Cash money baby. Several folks in here said the signing was for
publicity. As if winning isn't the best publicity of all.

Why do some folks in here indulge in fantasy rather than reality? Do
you truly believe the Jets acquire/jettison talent simply to sell
PSLs, tix, etc? Or are you aware of the proven fact the biggest money
winner of them, always, is winning?

LT has been a cash money winner thus far. Most demonstrably so
yesterday. Just look at our future Hall of Famer's stats yesterday .

And he is ours. He chose us because he knew a winner when he saw one.
He chose us because he wants to win a Super Bowl. Just like every
Jet.

Where r are the teams relevant to the LT signing - SD and KC? Gone.

Certain folks in here, try to indulge in reality rather than fantasy.
You're that much interesting when you do.

Really Life...you are smarter than this...I hope. Some people, and perhaps
rightfully so, said that LT was signed because Woody likes big name players
around. There are some who were not then happy with letting TJ go...I'm
one, and I still think he would have been a vital part of the team this
year. That said, all of us as far as I can recall, who had that opinion
also were very happy to see LT in his revitalized form. Nobody put him
down. Your persumed brilliance is all hind sight...and as far as yesterday
goes, he did what he did because Shonn is there alongside of him to share
the load, he is NOT an all down back. I would have loved to see a three
back offense with him and Shonn AND TJ. They could have gotten rid of any
number of possible players to make something like that happen. What you are
doing is choosing to find an issue, forget all of the things that have been
said by many posters here throughout the entire season and try and create a
stir...that is baiting at best. You do post some good stuff so take a look
at this...it is entirely possible for someone to really analyze backs, and
like TJ and LT both. As for KC not getting it done...to even think you can
put that on TJ is nuts. And the movement of LT away from SanDiego was part
of him coming back to life...he played well this year and I hope he has at
least one more year in him.

We got our monies worth on this swap this weekend if we did not before.

He hasn't won anything. Ever.

I agree Woody likes big name players. But I think he likes winning
about 1,000,000% more. I also think he allows Tannenryan to lead the
way on personnel matters. And Tannenryan's job is to win, thus all
their personnel moves are geared towards winning.

Thus LT was signed to help the Jets win. End of story.

>There are some who were not then happy with letting TJ go...I'mone, and I still think he would have been a >vital part of the team this

I don't know for a fact, but I don't think the Jets were going to
allocate the money it'd cost for both TJ & LT to the tailback
position. So I don't think that was ever a possibility for them. Point
here: they were looking to replace TJ with Greene & a tailback to be
named later.

I, too, was concerned about letting TJ go. But I was super fired up
about the prospect of bull-boy Shonn getting more opportunities.

>That said, all of us as far as I can recall, who had that opinion

I was touching on how you and perhaps some others, intimated the
primary reason they signed LT was because of his big name. Which I
think is nonsense, had about 0.0001% to do with it.

I think the Jets signed LT as, in effect, a replacement for TJ
because: LT is adept receiving out of the backfield while TJ sucks;
they wanted to give Shonn more opportunities; and they saw plenty of
tread left on LT's tires.

Clearly Woody doesn't mind drawing attention to his NFL toy, but as
mentioned I think it's safe to assume he delegates personnel decisions
to Tannenryan. Because I think more than anything Woody wants to win,
and he knows he only knows so much about football.

> Your persumed brilliance is all hind sight...

Incorrect.

I'm on record loving the signing from the get go (I also recall
specifically lauding LT after Miami game 1. Al Michaels had referred
to him as a "Hall of Fame checkdown" after one critical checkdown
conversion. I posted about Michaels's comment). Unlike some folks in
here I have an almost blind-faith confidence in our front office
including Rex. Tanny has a lot of experience now, a good and improving
track record as GM, and Rex I think is a brilliant football mind.

I probably should be less blind faith, but hey I'm a fanatical Jets
fan giving total fealty to the team and have a knee-jerk reaction
about protecting 'our own.'

I never said LT was an all-down back. I just said LT was cash money
like he has been for much of the season.

That woulda been intriguing to see. Not sure if I woulda went that
way, but it's an intriguing idea no doubt.

Again I was simply talking about how you and perhaps some others
intimated LT's signing was due in some measure to his big name.

Again I've been super fired up about and lauding the LT signing from
the start through this very moment. Wow, "this very moment" sounded
kinda Zen or something. Cue the bong and maryjane.

I wasn't trying to put the KC loss on TJ. Rather I was trying to put
the Jets win partially on LT.

I was trying to say the Jets made a wise move essentially replacing TJ
with LT. I was trying to intimate that the certain folks in here who
slammed TJ's non resigning weren't necessarily on point. Not to
mention ESPN's Skip Bayless and other mediots who slammed the non
resigning.

I was trying to in some way give our our leadership some well-deserved
credit when certain folks in here rarely if ever do. With them there's
a lot of why the Jets front office or CS are semi-incompetent or some
other lunacy, when the current regime's record shows it has been very
good and near great.

You're 100% right about LT's Jets re-birth by way of leaving San
Diego. And I too agree he played well this year and hope for *at
least* one more good year. The way he played this year he could have
several more good years in him, knock on wood.

Incorrect.

How many more yrears do you think LT has in the tank? I am not so
optimistic.
TJ may not either but at least he is consistent and less injured.

The Jets' rebirth????? The team the lead the NFL in rushing needed to be
reborn with RB's?

Exactly.

TJ is on his downside for sure. Not what he once was. He's also a guy
who on his downside had 1,000+ yards for KC combined rushing and
receiving, as their #2 back. That's not so bad for a #2 back on his
downside.

TJ is still a better inside back than LT, outside back and receiver
than Shonn (who even inside hasn't yet shown himself to be another
Earl Campbell or Jim Brown), all round back than both of them, an
unquestioned asset in the locker room, and did I mention he had 1,000
yards? If we really wanted "ground and pound" those could have been
used to keep ol' LT fresh, and have provided a lot more options to
keep Sanchez from being "forced" to throw -- at least downfield.

Anybody who thinks we should ground-and-pound the Pats this weekend to
keep possession from Brady and set up Sanchez with some passes he can
complete should be wishing that TJ were still here.

KC played the easiest schedule in the league -- easiest AFC schedule
plus the gawd awful NFC West inter-conference.

They were barely a .500 strength team, and last weekend got their
clock cleaned by a much better team strictly on the merits.

Maybe my writing was I unclear. When I said "LT's Jets re-birth" I
meant his re-birth with the Jets, not the other way around.
