Tom Landry dead at 75

Landry was part of the Giant's 1956 championship coaching staff. He later
went on to coach somewhere in Texas.
Personally, I always thought Landry was a class act. People like him made
the NFL what it is today. Not only was Dallas lucky to have him, but I
think the whole league was lucky to have him.

Landry also played DB for the Giants before he turned to coaching. The
Umbrella Defense, the 4-3, the Flex Defense, the guy was a genius. I hated
losing to Dallas, but it was impossible to hate Coach Landry.

P.S. - What a terrific coaching staff Jim Lee Howell had in the mid-to-late
50's, having both Landry and Vince Lombardi (offense) as assistants.

Ditto. I hated the 'Boys, but never Landry, no matter what. His
development of the 4-3 defense still affects the game today.
Jerry Jones had the gall to be emotional about Landry in an interview on
ESPN. Considering the way he fired Landry in 1989, I had to choke back
the vomit.
