trading a 30+ goalie with an unproven past (he played well
on a bad team, but he still didn't turn the Whale into winners)
for an all-star in Brindamour is a huge risk. Isn't Brindamour
worth more than that? He could probably get you a blue chipper like
Bryan McCabe from the Islanders, to replace Desjardins who is a wretched
Coffey-like defenseman. You could probably get Cujo for
someone inexpensive but promising like Zubrus at the trading deadline.
That's a deal that makes some sense, if you want to win now.
Brindamour makes too much for Sather. If Clarke goes
with Hextall again - the Flyers won't be worth watching.
Who wants to see 60 foot slapshots bulging the twine in a
competitive series? I think Zubrus is the key - Clark can't
keep all his top prospects and still get a good goalie.
It's one or the other.

I have it on good authority that Rod is no longer disgruntled. He was
unhappy with Murray, but the new coaching situation suits him fine.

ESPN is reporting that Hartford has gotten zero interest in Sean Burke.
I believe now more than ever we are not seriously looking at any
available goalies. I know Burke is not Cujo, but reading the article on
this tells me we could get him for way less than like a Brindy. Carolina
is in a jam, and I bet we can get him for a song and a dance.

Here is an interesting quote:

But Rutherford said that his phone hadn't rung since he made it clear
to the league that the team would trade Burke, its top goalie since
1992.

Huh?!? If that's your assessment of Desjardians, you must be watching
some very different games than I am...

in regards to the goalie situation, hextall and snow are nhl caliber
goalies but i don't think hexy can regain the form of years ago when he
won the conn smythe trophy and snow still hasn't proven to be a playoff
quality puck stopper. gratton for renberg and dykhuis trade is fair in
my opinion because of renberg recent injury problems and dykhuis is'n't
much more than a role player in philly. gratton played in all 82 games
last year and i think he will be a bigger physical force than renberg.
big and physical play got us to the finals last year the goalies weren't
the only thing that let us down we didn't score much.

Gratton for renberg and dykhauis and therien. You forget to mention that
gratton got 3.3 million. Now we don't have the money to sign Therien.

16 goals in 4 games? Yes everything seemed to break, but the heart of
the breakage was the goaltending taking us out of 3 games with horrible
play at times when we had a lead or were tied.
