Anyone got any insights about who we might get? 2 of these 5 will be
available:
Benoit Pouliot: 6'3" but only 180 lbs. I read power forward on NHL.com and
he had 100 PIMs last year. Only 1 full year in OHL. Born in Ottawa.
Bobby Ryan: Power forward. 6'1", 225. Safer pick as he's been active/watched
longer than Pouliot? Born in NJ.
Anze Kopitar: Slovenian sniper. 6'2" 200. Higher upside? Maybe we have
enough Euro forwards?
Gilbert Brule: Feisty but small. 5'10" 187. Can he bring his physical game
to the bigs? Born in BC.
Jack Johnson: 2 way defenceman. 6'1" 201. Would he still be available
though. From the US somewhere.
I think it's probably more like Trevor Timmins. Timmins is the Director
of Player Personnel and from the comments I've heard from Gainey Timmins is
the man responsible for draft day selections. Andre Savard is the
Canadiens Assistant GM and the GM of the Hamilton Bulldogs.
Only the GM's and scouting staff who have been paying close attention to all
of these players know how this is going to play out. Thrown into the mix
is that the Ducks are listening to offers for the #2 pick. Montreal with
the 5 pick might be able to strike a deal for #2 if they really think it
will make a difference. These opportunities don't come very often so what
happens next weekend may have downstream impact for a decade or more, Lets
hope Gainey and Timmins get it right.
So you can trade him.
Johnson would be good. American. But good.
Bobby Ryan sounds like he could be good. But "Bobby Ryan with the puck,
shoots, scores!" does not have any kind of ring to it. lol.
