i think he is over rated... does well against teams with weak defenses...
when it comes to playing against great defenses he usually folds...
and the guy throws the ugliest balls ive ever seen...

Sounds like just about any quarterback......
Seriously, though, I used to think that about Peyton as well up until that
game against the Bucs last year.
I used to have the ol' "can't win a playoff game" thing against him as well
until last year.
I think Manning is maturing as a quarterback. I don't think he is the best
in the league, but I do think he is the smartest quarterback at managing the
position who has ever played.

He threw about a half dozen beauties last night. One was a simply ten yard
slant to Marvin Harrison. He caught Harrison so perfectly in stride, it
didn't even appear as if he had caught a ball when looking at it from the
back angle. When they reversed angles on the replay, it was even more of a
thing of beauty. Harrison, running to his right, cradled the ball against
his body with his right hand and brought his left hand over to immediately
tuck it in one fluid motion. He didn't lose a step while doing it. I only
know about a half dozen quarterbacks in the NFL today who can throw a ten
yard strike so beautifully, and one of them is not named Garcia.
The best quarterback in the league?
My vote goes to Tom Brady. If either Manning or Culpepper can get deep into
the playoffs, my opinion might change. Right now, if I had to pick any
quarterback to go out there with a tie game and two minutes to play, Brady
is my man....ahead of even Brett Favre.

That lack of a decent defense should ultimately change. The Colts were
severely hampered this year when they lost Mike Doss, who was supposed to be
their center fielder in the cover-2 formations that Dungy loved so much in
Tampa. However, Manning loses a few points due to his overwhelming
supporting cast on offense. No doubt, he is a premiere quarterback in this
league. I'd take only Favre and Brady before him with McNabb, Culpepper,
and McNair just a hair behind. However, he has had something that none of
those other guys have had over the course of a very large portion of his
career. Manning has had Edgerrin James, Marvin Harrison, and a pretty good
offensive line. This year, Reggie Wayne is starting to come to the
forefront as well, so there is no doubt in my mind that even an average
(Warner-like) quarterback could lead this team to an outstanding offensive
season. Manning has taken it a step further, though, and the only thing he
has yet to prove is that he can win deep in the playoffs.

They will never have a good D in Indy. Manning, Harrison and James are
all salary cap pigs, and according to a buddy of mine who is an Indy
fan, all three have refused to renegotiate their contracts to bring in
defensive help.
Manning does not ususally perform well against teams that can pressure
the QB.

kinds of incentives to count as a big number against the cap.

I've often thought that about the Vikings. Big plays are fun to watch, but
not if it only means that you have the ball for a minute and a half.

I think it would be wise to let Edge go. He's going to cost more than the
Colts can afford.
