Just thought I'd pass on that, according to BNR Football Forecaster '97,
Pittsburgh is picked to finish with 11 wins. If you'd like to see what
the predicted scores in all the games will be, or to see predicted
outcomes of other games, visit:

Thanks,

Yeah... Depth in about all the positions, except CB....

To put it another way.... (For Toad Mittendork's benefit)

IT'S THE SYSTEM, STUPID! (You were probably expecting a downfall
when Morris was cut, and when Foster was cut)

When it takes seven guys to contain Bettis' rage, that leave
man-to-man off the line... Kordell should have pretty open receivers.
One of the walls Blake has is no running game for help, so he must
throw into six-seven people. Heck, look what a running game did for
interceptaverde!
Our system has room for Linebackers (and Lineman!) who can not only
rush, but cover passes almost interchangably. We keep teams on their
toes.

I think 10-6. Logjam...

I'll give Cinci 8-8.

Quite frankly, that prediction, in my personal oppinion, is shooting
about 4 or 5 wins high. I mean come on, how can the steelers win any
games without an able quarterback? I mean you have a starting
quarterback that's a rookie starting quarterback, that used to be a
reciever! There is a big difference between throwing the ball and
catching the ball.

My predictions: Stewarts interceptions= more than 20!

Kordell will be passing to the wrong team all season long.

As far as a playoff berth: I wouldn't put your money on it.

The only things pittsburgh has going for 'em: One of the best head
coaches in the NFL, and Jerome Bettis, if he doesn't get hurt!

My predictions for pittsburgh:
6-10

OK... You fell for it... Must be a bengal fan, because he goes
right past all the meaningful stuff (Starting with IT'S THE SYSTEM,
STUPID) to respond about, and instead focuses on what I called him.

Must be a bengal fan, because he can't handle reality. Let's not
talk about how the Steelers rate in offense or defense, or how their
system can make good players out of mediocre ones (Sorry, don't think
Jerry O would have played on any other team. He fits into the Steeler
scheme of things quite nicely), and great players out of good ones.

Cinci's system on the other hand, is like raw sewage. Even if you
didn't jump into it, just got near it, the stench would permeate
everything you do. Coslet has bravely come in with a couple of gross
of stick-ups, but the joint still has a nasty smell to it (even though
quite a few steeler fans come through with the towels and try to
ventilate Riverfront.
Ever notice when Cinci is at Pittsburgh, there's a hazmat truck on
the sidelines next to the abulance? Just in case things get too out of
hand.

Heh.... I like the lack of any supporting factors, aside from the
obligatory "Pittsburgh Sucks". If Pittsburgh sucks, cinci blows AND
takes another one up the can.
I see now why you guys are so disappointed. Every year you expect
them to win all 16. With a name like Shula, we can't lose... I'm sure
that was the genre of posts when he took over from handshake Sam.

Todd Mittendorf predicted the Steelers will go 6-10.
He is so wrong. Pittsburgh will go 3-13. Steelers do
have a good offensive line, Jerome Bettis, and most
importantly, Bill Cowher. However, their weak spot
appears to be the defensive line, with the exception
of Joel Steed. Also, cornerback is a big weakness.
With poor cornerbacks, that means qb's will put up
impressive numbers all season long, and score big.
Because of that, Pittsburgh will not be able to execute
their ball control offense because they will have to keep
throwing the ball to try to catch up; something they are not
accustomed to. Kordell Stewert has his work cut out for
him this year. But don't feel bad. If Kordell busts, the
defense flops, you should be well in line to pick up
Peyton Manning.

Huh????????? Did I miss something?? 3-13??????
What do you base this assessment on, preseason?
The defensive line may be better than you think. CB play
has a very good CB in Wolford, a former All-Pro. They still
have an All-Pro Safety in Lake. As to this question of Stewart,
Brunell threw for over 4000 yds but had more INT's than TD's,
Aikman was what 13 TD's and 12 INT's and the 'Boys were still
there. I watch the first half of the 'Boys last night agains the Lams
and Aikman and Emmitt didn't look sharp!! Neither did their O-line.
A second year QB had a pretty good evening against their defense.
Does that make the 'Boys in line to compete for the Manning sweeps??

Plenty of playoff teams last year had mediorce performance form the QB
and still made the playoffs. Some even had poor defense's and made the
playoffs. Most of the yasrds have been gain against the second team
defense and not the first team. Yet the offense puts up points. Oh
yeah, the opposition in preseason is playing vanilla defense, while the
Steeler's are throwing the entire playbook at them!! Get real.

Right now I think the Steeler's will do no worse than 8-8, NO WORSE!!
I think that they could easily go 10-6.
