A tie is better than a loss. At least Kapernick didn't
throw an INT. Too bad he didn't get the easy TD. If Kapernick
can stay here in SF, I see a good future for him as a star. He
can run the ball as well as he throws and he throws pretty good.

Colin K looks like a solid future qb.

In article <73782a5d-e38a-4b2a...@googlegroups.com>,
He looked shaky early on and was indecisive in the later possessions.

He made a couple of stick throws of 15 yards or so a couple of times.

He's got the arm strength to make those stick throws but remains to be
seen if accuracy is there.

I wonder if the playcalling let him loose when they were so behind.

But then once they got the lead or was tied, it seemed he was being
coached to not take risks.

Like at the end of the game, they had 11 seconds and it would have been
interesting if they tried to isolate a fade in one corner of the end
zone.

Instead, they tried to throw an underneath pattern quick to Kyle
Williams. If he caught that pass, he might have been tackled and time
may have run out.

When he gets more snaps, they need to call plays with him under center.
Those are the plays where he needs the most experience, not the wild
card stuff, which can be effective but doesn't help his development.

I'm not saying Colin can't do the job, I just don't think he will be
given a fair shot to be the starter in SF. It will be interesting to
see how it plays out....

Colin K looks like a solid "back-up" qb.

Yes, "plenty to learn" and I'm not so sure he'll be given the time to
do that.

No time for development now. The priority will be on winning...anyway they
can. Their schedule is marginally tougher than the Seawhawks, including
playing in Seattle and in St. Louis. Plus they play the Patriots while the
Seahawks play the Bills (in a dome stadium in Toronto).

Anyone else think Kaepernick's throwing motion is a little awkward...all
arm, little touch, with a big wind-up (like a baseball pitcher). But it
won't be completely up to Kaepernick (or Smith, when he returns). The
defense simply has to play better.

And you're right...fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. No
excuse for the second fake kick.

Kap is already light years ahead of where Smith was at the same stage, and he's not too far behind him now.

Give him more reps, he's going to need it against Chicago, although the 49ers may have caught a break with Cutler getting knocked out too.

Any word yet if Smith and Cutler will be back this week?

From what I have read it is a minimum 4 day process. He must be symptom free, take the baseline tests again, be cleared, have a full event free practice and then he can be cleared. So weds / Thurs is the earliest we will hear if either of them is cleared for the MNF game.

Yep, hopefully both guys will be ready to go so we won't have to
hear/read excuses from either side of the field.

As of MondaY nIGHT nfl.COM AND ESPN are both reporting that Cutler and Smith's statuses are both uncertain for the mONDAY nIGHT gAME. Could end up with Kaepernick vs Campbell instead of Smith vs Cutler.

Players, coaches and fans of both teams feel bad after a tie, because while
it's not a loss, both teams FAILED at their prime objective: to win the game!

In other words, a tie is a FAILURE. (It just happens to be less of a
failure than an outright loss. But it still should be considered a failure
nevertheless.)
