I mean the whole team looked like shit yesterday but i'm talking this
season so far. At least the offense put up great numbers last game and
they were the sole reason we beat the 'girls in dallas also.
I say off with his head.... and I believe if it is up to Reese and TC
and the Mara's don't spare him his head will roll. Altho Reese himself
is partially to blame for not adding depth at safety while hireing
these Dlineman who have done exactly ZERO to date.
But Reese's batting average is still high, I love his picks last 3
years at WR...Smith, Manningham and Nicks.

Although it would be nice, somehow I don't think that will ever
happen.
I say get rid of Sheridan NOW and promote Waufle for the rest of the
season. They need to shake things up NOW and save this season,
especially with Pierce in bad shape. And if things don't improve with
Waufle, then next year put him back at DL (or let him go if he doesn't
like it) and find another young assistant DC on an aggressive over
achieiving defense.
Sheridan's too much of a schemer and not enough of a motivator IMHO.
He should be the one doing the barking on the sidelines, no Osi.

I agree with most your post here but this isn't baseball or
hockey....unless a team is totally out of it, which the Giants are
not, you will never see a co-ordinator or HC fired mid season. Plus I
want the next guy to have experience with a successful track record.

You guys forgot one thing: both Buddy and Fox worked with a lot of
talent on their hands. It's not like they turned a bunch of nobodies
into somebodies. Also, Fox's defense gave up a lot of big plays when
he was with the Giants.

I'm all for sending him packing after the season. I'd like a proven
commodity like a John Fox if possible. And Coughlin needs to step up
his game as well. This team hasn't looked prepared a few times this
season and that's on him as far as I'm concerned.
Reese also needs to pick it up this offseason. He had a great year
in 2007 but since then he's dropped way off. His free agent
aquisitions the past 2 seasons have contributed little and definitely
haven't improved the team at those positions. His first and second
round picks have been pretty solid but they're supposed to be. After
a really deep draft in 2007 he's gotten little out of his later round
picks the last couple of seasons and he's failed to shore up the
linebacking corps with any of his picks thus far.

Well, I think Michael Boley is a player at LB, and he's young. He's
been hurt, but how much of that was foreseeable?

Majority of GMs in this league messed up on 1st and 2nd rounders.
As for his free agent acquisitions, yes I agree. The Giants need to
open up the wallet and sign a monster defensive player. No more
marginal above average type players just to pull the holes. They need
to be willing to commit to greatness.

So far Reeses only good FA signing is gone already, that would be

Also the last few draft classes are YTBD. Some people I think expect
every draft class to produce 3-4 starters..... that simply is
unreasonable, if you get about 3 to stay with the team in any capacity
for more than a few years you are hitting about the league average.
And hopefully every few years you get a pro bowler, like Eli, Snee,
Tuck and Osi.
Reese is still waiting for his first pro bowler, and it looks like
Smith has the best shot.

The really weird thing about this slide is how Coughlin has reacted to
it - or should I say a lack thereof. This guy was on the verge of a
heart attack on every play a few years back. We all saw him on the
sidelines during those games. He is intense and expects perfection from
his players and coaches. People with this general make up don't change.
They can try to control their emotions but their personality does not.
You would think by now (losing 5 of the last 6 games) he would be more
emotive on the sidelines and with the media - but he has made excuses
for poor play and play calling and doesn't seem to have a clue. Do you
think anyone is listening to him and has he lost his effectiveness and
control of this team?

His press conference the day after the game cracked me up. He started
off with "the kickoffs were good." They're supposed to be good in the
Denver altitude. Besides, it was a pretty small sampling because they
couldn't score but 2 field goals.
Now that you mention it, he does seem to be strangely calm even as the
championship team he built continues to collapse.

This is why I call for him to retire either last year or this year,
and the Giants should of kept Spags and told him that he's the man no
later than 2010. Coughlin has nothing more to prove and at his age he
doesn't have the desire for greatness anymore.
Now the Giants are stuck with a head coach who has lost his passion,
jokers at OC and DC, and a bunch of players with no clues.

If you're 68 years old, won a champtionship, and has grandkids around
you, and a nice contract to boost, would you still put in 80 hours a
week breaking down tapes? Neither would I. Which is why Coughlin
needs to gracefully step down (not fire, but just mutually agreed
departure) and the Giants should have someone who has passion in this
game.
The Giants should go all out press and ask for John Fox, or dare I say
it Fassel. People with coaching talent that hasn't won it all, and
will do whatever it takes to prove to the NFL that they are great
coaches.

Have you decided to leave a job and are waiting for the "moment" to leave
notice? You know how you get that "I don't care any more" feeling but you
also don't want it to show? Maybe it's this and Coughlin just can't help
not showing it? Just speculating but the calmness is very un-Coughlin like.
I noticed the calmness in the NO game as well. I thought it carried over
from 4 easy wins where he didn't have to show emotion.
