It sure looked to me that the Steelers back-up center looked like an all
pro.
How did he fare during the game on run blocking but more importantly
pass blocking?
Enquiring minds want to know without having to suffer watching another
SB without the Jets. I promised myself this weekend that the game before
last year's SB (which I also did not watch) was the last non Jets SB I
ever watch.

If the Jets fail to get there again, that will in fact be the by
product. No loss by my standards other than the angst of rooting for
what will clearly have been a damned team.
Ray, as you age, the by product being that the time you have left is
much less than the time that you have had, you might find that you value
that time more than you used to. Wasting it to watch a few clever
commercials, and two teams playing that you don't care a whit about
might not seem important any more.
Clearly for a fan of football, it will. As a Jet fan, almost any thing
including reading a book seemed like a better use of my time.

I guess your just a Jets fan, not a football fan. I am a football fan
and watch as many games as I can. It would be nice for the Jets to be
in the SB but they weren't. I'll be damned if I will miss a SB just
because the Jets aren't in it. IMHO it seems rather silly to me to
miss a game because your team isn't in it.

i agree... i enjoyed the game and was glad rodgers got a ring. he's a
talented qb and it would be a shame for such a quality player to miss
out on a ring like marino and jim kelly. i remember when i was
growing up in grade school... i was miffed when kids became raiders,
steelers or cowboys fans even though the were from the ny area. they
should be jets or gints fans. petty front runners like that in youth
become petty front runners as adults... still... i can appreciate it
if a jet fan skips out on watching the superbowl considering that the
jets were so close twice in a row. even rex and other coaches have
said it was too hard to watch a superbowl after an afc champ loss. it
is understanding.

There have been entire seasons where I watched a lot of football, and very
little of the Jets because it was flat out boring or a waste of time to
watch. I like watching football and just happen to be a Jets fan. I was
very happy The Pack won. I can however understand players and coaches not
watching. When I was involved in the game it was very different, I actually
enjoy watching two good teams compete now.

I actually found it interesting also, just to see what the replacement
players could do.

i think if they exand the season to 18 games, we'll see a 60 man
roster. interesting to consider how that will affect the quality of
things. they would also have to increase the cap to allow for such a
roster. IMHO, we'd see the teams using most of the cap on 22 star
players and a few bits left over for 48 scrubs. that would really be
an interesting dynmic... the exrta cap allowed would all go to locking
down my stars like keeping both edwards and santonio. you would
probably have around 5-10 guys making 100k a year or what ever the min
is...

If you like football, just enjoy the game it really doesn't matter. I
really enjoy high school football too and we have a couple local colleges
who play very good football, it's close, the stadium is gorgeous and it's a
great atmosphere. One of them I could walk to if I was energetic enough.
Sometimes just to enjoy the game it's nice to not have an emotional
connection to it.

Seems to me the obvious compromise is to cut out two preseason games as
planned, add only one extra regular season game, and add another bye
week during the season with the assurance the two byes must be at least
6 games apart and that no bye will take place during the first and last
three weeks.
From health stand point, the extra bye and the proposed spacing should
more than make up for the extra regular season game as should the
absence of pre season. Timing is not upset either.
The league should make more money and while the players will whine, they
should focus on keeping as much as their percentage as possible or at
least growing revenues to offset what they lose.
Additionally, the players should negotiate a slow decline in percentage
so both sides have an incentive to grow revenues.
Additionally, the league would be served by having the first pre season
game exclude vets with four or more years of service unless petitioned
by the player. It would give the rooks and marginal players a chance to
compete with the draftees and UDFA. The appeal would allow a guy
recovering from an injury to get some PT.

The prospect of not having any more football games to watch, compelled
me to watch the SB, even if without the Jets. It is the one sport, I
can't say no to.
