I think that it will be closer, but I can't get past the feeling that
Indy has to win sometime, and I worry that it will be this week. What
is the longest a team has gone without a win?

Chargers 17-10. The Bolts should be able to run against Indy, who's
defense is better against the pass than the run, and I would hope that
they will give the ball to Gary Brown at least 20 times. On the other
side, whether Faulk is juiced up or not, I can't see him having much
success running against the Bolts D. Where he might do some damage is
recieving out of the backfield but I don't think it will be enough.

I believe Tampa Bay lost around 24 straight in their first two years.
Indy won't challenge that record but I do think the Bolts will beat them
this week. The Chargers pattern so far has been to beat up on the bad
teams and get crushed by the good teams and Indy is definately a bad
team.

The Bills-Colts Monday Night Football game was the worst MNF game
so far this season. Both teams looked positively awful.

The Colts have some decent weapons (WR Marvin Harrison, TE Ken Dilger, RB
Marshall "new Metcalf?" Faulk), if... and that's a big IF... their OL
succeeds in protecting their QB for a pass play. Their OL looks like our
OL did against New England and Carolina. The last time we played the
Colts, our defense had a field day against their OL. Their QB was
sacked, what, four to six times? He was pressured into throwing 3 or 4
interceptions. He even fumbled the ball a couple of times.

This game comes down to whether Iceberg's Chargers (the team that played
New England, Carolina, and Kansas City) or Midtown's Chargers (the team
that pounded Oakland into the ground) show up this Sunday at The Q. The
Colts will easily defeat the former while they do not stand a prayer
against the latter team, which would destroy their OL and grind them into
the turf with the running game.

Thanks. For some reason I didn't think a team had ever had an
0-14,15,16, etc. season. I do agree that we have had Indy's number in
recent years. I'm still nervous of a yet-to-win team, though. Thanks
again.

I'll predict 20-10 Chargers. I wouldn't even give the Colts 10 points
except for the uncertainly at LB. The Chargers' defense will be
fired up and I think that the Colts offense is so bad that just about
*any* defense will look good. And, IMHO, the Chargers have a good one.

But Hargaugh is just as banged up, or even more so. My paper today
said that he may miss the game, and the quote from their coach sounded
like he didn't think that Harbaugh could play on Sunday. Marshall has
had a major problem this year...no room to run, no chance to get a
rhythm, and no visible confidence in his offensive line.

The game with KC was so brutal it may very well have lasting effects. I'm
_still_ pissed about Marty's gatoraid shower. Classless.

Anyway, Indy's D is indeed tough and blitzes early and often and is good at it.
Having their backup QB in may not be such a big deal. Paul Justin sure looked
good in that first game with Buffalo. He can scramble too.

The line opened at SD by 7 and is now down to 4.

Slowveia being out is tough to call. The run D will hurt, but coverage may get
better. The secondary will be fine but the run D will be a concern. Then there
is the problem of not getting any pressure on the opposing QB.

This is a classic no win situation for SD. If they win its no big deal, but if
they lose.....

This game has pain written all over it. If the KC crew shows up Indy gets their
first win. I am reminded of the 8 game losing streak Denver had some years back.
Some stupid radio announcer was sitting on a flagpole till they won. The win
came against SD.

It will happen this sunday.

Sad to say it, but Indy will win.

Props to Qualcomm and the CHargers for buying the unused tickets. You will get
to watch it on TV.

Nah, I've never seen us pick up 2 safeties in one game!

I'm not in the habit of making outright predictions, but since Kevin N. is
demanding one from me, here it is:

Chargers 8 - Colts 6

It will be an ugly, ugly game just like the Monday Night Football game
between the Bills and Colts. Both offenses will do their very best to
lose the game while the defense will make their presences felt.

The Chargers finally win in the following manner:

The score is tied 6-6 with 13 seconds left in the game thanks to a close
battle of field goals. The Colts have the ball on the 1 yard line after
a combination of the Chargers special teams cover guys downing the ball
at a great position, the Colts OL committing penalties, and the QB getting
sacked by Norman Hand for a loss.

On 3rd-and-25, OLB Patrick Sapp finally silences his critics by busting
into the backfield and tackling fullback Zack Crockett in the end zone
for a safety.

That's not a prediction. Let's see a final score or at least who's
gonna win and who's gonna beat the spread.

Don't forget the pigeon that makes a low bombing run right over the
line of scrimmage causing untold amounts of consternation among the
Colts OL.

I wrote earlier>>>13-6 Bolts in a snoozer>>>

I will also predict that the Sominex Sleep Aid company will be closely
monitoring people watching this game in their neverending effort to come up
with the best, most effective sleeping aid on the market. They will be pulling
out all the stops in the research, monitoring the brain wave patterns of
spectators and Coach Gilbride in developing the top sleep aid of the 21st
century.
