Not sure about this guy - anyone know much about him?

Can someone post the details and career stats on Simpson for me please?

Don't know anything about this guy.

I know Craig better. . .

Didn't even know he was a defenseman.

Thanks, in advance.

Filler/insurance. Offensively not much there.

Thanks Earl.

Is he a big man?

Scrapper?

Craig's younger brother?

Big shot?

From TSN

Assets Is as tough as nails and very competitive. Always shows great
team skills. Can be a very effective defensive defenseman, especially when
laying on the body on a regular basis.
Flaws Can get burned by faster forwards in the NHL and occasionally
takes bad penalties. Needs to avoid more concussion problems.
Career potential No. 6 or 7 defenseman.

OTOH, he's played for some pretty bad teams and is still a
career +13. A few years ago he posted a +20 with the
Coyotes and this year he's a -2 on an awful Blackhawks team.
Looks to me like a big rugged pair of safe hands back there
- not top line for sure but the kind of experienced depth
you want. More than filler/insurance.

How come you guys don't know who Todd Simpson is? He has been in the league
since forever.

He's a tough D that likes to drop the gloves from time to time.

Some of you shouldn't only watch Habs game.

Why? We are habs fans...why would we watch some other teams play??

I thought it was that guy,

but it's been so long since I've heard his name, I had a hard time believing
it was the same Simpson.

Figured this guy retired years ago.

My guess he gets in a few games....shows nothing.....sent to
minors.....by seasons end he is released and Habs are out a 6th round
draft pick.

Responsible, big, stay at home dman who despite playing on shitty
teams...has a good +/-.

He is on TSN now and seems overjoyed to be going to Montreal...that always
helps

Not much defensively either. He is a tough guy
but is slow and takes a lot of penalties. I would
rather see Cote play before Simpson.

Aebischer on the other hand seems in no hurry
to show up. He is going back to Denver first to
pick up a few things and then may catch up with
the Habs on Friday. I find it disappointing that
he is not willing to be available and ready for
tonight's game in Boston. It might not be a big
thing but I don't think it looks very good.

Maybe there is a reason he isn't joining them tonight. Another deal in the
works perhaps?

Wow fits right in with the current defensive crap we already have.

Potential 6 or 7? That means 3 or 4 on this team.

Unless he has some hidden untapped potential, it is a nothing trade.
Can he hit people in the slot? Otherwise they have enough defencemen
who save their best hits for the boards. The team is already well
stocked, with number 5 through 7 defencemen, other then to fill out the
roster in Hamilton, depending on how they use him, he could hurt the
development of Komisarek, Streit, or Boullion.. they need to commit to
giving these players icetime, and invest more effort at obtaining
number 1 through 4 defencemen during the off season.
