Hey Steeler Fans!!

What about a Steeler Great Offspring!!

I have INSIDE information that the Steelers have called John Fuqua Jr.
back for a second tryout.

As you know he was a STAR cornerback at The University of Louisville!!

If you recall, I posted this information back in August of 1997!!

Well, what do you think????

To be honest, Bill, I think the Steelers could always use someone
with your football knowledge. How many people knew that obscure
rule about touching the defensive player first making one eligible
after being pushed out?....But, what's the deal with 'Little
Frenchy'? I saw he was 5'9", and blew up a knee in college, but is
there a particular reason he couldn't/wouldn't make the team?
RE: the Myron Bell thing, could he be a gangsta or something? I
saw that thing on ESPN about how gangs had permeated the NFL and
just wondered (no info on that, pure speculation--so don't stop by
all ticked off "Boo"!), the whole thing seems rather odd. It could
be some behind-the-scenes deal like with Foster where we didn't know
until after the fact that he had cussed out the coach in the
lockerroom, hastening his dismissal.

That was a rather rude comment on my part, and probably out of line... Anyhow, to the best of my knowledge, he's been out of football for a year, and
is a bit short to play in the NFL. The thing is, teams work guys out
all the time, without really having any intention of signing them. When
it's the son of a former player, it's usually a courtesy.

I dunno what the deal is with Bell. Frankly, the guy is a starting
calibre NFL safety, and should have got a lot more interest around the
league than he did. Your theory is probably as valid as any other.

LaVerne,

I think it's fantastic! They need to sign him, then get Franco's son
signed, and they'll have the makings for another "Immaculate Reception!"
Of course, there are two minor details... 1) Frenchy Jr. is a DB, not a
RB, and 2) does Franco even have a son? :-P

In any case, with the Steelers' situation being so thin at CB, he should
have a little better shot to earn himself a spot on the roster this
time.

In any case, it's fun to think about. We wish him the best!

Franco does have a son. He is about 18 years old or so. I used to live next
door to Franco on the North Side from 1990-1994. The kid didn't really look
like any kind of an athlete though.

I don't know how his tryouts have been, but his college days were not bad. He
is a good defender on the short and medium pass and will jump on a ball for a
chance at an interception. Not great long speed and can get beat deep.
Otherwise a well rounded player and a potential solid backup. By the way recent
DB's now playing in the NFL out of Louisville include Ray Buchanon w/Colts and
Sam Madison w/Dolphins, I wish the Steelers had taken either of these guys.

Question of the Day? What famous Steeler Draft pick played at the University of
Louisville?

Answer: Jonny Unitas
Point: Sometimes the Steelers don't know when they have something worth
keeping. Coach I hope your reading this.

He was a good player and considered short for a safety at that time. Overall a very good player but unable to make it due to his knee injury.

So, I'm guessing you are about 40-45 years of age.
How are your knees now?
Still athletic?
Still work out?

How is life going?
