason. I didn't have to look it up.
So then, you don't want to hear that I went to Clarkson. Or was the
rivalry more tame back then? I know I get some strange looks when I
wear my Clarkson sweater to pick-up games at Gutterson. Die Cats
Die...... Sorry, old habit.......
Not unless it was a parallel universe thing....as far as I know I was
starting college 5 years ago......in NY
Die Cats Die? Ha ha...that's funny stuff...never heard that one even from the
Clarkson faithful when they came to the Gut. I prefer Go Cats Go myself. We
didn't have any chants like that for other schools...we just picked on the
goalie. The best crowd at a hockey game in my experience was at Cornell...those
are some tough fans. The rivalry was pretty intense between us and Clarkson in
the early 90's...we were in school at the same time, although it appears that I
am a little older than you.
What are you doing living in Burlington may I ask? I was thinking about moving
back up there, because I miss it a lot, but don't know if I could deal with the
harsh winters anymore. That was part of my reason for moving from Minneapolis
back to Jersey.
Have you guys recovered from the ice storm yet?

Came here from Clarkson to work at IBM....these winters are pretty tame
compared to back home. We didn't get the ice storm here all that bad
but I was driving back to Burlington from my wedding and got caught in
the middle of it, that got a little messy. Suddenly a 4.5 hour trip
turned into two days and 11 hours in the car......

Normally i would tell you guys to take this to E-mail
land.......but this is the best discussion i have read in here since the
Olympisc started.
.....and since i am from the Cornell area....you got me sucked into
this thing.....heh heh

the 5 winters i spent in Burlington were very very harsh...weeks at a time when
the temp didn't break 0 and with the wind ripping off Lake Champlain up the
hill....<shudder>.....so cold your nose hairs freeze instantly when you walk
outside. Maybe things have warmed up a bit since i left....I can't imagine it
being much colder in upstate NY.
2 and a half days stuck in the car w/ your wife, huh? I can't imagine what you
did to kill the boredom <grin>.

CS...I was thinking the same thing a couple of posts into this dialogue, but
then i thought, fuck it...nothing else to talk about.

It wasn't so bad at school (although the campus itself was on top of a
hill which made the wind quite lovely). However I'm originally from the
Watertown/1000 Islands area which routinely gets mentioned on the
weather channel as one of the coldest locations in America. The most
notable being three or four years ago when it was THE coldest place in
America, cracking the -50 barrier, and that isn't wind chill
either......
I know I am late on posting this but my computer was sick (read: UJ
screwed it up big time) - just to mention I went to Ethan Allen grade
school not far from Mary Fletcher Hospital and UVM. Also, after moving
to St.Albans, dated a girl at Trinity College. Our one outstanding
football win was beating BHS in my freshman year (St. Mary's High School
ST. Albans now closed - graduated in 1951) 13 - 0. We arrived with 15
players to their 4 teams. UJ
