In AlDavis' interview with the Chicago Tribune, he said Oakland has
great football fans, but there's no corporate base in that city. That
is, unfortunately, true. It is also unfortunate that corporate backing
is needed
for teams to thrive. But the fact is there are corporate backers all
over the Bay Area that can be sold on backing the Raiders, Al just
doesn't have them clamoring at the door, and the OFMA is incompetent.

The Silicone Valley is full of companies that could use the advertising
exposure the Raiders bring nationwide when they are winning. And there
are literally thousands of companies in the area that can more than
afford a luxury box....or two.

The marketing of the team has been pathetic, and it is Al's excuse for
wanting to leave. He would never have left LA if he knew the Rams were
going too, and he's been waiting for an excuse to go back, have a nice
state of the art stadium...and he won't sell out there either. I moved
up here from LA within a week of the Raiders, and the fans (future
inmates) they will draw will keep the 'money folk' away, or they'll
priced them out and you'll have an upscale yuppie crowd, then the place
will look like Dodger stadium. People will show up in the middle of the
1st quarter and leave in the middle of the 4th.

Oakland is the place for the Raiders but they have to market the team,
in San Jose, the Central Valley, Sacramento, and the foothills. Get them
on the radio in all their markets. Get Raider talk shows on the radio.
Get a Raiders (or Gruden) TV show on the air. Fox Sports does one that
airs on saturday night at midnight, how ridiculous is that?

Then get the ticket prices in line with the rest of the league. Here are
the prices of the other team in our league including the charge for
buying it at a ticket outlet.(I have to do this unless I want to take a
chance at walk-up)

San Diego $20 to $58 + $9.50 ticketmaster
Seattle $10 to $52 + $9.50 ticketmaster
Kansas City 37 to 49 + $ 9.50 ticketmaster
Denver $25 to $56 + $9.50 ticketmaster

Now the Raiders......$41 to $81 + $11.75 to $18.25 Bass handling charge.
To take my son down
from Saramento for a game in decent seats it'll cost me over $200 before
I ever buy a hot dog.

The Raiders can be a success here....and Al knows it, he just doesn't
want it.

Maybe a few corporate Raiders will sponsor the team but any company that
wants to keep its image clean won't have anything to do with Al and the
Raider image.

BS. Everyone knew the Rams were going to leave before the 1994 season
even started. The rumors were flying in 1993.

Thanks. One less asshole to deal with down here.

They've already priced most people out.

No one (I repeat...no one) wants to help Al Davis (except to lower his
casket) out. When Al croaks, the Raiders will once again prosper.
Oakland fans should be praying for this to happen before the end of this
season or Al will fleece you once again.

Good post Izzy. There may be one intangible to this whole scenario...Al
likes the sun (warm weather). I don't know if he still owns it, but he
used to have a dig in Venice. At 70 y/o, he may be getting to the point
where he wants to be where his heart desires. If Gruden keeps this team
on track, Al will have more time to figure out how to make a move and
get some $$$ while he's at it. I could be wrong, but with the reputation
Al has, as well perceived reputation the fan base has, corporate $$$
might not want to associate themselves with the franchise. Having said
that, the tobacco and beer companies should fit right in;) Consistent
winning helps too....

I would just like to add that there seems to be an illusion that the Raiders
have the highest avg ticket prices.

That belongs to the Skins at I believe $84.

The Raiders rank around 5th.

Your credidibily sucked itself back up your ass with your first reply.
Nobody knew for sure they were going to leave til; they signed the final
paper.....John Shaw was as back-handed as Al Davis, not even Peter Uberroth
could get the truth outta John and that Cunt Madame Ram, so he could work to
keep the team in town.

Why thank you. Nothing like having quality of life, and the fewer of you
penis-breath scumbags that knows where it is the better.

Maybe if you work at McDonald's....I just seek value for my money, and
throwing two bills at the Raiders for a ball game is not value.

Your truly opinionated aren't you? Been running in the big business circles?
These fuckers I do nbusines with would by advertising in hell if they
thought enough people would see it. They would hop in bed with Al in a
second if it made business sense.

bwwaaaaaa ha ha ha.

If you posted with the personality you responded to mine with, I can see
why you got torched. You're an asshole.

My bad then. I read that statement in a recent article but I didn't check its
validity. The prices I listed for the teams in the AFC West, I got from
Ticketmaster and ETicket. Thanks for the correction.
