The game was lost when Purdy was injured. Josh Johnson is less than a JAG.

And even if they somehow had primetime Johnny Unitas somehow there as their 3rd quarterback, they could not score enough points to win given that the officials were not letting the San Francisco defense get off the field. And look what the officials did compared to the AFC championship game. At 0-0, Smith apparently caught a long pass on 4th down that set up the first touchdown. But he did not catch it! But the officials ruled he did! In the other game, at 0-0 Toney apparently caught a touchdown pass on a 3rd down play, but he didn't, and the officials ruled he did not. Big difference.

I dont care who the 3rd QB is, at least its a QB, without one SF might as well have just forfeited the game, it was game over....not saying they would have won even with a good back up, but at least the public wouldnt have been witness to what amounted to a whole half of a team that was basically just playing out the rest of the game waving a white flag. If im not mistaken dressing 3 QBs used to be pretty common. And please it wasnt the officials, San Fran got their clock cleaned and would have lost with Mahomes at QB. That Philly team SET A RECORD for team sacks this year. That said i think i'm goin KC

What I think they should do is go back to the rule they once had. You had a 3rd quarterback dressed, but was not on the playing roster. He could come in, but then neither of the first 2 quarterbacks could return to the game.

You can dress 5 QB's if you want...its just that teams usually save the last few spots for special teamers....remember that was Dabolls excuse for not dressing Slayton early in the season.....he didnt play specials....i already heard them debating just put a few more actives on the gameday roster, no big deal.

Sour Grapes.....NOTHING in the rules was preventing them from dressing 3 QB's so its on them not the rules committee. If you read the comments many people are saying this, its them trying to have their cake and eat it too...the world doesnt work like that, that was over a decade ago. It like going to your insurance company and trying to get more coverage AFTER the disaster.....ummmmm no. Its on them they coulda dressed 5 QBs under the CURRENT rules. No one was stopping them...so they chose the last guy to be a STer so they went thru a whole half of football without a QB, cry me a river...
