What's the name of that song played after each King goal at the Forum? The
chorus goes "I love L.A." I've been trying to find out the name of the song,
and who it's from, anyone got any ideas?

It's called "I Love L.A." Randy Newman sings it.

Wrong !!!!

"I love LA", played after every Kings goal, is sung by Huey Lewis.
The song was originally composed in 1990 for a Nike commercial.

I can't swear who actually sings the version played at the Kings
games, but Randy Newman (infamous for "Short People") did
write and release the song in 1982. There was a video on MTV
and the album was called "Trouble In Paradise."

Since I haven't heard the version at the Kings game, I can't
say who is singing it, but I will say that in the Newman version,
Randy's voice does sound quite similar to Huey Lewis.

Wrong again! "I Love L.A." Was written by Andrew Lloyd Weber, to
commemorate the rise and fall of the Taco Bell Hot Sauce Empire!

Almost right, but you're actually thinking of the "I Love East L.A." song.

It is definitely NOT Huey Lewis.
It is from Randy Newman

Here is a snippef of the lyrics.

From the South Bay
To the Valley
From the West Side
To the East Side
Everybody's
Very happy
'Cause the sun is shining all the time
Looks like another perfect day
[Sing along with Randy and me, now!]
I LOVE LA!
(We love it!)

...I moved from Cali 4 yrs ago, but it still gives me goosebumps to hear
that song everytime I see the Kings score on TV (ESPN2 games)

just in case you needed further proof, here is info from the Disney website
(he did the soundtrack for Toy Story)

The Grammy AwardŽ-winning composer, best known for his witty and ironic
lyrics on such hit songs as "Short People" and "I Love L.A.," is a musical
composition graduate from UCLA

I have the CD, too, but you know people not from SoCal never seem to have
heard of it. Most people are like, oh that's a neat song. It was like
SoCal's "national anthem" in it's day.

Actually, it is *ironically* the city's official song. (I'm sure DCLAPUCK
can verify my use of irony here).

I thought it was made the "official" song of L.A. just like "New York, New
York"
and "I Left My Heart In San Francisco" and "Chicago" ???

It was up for consideration but never officially selected.

City officials objected to the line - "Look at that bum over there, down on his
knees"

So the song has hence been the unofficial theme of LA

Yes, I believe they preferred "Look at that HO over there, down on her knees"
