Add to that the number of people who have turned away from leagues like the NBA completely because of the politics involved, and it doesn't look like a very bright future for ESPN, with or without Disney.

Probably not worth your buying, but you should swing
by a library and look at a copy of,

"Republicans Buy Sneakers Too, How the left is ruining
sports with politics." by Clay Travis.

The Amazon citation is at:
https://www.amazon.com/Republicans-Buy-Sneakers-Too-Politics/dp/0062878530

That cite has an available sample that lets you read
the first 30 pages. - IMHO quite worthwhile.
Especially good, page 5, 12, 25, and especially 27

That cite also shows you could get it delivered to your door for $6.00.

Here is one blurb:

National Bestseller!

Sports media superstar Clay Travis wants to save sports from the social
justice warriors seeking to turn them into another political battleground.

Have you ever tuned into your favorite sports highlights show, only to
find the talking heads yammering about the newest Trump tweets or what
an athlete thinks about the second amendment? The way Clay Travis sees
it, sports are barely about sports anymore. Whether it’s in the stadium
or the studio, the conversation isn’t about who’s talented and who
stinks. It’s about who said the right or wrong thing from the sidelines
or on social media. And we know which side is playing referee in that game.

Having ruined journalism and Hollywood, far left-wing activists have now
turned to sports. Travis argues it’s time for right-thinking fans
everywhere to put down their beers and reclaim their teams and their
traditions. In Republicans Buy Sneakers, Too he replays the arguments
he’s won and lays out all the battles ahead. His goal is simple: to make
sports great again.

Travis wants sports to remain the great equalizer and ultimate
meritocracy—a passion that unites Americans of all races, genders, and
creeds, providing an opportunity to find common ground and an escape
from polarizing commentary. He takes readers through the recent
politicization of sports, controversy by controversy and
untalented-but-celebrated hero by hero, and skewers outlets like ESPN
which spend more time mimicking MSNBC than covering sports.

Travis hopes that if we can stop sports from being just another
political battlefield, and return it to our common ground, we can come
together as a country again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clay Travis . . . or . . . Daredevil

I'm fortunate to have followed Clay Travis's media career since its
humble "pudding-strike" beginnings in 2004. Like Clay, I also lived in
the USVI at that time, and suffered for the lack of NFL Sunday Ticket.
Unlike Clay, however, I was not willing to endure the gastro-intestinal
hell of eating nothing but pudding for a month in order to induce
DirectTV to alter its broadcast policies. Clay is, and always has been,
comfortable taking risks, exploring topics, and taking positions on
subjects that most people would not because of that pesky inner voice
that cautions, "Maybe saying or doing this really isn't such a good
idea." Clay lacks that inner voice. Daredevil is not The Man Without
Fear, Clay Travis is. And it has made all the difference for him. A
cautious, plain-looking man without wealth typically does not approach,
date, and somehow persuade an NFL cheerleader to marry him. A cautious
man does not incur substantial debt attending Vanderbilt Law School,
begin the practice of law, and then quit that practice in the bat of an
eye to begin writing about sports online for pennies on the dollar.
Caution can be beneficial, however. A functioning inner voice may have
saved Clay from squandering $50k trying to corner the market in
qrotesque SEC-colored pants. Or perhaps suggested to him that devoting
an entire show as an homage to leaked pics of Tiger Woods' junk (with
nary a word about Lindsey Vonn's) might not be the best way to broaden
his fan base. Whether Clay's gambits work or fail miserably, they are
always original and rarely, if ever, boring.

The libertarian (and contrarian) themes of Clay's newest book,
"Republicans Buy Sneakers Too," are going to be familiar to those who
follow Clay on Twitter, listen to his national radio show, watch his
Periscope broadcasts, or read his articles on his Outkick the Coverage
website. However, the presentation of those subjects benefits
tremendously from book treatment because not only is Clay is able to
expand his treatment of those subjects in this book, but he's also able
to weave what may appear to be isolated incidents together to assist the
reader in perceiving the big-picture themes.

If you are new to Clay Travis, however, and being exposed to his takes
on the intersection of sport and left-leaning politics for first time,
I'm envious. Clay endeavors, in all things, to be smart, funny,
original, and authentic, and this book is all those things. The back
cover of the book jacket alone is worth the price of admission. I
suggest you start then, and then read from the beginning. You are in for
an eye-opening treat.

5.0 out of 5 stars An accurate depiction why people are losing interest

Clay Travis is a brilliant lawyer/writer. He perfectly documents from
the beginning how the left is ruining sports with politics. One of the
main reasons I did not buy this book when it first came out was because
I thought it was just going to dunk on Kaepernick, but the whole thing
about the left ruining sports began way before Kaepernick and after
Kaepernick. This book also provided a way the Roger Goodell could have
handled the Kaepernick situation easily and cleanly without any media
coverage, if Clay Travis was the NFL commissioner or could have just
advised the commissioner back then I do not think the NFL would have
lost so much of its viewers. "Republicans Buy Sneakers Too" is a much
read for people that want sports to become great again, Clay Travis did
what everyone in journalism should have done from the very beginning,
investigate. Also, the one thing that irked me about this book was how
Clay Travis always had to mention that he worked on democrat campaigns,
voted for Obama twice and worked for Al Gore's campaign, I do not think
that was needed but I guess that's the world we live in.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Concepts were absolutely on point

Clay Travis is an absolute genius. I told my wife that if I had 1/4 the
wit and knowledge of Clay, I too would be a millionaire.
But seriously, this book was an absolute masterpiece. It was very well
written, yet very easy to understand. All of the concepts and points of
the book were details with and facts and Clay made it a point to use
various facts and examples to prove each concept. There were a couple
areas of the book that I felt got a bit repetitive in different
chapters, but I do understand it was probably done on purpose again to
prove Clays point.
For all those people that talk crap about this book, it can only be for
one of two reasons. Either they didn't read or live so far away on a
different planet that they're just a bunch of incompetent and absolute
idiots that don't understand the truth aka facts.
If this was a show, I'm standing up and applauding for an entire minute.
EPIC!!!!!!
