Its official. The Jet ticket rep called again, looking for my $1,000
deposit next year. I told them no thanks. We have had seats since '65,
but no more. I have to admit, after having gone to games since 1974,
and regularly since 1983- and I am 42- it wasn't an easy decision. But
they made it alot easier.Trust me, I am a die-hard. I wanted to invite
Joe Willie to my birthday parties, I remember Lou Piccone, Louie
Gimmona and Carl Barzilauskus. I have paid my dues. I was firmly in
the Todd camp when he battled vs Matt Robinson.I recall the day the
halftime show involved a gas-powered plane that went into the crowd
and resulted in a fatality. Took home a couple seat backs and and a
4'x2' hunk of sod from Shea after they lost to Pitt in last game
there. But I digress. My original plan was to secure my 2 seats, at
least for the first season in the new stadium, and go from there. I
figured that they would let me slide on the deposit, as I have been a
long-time customer, plus the fact that it is common knowledge that
they are having a very difficult time selling seats. They started
calling last May fro the deposit, and I kept putting it off. Anyway,
push finally came to shove, and I am out. And you know what? Didn't
hurt a bit. If I made a checklist of the pros and cons of owning
season tickets, the cons would far outweigh the pros. I never asked
for a new stadium. Did you? Didn't think so. I used to think my mother
was nuts when we would trudge in the front door after another late-
season loss, and she would say "Why do you go sit in the cold when you
can watch it on TV?". You know what? She's was right- and that was
long before HD, I might add. Anyhoo, I feel a little better outiing
this out there, as I am sure I am not the only one who has gone thru

I'm in it as long as you. Gave up my seats years ago, and became a TV
couch fan. Still wear the green...
