I don't seem to dislike the Rangers nearly as much as others in this
group, however, I would MUCH rather see the Devils in the final. Hats
off to Lemaire for guiding his team so well. Can't say I'm happy for
Larry after all that nonsense in and around his departure to L.A. (ie.
demanding to have his number retired). Awesome overtime goal by Richer.
Does anyone remember the year Richer was promised a new Porshe if he
scored 50 goals (I think it was 1988)? He was injured, returned with 45
goals and two games left, and promptly scored five goals in those two
games.
As for the Maple Laughs, no team has ever been less deserving of a berth
in the conferance finals than these boys. The Sharks played with more
heart than the Leafs have seen for the last 17 years. The officials
handed game 6 to the Leafs. No Leaf fan is permitted to whine about
Wayne Gretsky's overtime goal anymore. There is no way that Mike Gartner
should have been on the ice in that overtime period. I guess the
linesman didn't see that high stick because it was too CLOSE to him.
I ask for Devils vs. Canucks.
Has anyone considered a FAQ for this directory? I certainly don't have
the time, nor the answers, but there are some here who clearly have the
knowledge. I've got a suggestion for one of the questions:
Q. How do you say "Roy sucks" in french?
A. This is a trick question. There is actually no expression in the
french language for "Roy sucks" because one never has been, nor ever
will be needed. The reason one exists in english is that all Boston fans
speak english, but sadly know very little about hockey. Other phrases that
fall into this category include "defending Stanley Cup champion Boston
Bruins" and "hard earned victory for the Leafs".
Please note: I am extending an invitation to Canuck fans to be kind to
this news group, since we now seem to be pulling for your team (at least
I am).

He did not demand to have his number retired. It was affered off-the-cuff
by Savard and all of a sudden it spread into a nasty rumour that Robinson
made it a contract demand. Nonsense. Read his book, you'll see. Savard
doesn't deny it either. Crazy how some rumours stay lodged in memory all
these years later...
