How? By making a gesture that's so obscene that it would be
inappropriate to put it on the front page of a newspaper?

I've wanted to do that many times....I found it refreshing :-)
The whole story is that he was taunted 3 times by some drunk guy that
security refused to remove from the venue. They guy screamed that he
wanted to kill Rex, that he was a big fat so-and-so, and spit on him.
This happened 3 TIMES. This is according to Jay Glazer from Fox
Sports, who was at the MMA with Rex. He actually said that the Jets
fine was ridiculous, given the treatment that Rex was given by this
idiot, and he felt his response was very measured, given the
provocation.
You, however, are a troll.

Rex Ryan is a big fat embarrassment to the greatest city in the world. He
belong in MMA, not the NFL. Fat slob cannot even control himself in a
decent fashion.
Oh please he should have just laid out the moron doing the heckling!
I know he couldn't because of all the legal bs, but in a perfect world
he could have and enjoyed it too. If I had the 50K I would pay them
and create an escrow account with a lot more in it so that any fines
to Rex would be paid off by it.
Fallen off the bandwagon so soon?

Just waiting for the start of next season. Sooner or later the Jets are
going to make us proud of them.
You should read this before passing judgement. What would any of us
have done?
That he didn't get in a fight is unbelievable. That the dopey kid who
took the picture, may have lied about what his fiend said to disparage
someone's reputation and ultimately cost Rex $50,000, is a story unto
itself.

The better folks among us would have acted like a mature adult.
We might have a different definition of "mature adult".
While I would agree that simply walking away would have been the smart
thing, given Rex's stature as a public figure, I don't think his
comeback was out of line. When someone curses you multiple times and
spits on you, I would suggest flipping the bird is one of the more
mature things to do. Many would have attacked this person physically -
or at least tried to before being restrained.
At what point does it become acceptable to react? Cursing and
threatening? Spitting? Physical contact? I'm curious.
Sometimes a mature adult has to strike back.
Mature adults don't call names and write -

Then, by that standard, you're immature.
