Rex is learning his way around the place and Sanchez is a rookie. We
all are now brutally conscious of what our team is made up of, two
guys at the most important positions when it comes to player and coach
who are not very good at it.
With that said, I am not so upset with our QB. Yeah it was disgusting
to watch Sanchez make the same stupid mistake repeatedly yesterday,
throwing the ball to guys that were not really open and not even
giving the WR a chance to even knock the ball down, but this guy does
have talent and will be a good QB some day if he has the smarts and
dedication to get better. The real problem is will Rex get better. I
think he should delegate the defensive play calling to our DC and he
should start acting like a HC. You can't tell me he has so much time
on game days that he can totally focus on the defensive side of the
ball and not worry about ST or the O. That would probably be a step in
the right direction for this team. Rex blew into NY like a hurricane
and talked a lot of crap. Honestly I totally enjoyed it up until about
two weeks ago, now it is time sit on his teams head especially his QB.
This is when a HC shows his team what he is made of. If the team folds
now for the remaining games, Rex is nothing but a more vocal Herm
Edwards. I actually see Rex making a lot of the same mistakes as Herm
did, all he needs to do now is have a melt down at a presser and say
"You play to win the game".

I saw this coming in the preseason, Glenn. Really, you don't need to
be Copernicus to spot Rex's shortcomings: it's ego. On the other hand,
Sanchez's ineptitude comes as a pleasant surprise. The second coming
of Cutler. Talent without discipline--and who better to teach him the
latter than Ryan? Franchez is the perfect match intellectually for
his head case, I mean coach.

Very good at it inherently, or very good at it now? I think Sanchez
isn't very good at it now, but will be. I don't think Ryan is good
at it now, or ever will be. Some guys thrive in an environment
where someone else can have the final say, and can be the lightening
rod to the various constituencies, but fail miserably without that.
The 3 Ryans fit this mold.

Glenn.. I think you might be barking up the wrong tree here. The Jets
lost FOUR games that they should have won that can be blamed DIRECTLY
on Sanchez. Who ever made the decision to go into the season without
an alternative to go to at qb can also be blamed. Still.... They made
their decision. They go with the rookie for better or for worse. We
cant know if it was the right move until we see if Sanchez learns
better for next year. Rex is having his growing pains and needs to
learn also, it seems, but he did not cost the Jets nearly as much as
Sanchez has. Rex is good material.

I'm will to give him another year or so. Unless he is a total ass, he
isn't going to be acting like he was again any time soon. He does seem
to have some good qualities as a HC.

I'm with the notion of 1-2 years max to see if he can really be an
effective Head Coach in the NFL. Make adjustments man. I agree with
the notion of him managing the coordinators and letting someone else
call the defense. It's not working at all this way. I do feel like
if there is a name brand coach out there that would have an interest
in coming here, I'd love that move. But Rex will get another
year...Woody has too much money tied up in this for what we're getting
on the field. He is someone who can put his money where his interests
lie.

I think Rex can be good, but he won't be until he starts doing the HC
job and lets someone else do the DC job. He is to wrapped up in the D.
If he wants to be a major part of the game planning, I'm all for it
but on Sunday, let someone else run it and if you think Petine is not
capable of doing that, then get a new DC.

I am tired of the lack of consequences for failure. Sanchez should be

what. Sanchez has lost any right to the job based on his ineptitude.

There need to be consequences or we will keep repeating this crap. Plus,
there is tremendous upside if Kellen performs. If there is no CBA we
have his rights for cheap. If he does well, he will want out, creating a
market for his services.

Agree... It was my feeling that Sanches should have gotten a seat on
the bench during the Saints game. It was also my feeling that the
Jets should have gotten a low money vet fa at qb that is seasoned
enough not to score points for the other team. They blew it by not
having a back-stop for the rookie. I also think Schott is brilliantly
innefective. Mix Schott with Sanchez and you have a disaster. I hope
that Schott is gone next year and the jets get guy that knows his ass
from his elbow to run the offense.

Right, so either there was no backup plan for the rookie QB, which is
inexcusable, or Rex doesn't mind throwing the season away to help
Sanchez "learn," but Sanchez is getting worse by this treatment. At
this point, I don't care, because I don't intend to watch their games
any more. As someone who watches these games "casually," I'm not
going to lose sleep over it, but if they intended to throw the season
away to get the QB "experience" they should've told the fans. Will
next year also be sacrificed, if necessary, to provide more
experience? That is something fans should be told before it's time to
buy tickets.

Well.. Before there was Sanchez to think about, the Jets did not have
a qb. Favre went hunting and few if any considered Clemens the
answer. The Jets made a dynamic move to try fix that. They managed
to move up to the top five spot and pick a qb that most scouts felt
was the best qb in the draft. And, they did warn the fans that they
expected suffer the mistakes of the rookie qb that they felt was guy
for the future. The problem was the schmucks had to go and win their
first three games. The fans that were expecting an 8-8 season and
gowing pains of a team with a rookie qb started expecting the Jets to
bull-doze the nfl. IMHO, eveything now will be riding the the guy
they bring in next year to replace Schott. If they hire the right
guy, the Jets will compete for a playoff spot. If Schott stays, write
next season off too.
