PRICHARD, Alabama -- Prichard police today continued to search for at
least two persons who were with a 17-year-old arrested after a stolen
sport utility vehicle struck and critically injured an 82-year-old
woman, Police Chief Jimmie Gardner said.

The woman, who was not identified by police, remained in critical
condition at University of South Alabama Medical Center but showed signs
of improvement Monday, Gardner said.

Roderick Henriques Williams, 17, was arrested Saturday afternoon after
the stolen SUV he was driving struck the woman as she cleaned her front
yard on Hinson Avenue in Prichard, Gardner said.

Williams, who was already awaiting trial on an adult robbery charge from
when he was 16, posted $15,000 bail Saturday evening on first-degree
assault and first-degree receiving stolen property and was released from
Mobile County Metro Jail.

Gardner said that anyone who knows anything about the incident should
call Prichard police at 251-452-2211.
