Another assistant coach was involved in something hollering at Schott...it
looked like people were trying to get him to decide on a play and he kept
looking at his notes.

At today's press conference Rex was asked if Schott was returning next
season and his answer, without any hesitation whatsoever was yes :(

I think you guys need to get things in perspective. The Jets
were down by 3 scores at halftime. That means everything done
against Pittsburgh in the second half was in desperation mode.
The goal line problem has at least as much to do with the
desperate situation and trying to make too much happen too
fast and offensive players not getting their mind set for
the play as anything AND going against one of the best
defenses in the league. The Steelers did what the Patriots
should have done and that is make the run game work. Your
defense is good but has weaknesses, and that's what lost
them the game.

I watched the game again last night. What I saw is that on almost
every play Sanchez was put in a situation where he can make the play.
Maybe it is Sanchez. Maybe it is the OL or the coaching of the same
or maybe Rex sees something he likes in Schottenheimer. I don't know.
Here are a few things I noticed.
1. Sanchez did miss some open receivers.
2. He missed Keller in the end zone and he was on the move on that
play. The play calling can be questioned but the play worked it was
Sanchez that didn't finish. I still wish they ran it at least on the
3rd & 4th down. I got depressed looking at the holes LT had on 3rd
down.
3. On the disastrous sack & TD the Steeler CBs were 15 yards off the
line. Isn't there a check down-correct term?-- where MS just throws
it out wide? I am still wondering why they thought a score before
half was critical when they never did all year. If they throw it out
wide to Holmes he had one man to beat. They had had 8 in the box.
Maybe Schott or maybe Sanchez can't process everything or missed it.
4. The coverage on our last kick off was awful. An onside kick would
have been a better choice. I know that is hindsight but our ST teams
sucked especially our punter. Maybe Weatherford can't kick in the

The entire first half they were flat...dead, no enthusiasm at all. A
checkdown wide with any safety support is a bad idea....but they should have
had something going on, they seem to have some things that work really well,
but they never seem to stick with those things like most successful teams
do, I was indoctrinated with if it works keep doing it till they stop it.
My previous point is the O scheme looks a lot like the D scheme in that it
is attempting to guess and catch the opponent in something and if it doesn't
work...it really doesn't work.

I watched it again John and didn't see what you saw, but TV gives us a
terrible view to really evaulate...what I saw was very good coverage on the
part of the Steelers and a lot of hurry up pressure in the first half...the
second half they woke up and the results showed it.

They have an online replay that they charge there are some nuts like
us that would pay for the coaching views. It isn't like the opponents
don't see it so it isn't a secret.

yeah Steelers always seen to get the calls. Even more than the
Pats... With them, the refs throw the flag whenever Brady gets teary
eyed. But the Steelers are the kings of getting the calls. There was
an awful lot of holding by the steelers in this game that could have
been called.
