A Skit is defined as one scene of comedy, around 5 minutes, give or take. It
can be part of a particular TV show episode or movie as long as it doesn't
span more that one location, or broken by a commercial.
Monty Python - Holy Grail fight with the decapitated knight.

Monty Python - Meaning of Life's over eating scene.

George Carlin - 7 words you can't say on TV.

SCTV - Fight between Julia Childs & Mr. Rodgers.

SCTV - Lutonia beauty contest.

Abbot & Costello - who's on first.

Blues Brothers - Nun beating brothers down the stairs.

Three Stooges as plumbers/ electricians .

Rodney Dangerfield attends Sam Kinison's history class in Back To School

Mary Poppins chimney sweep scene

Still, the greatest Top Ten ever was the "Top 10 numbers between 1 and
10".

Number 10.....3
Number 9 .....5
Number 8 .....1

and so on. That was classic.

Well you better get used to these lists because according to ed the next
millenium doesn't begin till the year 2001.

I'm going to the B&W today to spend my $20.

That reminds me. Has anyone ever seen the SCTV Daytime HiQ skit?
It was one of the funniest things I ever saw. It was a satire of those
high school trivia games, except with a hollywood squares set-up.
Catherine O'Hara was a hilarious character, Rick Moranis, John Candy,
and the rest. Eugene Levy, who I rarely found funny, was great as a
hostile Alan Trebek.

Monty Python is too damn funny, the entire series blows just about
everything away for me.

You deserve it Jack for all of the leg work. However, if you persist in
posting top ten lists, you will be stripped of that benefit.

Hmmm, the skit I remember of that ilk from SCTV is NightSchool HiQ with
those same characters. Catherine O'Hara kept buzzing in before Alex (Eugene
Levy) had a chance to give the question (thus making him more and more
pissed as the sketch wore on).

Alex Trebek: Ok contestants, the category is music...
bzzzt- Yes, Margaret Meehan from Central Tech?

MM: Love to love you baby?

AT: No Margaret that is not the answer and that is incorrect because I
didn't ask the question yet. You'll have to wait to buzz in until after I
give the question. Ok? Alright then, the category is music.
bzzzt- Uh yes, Margaret Meehan?

MM: the Beatles?

etc, etc, with Alex becoming enraged to the point of declaring the game a
draw and having to bring them all back again next week because there were no
points awarded. I seem to recall either Martin Short or Joe Flaherty
buzzing in consistently and denying that they had done so.

Ah, almost as funny as Harold Ramis (the genius of SCTV) playing Moe Green
on Dialing for Dollars, and 'randomly' calling a Mrs. Green in Mellonville
(absolutely no relation of course, wink wink) and trying his best to give
her the jackpot, without much success.

ah, memories of a misspent youth

Awesome show. Why isn't it on Comedy Central or some other network? I don't need
any more lame SNL reruns, thank you.

And what do I get for my hard work and bravery in leading our ragtag misfit
group to a clear and resounding victory in the quizo war? We wouldn't have had
the certificate without that effort. Well you probably would have won even if
I weren't there, but I have to stake a claim somehow.

Hey! Who are you calling a ragtag misfit?? Ragtag, maybe, but it's nice to
see that considering all of the wacky stuff that goes on here, we're all
fairly normal in person.

Speaking of Quizzo, I wonder if anyone who wasn't there knows the answer to
the question that stumped all of the teams:

What was the number one video rental of 1999?

No, no and no. It was a very popular movie, think really hard. We guessed
Titanic but were wrong. I don't think any of the teams got the correct

The appreciation and gratitude from all Flyers Ngers for showing grace
in the face of adversity...or some shit. Uhh, how about a beer next time

I think you may be merging the two skits together. There were two.
Daytime and night-time. The first one is daytime, done before Martin
Short was a member.
The very first question never gets answered before Margaret Meehan
buzzes in with "The dewey decimal system."
It just builds to a crescendo with Alex getting angrier, Margaret
buzzing in, John Candy as Mike buzzing in: Alex: Mike, southside
(whatrever his school was called ) Candy: Looks surprised, bends over to
the mike "What?
Rick Moranis offering to disconnect anyones buzzer. I remember that the
second one wasn't as funny to me.

buy a beer atr an ng gathering dfor a while.
