No. Sorry if it seemed racist, but here's my rationales behind that
statement. If whites were superior athletes, then the NBA & NFL would
be predominantly white. Blacks are also dominating women's tennis and
male golf. Blacks aren't dominating men's tennis, because they aren't
interested. Name one Black men's tennis player. The NBA has resorted to
importing white players from Europe, in an attempt to balance the racial
profile in the NBA. Most NBA teams are about 25% white.
The NFL is probably 60% Black. The positions that Blacks excel in
most are WR RB CB S D- line & LBs . These positions demand the most
speed, strength and stamina. Even the Black QBs are the fastest, and
often have stronger arms. Black QBs are an elite fraternity, they will
often play through pain because of pride . They also know that they're
judged much more harshly than White QBs. How many chances did Leaf &
George have? Palmer was picked far ahead of Leftwich, yet Leftwich is
starting. Palmer is third string. Black QBs have standards to uphold,
opening the doors to other younsters to get a shot. As blacks see more
QBs are having success, more youngsters will try out for QB. Then the
ratio of Black / White QBs will shrink.
As far as intelligence, the dumb/ smart qb ratio is probably
the same for both races. Favre isn't as smart as McNair or McNabb, but
he's their physical equal. Peyton & Pennington may be smarter, but
they aren't McNabb or McNair's physical equal. Kitna is neither a
physical or mental equal. They claimed Gannon is a genius, but he's a
head case. Does anyone want him? I think QB intelligence is irrelevant
when we're talking the top 15 QBs. In my book, the most perfect physical
and mental specimen was Young, followed by McNabb & McNair. Then Elway
and Peyton.

why race has to be injected into sports? The best players gravitate to the
their best sports and echelons. I'm sure there are some reasons as to why the
NFL is 60% black (if accurate) and the NBA is above 80% (not sure of the
number). Racism has little to do with it. With the popularity of the NBA in the
70s and early 80s it was easier( read cheaper)for cities to put up basketball
courts for kids (and older guys) to play in...than football fields or gold
courses or hockey rings. Equipment-wise...all you REALLY need is a basketball
and rim....you can play on grass, concrete, asphalt, wood, straw with and
without shoes. Once you have millions of kids getting their early training on
the playground courts...the best one gravitate to the higher leagues, colleges,
then the NBA.
I dont think anyone should imply that blacks are somehow better suited for the
NBA over the NFL or MLB than other races based on the NBA experience. For many
kids...its the only sport that they can practice on their own if necessary and
possibly dream of being "like Mike". Golf is the only other sport where you can
be "the one" but it takes a bigger investment in equipment.
