KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Kansas City officials continue to release
details they have learned surrounding a shooting Wednesday afternoon
that left one woman dead and dozens injured.

Police chief Stacey Graves said that there were a total of 23 victims
wounded in the shooting, one of whom died from their injuries.

Graves revealed that “at least half of the victims” were under the age
of 16.

The police chief said the shooting appeared to be the result of an
argument between two groups of people. She said of the three people
detained Wednesday afternoon, two were juveniles.

At 2:45 p.m., police stated that the third person was determined to be
not involved and was released. The two teens remained in custody.

The Kansas City Police Department has established a tip line dedicated
to obtaining information regarding the shooting: 816-413-3477. Anyone
who witnessed the shooting or has video has been asked to contact
investigators.

The FBI has also established a webpage for people who would like to
submit photos or videos here.

As of 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, police did not believe there was a
connection to terrorism or homegrown extremism.

Just moments after the Chiefs parade and rally concluded at Union
Station, shots rang out west of the stage area. Hundreds of people
scattered quickly and first responders immediately tended to multiple
gunshot victims.

Police asked the public to avoid the area, and Union Station was closed
off to the public.

Eleven victims were taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital, aged 6-15, nine
of whom suffered gunshot wounds. All of the victims are expected to
recover. Three of the children remained hospitalized in inpatient care,
and the rest have been released.

At University Health Truman Medical Center, eight gunshot victims were
treated, and two of those remained in critical condition as of Thursday
morning. Another patient remained in the hospital with lesser injuries.
The five other victims had been discharged.

The hospital had also treated four others who were not shot, and three
of those patients were discharged, as of Thursday morning.

St. Luke’s Hospital of Kansas City received one gunshot patient in
critical condition and three walk-in patients with injuries that were
not life-threatening, spokesperson Laurel Gifford said.

The Greater KC Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for
any information leading to an arrest(s) in connection with the shooting.
The phone number is 816 474-TIPS, and callers may remain 100% anonymous.

Graves said anyone who was missing belongings due to the shooting at
Union Station has been asked to call 311 for instructions on how to
retrieve those.
