I feel your pain. It's mind-bending stuff:

Is it Rex-Schotty, Sanchez, Wayne Hunter's disaster penalties?

Always best in football to judge a book by it's cover: thus far the
2011 Jets offense has been pedestrian.

Remember this about Schotty: the apple doesn't fall far from Marty.
And Woody & Rex seem to be in love with the Schottenheimer name?

Sanchez has lost focus a little and that's a little bit on the
coaching, but at this point 3 years in almost entirely on him.

Also remember Burf - only thing beautiful in today's NFL is the final
score. I think I may do the Oakland game, visit wine country and SF
and all that. Greatest region in the world btw.

Exactly! There is no rhythm, no continuity to this offense. I just keep
scratching my head saying what the hell was that... 2nd &21, and they don't
even try to get a first down, two stupid runs for little gain. I just don't
get what they see in this guy. Can Tom Moore put a headset on and start
calling some plays and just let Schott call them on a blow out in the 4th
quarter? This is really boring!
When do you see teams like the Sqeelers, Pats, Saints or any decent football
team not try for a first down on 2nd and 21? Thank god for a good defense or
both games would have been out of reach...

I've gone to more coaching clinics than I can possibly remember..and one
thing I do remember hearing from so many of them was.."Make them stop
you...do it untill they stop it !" Why can't they do that?????? Why when
something has great success does it get put away...I would imagine the OC or
whoever does call the plays is thinking they will "save" it for a tough
time...but that only gives the opponent time to analyze it and figure out
what happened...RUN THE DAMN THING WHILE IT IS WORKING.

And do something with this O line...if Mangold is out...they are
screwed...saw a lot of good things, but the O line sacres me a lot...and
Sanchez will not develop the right way if he is getting hit this much and
this hard.

It's Schott pulling random plays out of a shoebox...of course, that is my
assumption and imagination..but to me, it is what it looks like and I see
that after coaching for many years in high school and scratching my head at
teams we would routinely beat...and teams that had good players but coaches
who had no clue what a SYSTEM was. I can remember watching film of a game
we had won and seeing things the opponent obviously never saw that would
have hurt us. When I watch other teams, even college teams...I see a
system...continuity...a plan...some reason why one play leads to the
next...I simply do not ever see that with the Jets.

agreed. But the first drive was outstanding. Now, that said, let'd
enjoy this win and enjoy what looks to be a real nice season ahead.
Would hate this forum to become *exclusively* a bitching and moaning
horror show again. TOday was a convincing and dominating win. Far
short of perfection which will NEVER happen.

There were some very nice moments. And...I think Sanchez looked really good
when he was getting it done...better than the past.

Papa, if he would just relax. He is more dangerous when he has a
little success. The first pick he had 2-3 guys that would have gotten
him the first down.

He & the OL buried themselves but if he would have taken a deep breath
twice we are up by 10-14 more at half time. The center struggled (3rd
string so no surprise) and that contributed but to blame play calling
on this makes little sense. The problems in this order were:

1.Sanchez
2. Hunter
3. injury to Mangold

Look at the plays & maybe changing it here & there may have helped but
unforced int's when you have options that are open is not a tactical
issue it is a young dopey QB trying to be the man.

I'm not so worried about the INTs. The important thing is, during the
game, that Sanchez doesn't appear worried by them either. He mentions
them after the game, but he's got a mature mentality for a young QB.

I love how he plays at times but when he throws unforced picks when
people are open it worries me. Maybe better coaching would help but
how do you coach a guy to grow up? His ints rarely seem to come off
bad, meaning errant throws -- like McCown's first one yesterday --
but bad decisions.

That he can shake it off is great. I saw this & it made me think of
Sanchez. btw Hasselbeck said Dilfer wan't much help back then.

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/08/29/sports/football/jets-quarterback-sanchez-has-a-red-zone-problem.html

The best red-zone quarterback Trent Dilfer said he ever played with
was Matt Hasselbeck, who on a weekly basis would conquer that chaotic,
compressed and critical area inside the opposition’s 20 by flashing
what Dilfer called the “brass of a burglar and the discretion of a
doctor.” Hasselbeck would handle every snap believing that no defense
could stop a perfect throw, Dilfer said, and if the coverage was
tight, he felt no shame dumping a pass to his running back or tight
end or tossing away the ball to avoid disaster.

Fixed it....see above. Yes...as I have said many times...Sanchez is weak at
times, many times and has flaws...but the only OC he has ever had is an
idiot. He does not have the comfort of developing behind an O line that
protects, or a program with continuity and he got thrown into the mix too
early...I don't see how much more can be expected of him...he is not Cam
Newton.

Exactly Percy...he needs to fix it...but it is not as bad as it once
was...and the reasons are more related to him trying too hard than just bad
accuracy or terrible passing.

We disagree I am shocked.

:)

If he doesn't throw those two picks we are up big & he is on the bench
resting for the 4 Q. Maybe it is Schott but he was not under pressure
for the int's. I can partially agree as Mangold could be a bigger
deal.

The one thing I did notice was this. If we started with 1st & 10 &
had no penalties every drive but one lead (int) to points. I know it
is tough to do but he has issues with 20+ yards for 1st downs.

One game isn't a trend but if they an keep the penalty count low on
offense that would appear to help the QB & or the OC if your hunch is
correct.

The Mangold stuff is a worry. I watched Ryan's press conference from
11:30 -12:00 & wasn't sure if that was post game (probably not as it
was 30 minutes long) & he was talking about the young center.

Actually Johnny...what I'm thinking now will be with a messed up O line and
other things that will pop up, it will be yet another excuse why the O did
not produce well and he will get another pass...that scenario is what kept
