By Monday afternoon. Taking all bets.

BTW, see Subban's goal for the Habs 7th? I almost cried. I thought his
mother had died. LOL. Good job, playing to everyone's "demands". Next time
he scores a OT goal though, I hope he mimics a Ovy "jump against the
glass", and everyone can debate what a terrible display it was despite the
fact Ovy does it in games his team leads by 5 goals. (OK, rather, Ovy did
it when his team used to lead by those amounts. Now, he just dreams about
it.)

shock.

Eugene Melnyk has gone on record as saying if Bryan Murray wants to fire
Corey Clouston, Murray better be ready to step behind the bench himself, as
Melnyk won't pay another coach.

Can't really blame him, as it's Murray's fault this team is in such a mess.
Poor drafting, terrible FA signings, etc. Clouston can only work with what
Murray gave him, and Melnyk knows that. I say Murray gets the heave-ho
first. Or both, but definitely not Clouston alone.

I think their last game before the all star break is Tuesday... that
should be his last game as coach of The Cents.

Ahh, well, I picked Monday because I figured that was after the weekend
games (without looking at the sched), but you might have me.

IMO, Cory's just lost this team. I don't think it is necessarily because
he's a bad coach, or Ottawa is a bad team. They just got wrong footed, a
bad streak happened. But if the coach isn't popular, and the streak
continues, sometimes, consciously or not, players just quit. It's normal.

If you hate you boss and everything at work starts falling apart, you
don't work you hardest because your boss getting fired is, in your
opinion, not a bad thing. That's life.

I think Ottawa is, at best, a mediocre team capable of around .500 play
(a bit above or below depending on circumstances), but has quit on its
coach thinking they are capable of much more. we'll see soon enough, the
coach is clearly done soon.

Murray and Clouston are both under contract till the end of the year.
The Sens would need to get about 50 points in their last 33 games to
make the playoffs.

If I was Melnyk, I'd let them finish the season and scoop a high draft
choice. Then I'd let them both go at the end of the season. The only
move I'd consider making right now is a change to the scouting staff.

Craig McTavish made a point on the TSN panel that sometimes a firing is
actually done out of mercy. He considered his firing a mercy firing. That
looks like the case here. It is almost torture to let a team twist in the
wind like that, and leave Coulson just absolutely helpless. It's never good
to let a team be rudderless all year. If I'm the owner, I'm ordering Murray
to go behind the bench.
