Majestic: Won't approach Chargers for relocation

LOS ANGELES - The company behind a plan to lure the NFL back to Los Angeles
said Tuesday the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills are the first teams
it will try to relocate.
Majestic Realty Co. managing partner John Semcken said the company is still
considering at least seven franchises for a new stadium some 25 miles east
of Los Angeles.
They also include the San Francisco 49ers, San Diego Chargers, Minnesota
Vikings, St. Louis Rams and Oakland Raiders.
But he said the Jaguars and the Bills are at the top of the list because
they play in small markets that tamp down their earning potential and
because they have little hope of building larger venues in their home
regions.
"Jacksonville and Buffalo are two teams in very, very small markets, he
said. "They are teams that have either outdated stadiums or are having
trouble filling their stadiums or both."
The Jaguars have struggled for years to fill Jacksonville Municipal Stadium
and had several games blacked out on local TV this season. The Bills,
meanwhile, have been playing some home games in Toronto in an effort to
expand their market.
Messages were left seeking comment from the Jaguars and Bills.
Jaguars majority owner Wayne Weaver and Bills owner Ralph Wilson have
steadfastly dismissed any suggestion they will sell or move their teams.
Semcken said Majestic won't approach the 49ers, Chargers or Vikings as long
as they are seeking stadium plans of their own. He said it would not be fair
to interfere with their efforts to remain in their home markets.
Semcken also said Majestic chief executive Ed Roski's preference is to find
owners willing to sell their franchise to a consortium of investors that he
would lead, rather than buying a minority stake in a team that would move
with its existing majority owner at the helm.

That's statement right there is why I don't think San Diego has
anything to worry about. The Spanoses aren't interested in selling.
The stadium dynamics have changed. Taxpayers in other parts of the
country aren't gonna be willing to shell out for stadiums anymore.
Jacksonville did and what did it get them?
It's good for us. The team's not gonna move. We won't need to taxpayer-
fund a stadium and ticket prices won't be going through the roof
because of a new stadium. It's just as well. A new stadium doesn't
make a team play better.

If nothing else, maybe some of the hysterical bleating about "They're moving
to LA! They're as good as gone!" will finally die down after 10 years.

In other words, these Majestic jokers do not really have a clue and cannot
find their ass with both hands. If they want to put together a consortium
of investors and buy a team and build the stadium, nobody is stopping them.
There is enough money in LA to buy the entire NFL, let alone one little old
small market team.
The more that is written about the deal the more Roski looks like a Bernie
Madoff who wants to do everything under the sun with somebody else's money.
Let me explain how fucked up this deal is for real.
1) LA does not need a fucking football team.
2) Nobody is building any stadium, are they?
3) Pretend they made a deal to acquire the Jacksonville Jaguars. And then
pretend it takes three years to build the stadium. How much money do you
think the Jacksonville team would lose as they languished in Jacksonville?
And how long would it take to recoup that? And who would absorb that huge
loss, Roski? Not in your worst dreams.
4) If San Diego or Francisco move to the imaginary new stadium the jobs
gained in CA is exactly zero.
5) The Minnesota Vikings are not going any fucking place.
6) The Majestic liars either have to build a stadium and acquire a team or
else acquire a team and then build the stadium. One or the other.
7) What is going to happen is absolutely nothing. An NFL team is worth a
billion dollars and to build this stadium will cost a billion dollars. That
is two billion dollars. And that two billion dollars is real money and has
to come from somewhere. And it sure as fuck ain't coming from Roski.
8) Roski and Madoff have a lot in common. Roski is promosing an NFL team
that he does not have to LA and Madoff promised investments he did not have
to investors.
9) The idea that the master stadium plan will include office buildings and
condos and hotels and an entertainment district and a retail area is another
bunch of bullshit for the stupid. All of these things already exist in LA
and half of them are going broke. There is no crying need for any more out
in the hinterlands.
10) The notion that this stadium could be built into the side of a hill and
save on construction costs is such a joke that I am surprised that any adult
could even say that with a straight face as if that were a selling point.
On the overall cost of building the stadium and somehow getting an NFL team
to play there how much could it save? About 1/100,000,000 of the cost of
not building it into a hill?
And I speak from experience. I live in Las Vegas which has a meager
population of over two million and no teams and no stadiums. But once every
three or four years some dreamer promises to build one. I ain't seen one
yet and it is going on twenty years.
So put up or shut up. And especially shut up about the Minnesota Vikings.
When you talk shit like that I know you are talking out of your ass.
Stop making untrue press releases and either start building the stadium or
start getting a team to play in the make believe stadium. I am here to tell
you that neither one is going to happen.
