For those who missed it, there is now a third talk-sports radio station
in town, the Mighty 1090. It's got about 80% of XTRA's old lineun
(minus Hamilton, Rome, and Hartman). I'm listening to Scott and Billy
Ray right now, and it's nice to have them back.

Besides the Vast Morning Wasteland, they've got Steve Mason and John
Frickie, Joe Tatino, Bill Werndell, John Kentera, and Matt Vesgarsian
from the Padres.

LOCAL talk Radio again, thank God.

Best, R.E.F.

Oh thank god! Anything is better than having to listen to Tony Kornheiser,
Jim Rome and the Dan Patrick & Rob Dibble show. I never thought that Scott
and Billy Ray would ever sound so good!

That's great news! I didn't know it was already on the air, so thanks!

I use to only listen regularly to John Kentera on 690, but since 1090 is a
dedicated San Diego only sports station I'll probably tune in more often then I
used to.

1090 is another 50k burner, too, so you can hear the damn thing up the
coast to Portland.

Mason and Werndell work well together, with Mason not being half as
obnoxious at Hartman.

LOTS of talk about Chargers and Padres.

Good. I couldn't stand Hartman one bit. He was so unfunny that it was just
unlistenable no matter how cheeky Werndell got.

As for Steve Mason, he does a more then adequate job. The most important part
being he's not Hacksaw.

Sounds Good! (literally)

I also hate Steve Hartman. He's very much Like Mike Francesa from Mike and the Mad
Dog. They are both very smart guys who let everyone know how smart they are. Both
have that "I'm always right" attitude.

Coach John Kentera is the best on either station. Too bad he isnt allowed to do
his high school show anymore.

He isn't? I just assumed he was working up the format. He certainly
has a lot of high school content on the show now.
